The inventions and achievements of the Muslim Empire were very successful. They came up with the marching band, algebra, coffee, chess, and many more, including the Camera. Ibn al-Haytham invented the Pinhole camera in the early 1000s after realizing the way the light came through the shutters on a window. The invention of the camera is important since it is used everyday to capture moments, to communicate with others, and for education.
Have you ever thought about what life would be like without cameras? Just in the year of 2015 there was 880 billion pictures taken. Cameras have changed our society and the way that people live, especially photographers. Photographers whole life is the camera, so the 50 million people right now, would not
As a single dynasty, the Ottoman Empire (1299-1923) had control of most of the Middle East and parts of Europe for over six centuries. Through their tenure they had great cultural and intellectual achievements; however, many historians focused more on the diverse social history of the Ottomans, which perhaps was more intriguing topic given the functionality of the interatrial and multi religious demographic society within the Ottoman borders. Perhaps the other challenge of identifying cultural and intellectual achievements is that much of the of the Ottomans achievements are categorized as part of the Islamic culture, which encompasses most of the Islamic nations and not just the Ottoman Turks.

The Islamics combined the Indian numbers with the Greek mathematics to create arabic numerals. The Muslims and the Greek invented a thing called astolobe that determines where you are in the world. According to others, architecture may be one of the greatest and informational innovation that the Muslim civilizations made. Looking at the My World Textbook, it states, “ Muslim architects built striking mosques, fountains, gates, gardens, baths, and palaces.” While that may be true, the Muslim civilization has made more useful inventions, such as hygiene. The Muslims produced great innovations in time. The Muslim civilization produced helpful contributions in hygiene that have really changed the world. According to 1,001 Inventions & Awesome Facts From Muslim Civilization, it states, “Bathhouses were used by men and women but at separate times. Women usually bathed during the day and men at night or very early in the morning.” According
The word “photography” comes from the Greek, meaning “drawing with light”. It is a kind of art, as well as a technology with a long path of development that seems destined to continue as new possibilities for capturing images are discovered. Digital photography has come a long way in a short amount of time. The digital camera, when first invented, was labeled by many in the industry as no more than an overpriced gimmick that had no real value in the world of photography. As of 2016, research shows that over 122.68 million households in the U.S. own a digital camera. While those statistics are impressive, research also shows that 90% of people have only take photos on a phone camera vs. an actual camera. Today, I hope to have the opportunity
This text talked about all the incredible civilizations and inventions of the Islamic world. It went over all of the time periods, starting with 300 and ending with 1258. Arabia was a tribal society. The prophet Muhammed was born in 670, and was believed to be a man who voiced Allah(god). There are 5 pillars of Islam, and it is a peaceful religion. The laws were created around the 5 pillars(like nex+Gen?!). Like I said, Islam has had an incredible amount of inventions and ideas that go uncredited. Women had an important role in the creation of Islam. Many mathematical ideas came from Islamic people who borrowed ideas from Indians and
Studies hold that there existed five great and powerful Islamic Empires in history. These included the Ottoman Empire, the Caliphate, the Umayyad Caliphate, the Mughal Empire, and the Safavid Empire (Lapidus 414). The Ottoman Empire is considered the greatest empire because it ruled for a longer period than the rest of the empires. It was also one of the hugest and most powerful States globally. In 1923, the Empire was ceded by the Republic of Turkey and declined as a result (Lapidus 373). The Abbasid’s period, on the other hand, was a term marked by advances in Literature, Sciences, Philosophy, and Medicine, and was hence referred to as the golden age of Islam. The empire’s decline followed the arrest of Baghdad by Mongols
We are able to capture a memory forever with just a click of a button, we can ask questions and answer them just with pictures, we can even say a thousand words. I have learned people take photographs for granted, and we need to appreciate them more, because they have meaning just like any other piece of artwork. One can create so many memories with one simple picture. Cameras, paintings and photos have changed the world and make people see things in a new light. I will always believe there are impactful images all around us, we just need to let them impact us
“ The very first digital camera to ever be invented was in December 1975, it was invented by kodak. The engineer whom which created this camera made it possible to capture a picture and be able to look at the image on your camera within 20 seconds.” (Gersman)
Wow! The Muslims had a lot of innovations that we still use today. These innovations affected the world because we use these things in our everyday lives. The most important Muslim innovations that changed the world today are mathematics, medicine, and geography.
Quick forward to the present and expense is truly no more an issue. Not just are cameras extremely shabby in relative terms yet the preparing is presently done on machines that a great many people have in their homes paying little mind to regardless of whether they were into photography. Pretty much anybody can now take a decent photo affordably. This has changed some photos out there as well as what gets shot. With almost everybody owning no less than one camera and zero picture cost, there is currently no drawback to taking a photo - so everything gets shot.
To truly understand islamic history, one must examine the life of the individual who gave birth to such a phenomenon. Ibn Ishaq’s’ The life of Muhammad’ (1955), Syed Ameer Ali’s ‘The Spirit of Islam: A history of the Evolution and Ideals of Islam, with a Life of the Prophet’ (1923) and Ali Dashti’s ‘Twenty-three Years: A study of the Prophetic Career of Mohammad’ (1985), claim that Islam did not begin prior to Muhammad’s birth. The focus of that time period was centred on the idea of conquest which was nationalistically and politically driven. “Tonight has risen a star under which Ahmad was born” (Brown, 2009) cited by Jews emphasises that the birth of Muhammad ignited a spark that would significantly impact those who came to believe in him and those from different denominations. Islamic history flourished through the life of Muhammad specifically his early adulthood, revelations, opposition, ascension to heaven, emigration (hijra) and the battles.
New scientific, technological and medical innovation in the Islamic empire affected the religion of Islam. The Islamic empire is known for Dar-Al-Islam which is the Islamic golden age where new technologies etc. flourish the religion of Islam. “ Scientific, medical, and philosophical texts, especially from ancient Greece, the Hellenistic world, and India, were systematically translated into Arabic, for several centuries providing an enormous boost to Islamic scholarship and science.”(440) This means that the Muslims ancient texts related to science, medicine and philosophy, and written it in Arabic. This helped the Islamic empire because it expanded their knowledge and helped them understand the material from other empires as well. This affected Islam because with understanding of the texts, they would incorporate it into the faith to meet the standards of Sharia. Going more in depth, the Arabs in the Islamic empire developed Algebra, which is used today. “ Using Indian numerical notation, for example, Arab scholars developed algebra as a novel mathematical discipline.”(441) The Arab scholars were influenced by the Indians with their numerical notations, and with that foundation, they built a new type of math. This affected the religion of Islam because since Algebra was popular, many would incorporate it into their own understandings of it, and some merchants were probably welcomed into the empire for Algebra, and later on converted to Islam. Out of all the
