Introduction This report will be discussing Ireland as a short break destination. It will also discuss the opportunities Ireland offers such as in their niche tourism. Niche tourism can be divided into many sectors for example: Special Interest tourism, Wild Life tourism, Adventure tourism, Cultural tourism, Religious tourism, Photographic tourism and many other forms of tourism. For tourists, niche tourism offers a more meaningful set of experiences (Robinson and Novelli, 2005) this report will focus on Heritage, cultural, shopping and Music tourism in Ireland in the main city of Dublin. They are dedicated to the memory of 49,400 Irish soldiers who died in the 1914 – 1918 war. The names of all the soldiers are contained in a manuscript in the granite bookrooms in the gardens. History lovers would visit this attraction in Dublin as tourist can choose to go on a short break holiday for history. Not many tourist do in fact go to the gardens. This can be fixed but more advertisements centered around the gardens. The Irish National War Memorial Gardens has received a Green Flag Award for 2016/17. The Green Flag is an international scheme which promotes the highest standards in parks and green spaces.(Green Flag) Dublin Castle Dublin Castle was built in the 13th century on a site previously settled by the Vikings it serviced as a military base, a prison, treasury, courts of law and the seat of English Administration in Ireland for 700 years. Dublin Castle was then rebuilt from the 17th century all the way to the 20th century. This is an attraction for tourist who love history and want to experience the castle. Music Tourism Music tourism is a defined segment within the tourism industry. The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) however they do not offer any criteria regarding what does and what does not establish a ‘music tourist’.
