CHAPTER I
THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
1.1 Introduction
If a man gained profit by selling or buying goods to other people and he turned to it as his source for living. It is called Business. A Business can be in a single proprietorship, a partnership or a corporation. To make a business manageable and organize it needs guidelines for procurement, product creation and selling etc to solidify its stand. as a Business grows demands up rises even competition, to compete with rivals solutions are generated to keep a certain company on top of others. Those solutions are quality materials, competitive employee, better understanding of product and today’s best solution is a fit Information System needed by company that will suit its needs

This system will help the corporation specifically, the warehouse and purchasing department in terms of connecting them through a network to monitor and updates the stocks. The system also checks the cost of raw materials from time to time and informs specific personnel in charge of ordering Through SMS.
1.2 Statement of the Problem The main problem of the study is to develop a Network-based Warehouse Inventory and Monitoring System with SMS notification that will help GC Drive Industrial Corporation to monitor the materials and cost needed in more efficient and effective way.
1.2.2 Specific Problems
1. What is the current process of monitoring the raw materials and cost of raw materials of GC Drive Industrial Corporation?
2. How to develop a notification system that will inform the user that the stock is in critical status?
3. How to develop a module that will determine the cost of raw materials needed in constructing specific industrial projects?
4. How to design a record system that will monitor the raw materials which avoid duplication of the orders?
5. How to develop a report generator that will help GC Drive Industrial Corporation to view or print the reports needed?
1.3 Objectives of the Study
1.3.1 General Objective
This study aims to develop and implement Network-based Warehouse Inventory and Monitoring System with SMS notification that will help GC Drive Industrial
Data source – How would the firm collect this measurement information? Accounting system that will monitor price and quantity variance in the supplies the company uses in production.
PRADA has long been adopted management information systems into most of their business part including manufacturing, sales, and human resource management. PRADA has Group information technology director who primarily responsible for the management of the Group’s information technology system. In 2000s, by using radio frequency identification (RFID), PRADA tried to controls manufacturing system, inventory, warehousing, distribution, logistics, automatic object tracking and supply chain management. What PRADA expected from RFID technologies were improve the potential benefits of supply chain management through reduction of inventory losses, increase of the efficiency and speed of
When conducting operation functions in any organization, a set of rules and common procedures must be abided by to ensure that the highest level of consistency and accuracy is maintained. The receiving of Raw material can be improved upon by reducing the paper load that one would have to follow just to be able to track and store data from the point of shipping to unloading the raw materials at a factory. By creating a new system
Create a POS that will track inventory, who made the sale and when to reorder
Handheld mobile computers are efficient, have the ability to scan and allow for accurate, real-time data and inventory control and can be used throughout the supply chain process to enable instant inventory adjustments. Bar-coding is essential for just-in-time systems. Using scanners with a handheld PC will decrease the number of errors that occur from manual entry of data for inventory purposes. (ecampus.phoenix.edu, November 2009)
The system will automatically update data inventory for raw material once a shipment has been confirmed from an approved manager’s wireless device. The System shall provide a large data server for all invoices to be scanned in and stored for record purposes. Invoices scanned in will be stored by a Date-Time-Company Code-Order Number, as well as a search function providing employees the ability to retrieve original invoice forms. The system will update all data servers for receiving, shipping, raw materials used and final products produced continuously throughout day-to-day operations.
The Home Depot Rapid Deployment Center’s inventory tracking system is based on a star network configuration. Each employee uses a Radio Frequency (RF) scanning gun to create labels placed on all inventory as it is received into inventory. Then, the labels on the inventory are scanned and located to predetermined locations in the building, tracking the inventory’s movement through the building. This tracking ensures that no inventory is lost while transitioning from receiving until it is placed on the correct trailer for shipment to our stores. Another function of the RF guns are to track the work being performed by the employees to compare against a predetermined set of standards. This data tells a story of how effectively each person is completing
The sole purpose of this project is to advance and streamline Riordan Enterprise's inventory and manufacturing processes by introducing a new cost effective way for all company locations to communicate and deliver their critical data in a timely efficient manner. Riordan Enterprises should explore and then utilize available technological advancements in system tracking products in order to remain competitive in today's marketplace.
Wal-Mart currently has one of the most advanced inventory management systems due to their use of RFID tracking capabilities. Every product is equipped with a radio frequency identification tag, which identifies the location and type of product in the warehouse. As the product leaves the warehouses, there are readers in place at the door that automatically recognize which products are leaving and entering the warehouse. The benefit of this is that it limits the use of employees better employed elsewhere and has impeccable accuracy, much more accurate and faster than if employees were to take inventory. The service that our product provides is to take this current technology and to implement it at a grocery stores as well as retail in the

tracking the actual cost of manufacturing particular components to see what the real return on investment is for those parts
The inventory and production departments also have issues. Currently, inventory is done by the receiving area supervisor confirming the shipping documents against incoming orders by hand. This allows for human error and is not a quick or efficient way to do inventory. The same process is used when production takes items from inventory. The inventory system is only updated once daily when new raw materials arrive and then again once daily from production when the raw material is used. The lack of tracking and checking in a timely manner leaves the organization’s processes at a higher risk of failure. The inventory system does not currently communicate with the sales or with the Finance and Accounting applications. This may lead to a
All warehouse and logistic company strives to improve its operational efficiency to ensure all transaction runs smoothly. Technology and materials handling revolution have become significant catalysts in the evolution of smarter and efficient warehouses. Yamato Transport needs to leverage technology that can give them access to actionable information that can be used in real-time. Identify whether workers needs to have access to mobile technology such as smartphones or other technology. In addition, software solutions also can give warehouse administrators a outlook of customers, orders and inventory, as well as computerize warehouse processes effectively. (Dragan,
Nowadays, in an era that has advanced technology and a place in the world. Everything can be linked only at your fingertips in the times of rapidly developing with the sophisticated technology of today. Therefore, an inventory system is also not lagging behind in introducing a method of keeping an inventory data systematically and safely. The system plays a very important role in improving the competitiveness of a business. Usually, organizations today face too many challenges to achieve the cost, speed and reliability. Efficient inventory system really help in order to make sure the store’s performance and data record is always in good condition and secured from abusers. The system basically to ease the admin to manage the
Auto Identification techniques and Warehouse Management systems (WMS) are playing a crucial role in success of supply chains like retail, e-commerce, auto-industry, manufacturing etc. by reducing the transaction process time, efficient inventory control, security and tracking. Barcodes is the most widely used Auto-identification techniques. Recently RFID has gain importance in tracking the objects, paper less good receipts. With major application focus on inventory tracking, security access control, implementation of Auto-ids, replenishment systems, smooth dispatching and integration through ERPs Warehousing Management systems gaining success in reducing the lead time.
