The Iroquois was named by the French,but they wanted to be called the Haudenosaunee meaning people of the longhouse. The British called them the five nations. They lived in longhouses. They reached over 100 feet in length and could hold up to 60 people in one longhouse.
It was made with wooden frames and covered with bark. There were no windows but small holes in the roof so smoke from cooking fires could escape out of the longhouse. Many families could live in a single longhouse. They used animal skin to have privacy when they did their thing. Men hunted animals such as deer, rabbit,turkeys,etc.
They had enemies such as the Algonquin. Children used to work by helping their father hunt,or helping out at the house. They used bows and arrows
