The people in America are given something that not everybody's given. A chance to be successful and to survive, and most countries are not given that chance. Being in America offers a lot to the people. One of the most important right America offers to America is the chance to be ourselves and to live in a place were small wars are not going on between states or communities. The U.S. gives us a chance to be fed. The people in America are not surrounded by a majority of starving people. Instead we have one of the most powerful economy in the world.
Americans have been breaded to believe America is the greatest country in the world. America is a place of the freedom and possibilities, an outside looking in a very desirable place to live. However, America is not as great as Americans believe. Sure Americans have a wider range of freedom then most countries, but has plenty of issues that will repulse others from coming to the land of the free. Issues such as women’s rights, racism, and discrimination plague U.S. citizens nearly each day and that should change now.
America is not perfect, but one day it can be. Throughout the history of America there has been many failings and vain attempts to make America a Utopia. An American is supposed to be an idealized version of ourselves, a perfected image, yet that is not true, far from it even. There is still many struggles that we as americans face today, such as poverty and racism. In fact more that 45 million people fall under the poverty line in the 2014 census. There will eventually come a time where these discrepancies are abolished and I look forward to that day, but that day is not in the now. “A third-generation German American is an American. A third-generation Japanese American is a Japanese American.” This is one of the many examples of racism
America has developed many different freedoms and rights such as freedom of speech, right to free exercise, and the right to bear arms. No other country has the same rights. In some places, carrying a gun could possibly get someone killed. It is also illegal in some countries to speak out against someone that is in power, and can be punishable by death or brutality.
America is a selfish country that thinks that they are beyond others and everyone's out to get them. They are inhospitable to others from another country because they are scared that their jobs might be taken away.
Americans take many things for granted. For the majority of the population, life is relatively mild. People are normally not rich, but not poor, not ecstatically happy, but not too depressed either. One might say that the population generally has it easy, as compared to a large percentage of the rest of the world. It is for this reason that a great many people from other countries immigrate here. They are seeking a better life. Often, however, they get mistreated. Like the Mexican immigrants, who arrive here, only to be treated unfairly because of few opportunities, American prejudice, and Americanization. They do not come here to do harm, or to take advantage of Americans, or to do anything but
“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America...and to the republic for which it stands...one nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.” (“Is the United States a Democracy?”) The United States’ pledge is taught to children of all ages, plays an active role in the patriotism of the people, and it symbolizes the citizen’s promise to never violate the Republic of the United States of America. The founding fathers built the foundation of America on their ideological belief that the country should be a republic and that all mankind are created equally. However, over the years, America has gained the title as a democratic nation and the status quo of America being considered “the majority rule.” The present state of affairs of the American government proves to be incorrect because the United States is not a democracy. The United States has limited citizens to participate equally on various occasions, due to the emphasis the government has placed on non-democratic practices, inconsistencies, and discrimination regarding race, gender, and ethnicity.
The United States of America is a free country where anyone can come and try to start a new life. People from all walks of life can come to America if they feel like they might find better
When I think of America I think of the term ‘freedom’. In America, we have the freedom to believe in what we want to. We can choose our religion as long as we believe in
America was justified in going into war with Mexico because they wanted to respect their soldiers,Texas was now an American state, and Mexico lost control of the land.It took four people to cause the Revolutionary War,and it only took 16 men to start the Mexican-American War.In order to respect the American soldiers that were killed,America needed to go to war.Document B it states, “Texas had determined to annex herself to our union, and under these circumstances,it was it was plainly our duty to extend our protection over her citizens soil.”(Doc B)When Texas declared its independence,it was known to soon become an American state.Texas was seen as a sister to America and they wanted to protect the land that was invaded. On Document A it states,
America is known for its freedom. Freedom to speak your opinion, freedom to practice any religion that you choose, and freedom to criticize the government. American’s are able to have the power or right to act, speak, or even think about almost anything they wanted to without restraint from the government or from other people. Migrants from other countries come to the United States to have a chance at freedom. To raise a family away from war torn cities or harsh governments. They come to America in hopes of getting the chance to succeed in life and express themselves without anybody critiquing them. However, America is not as free as it’s made out to be. American history has been filled with racism and discrimination against
All Americans can agree that America stand for freedom, equal opportunities, and rights accompanied with responsibilities. Every single person in North America is given the right to their own freedom when they are born. When people are born they automatically have the amendments applied to their life like, the right to bear arms, freedom of speech and religion, the right to assemble, and many more. No matter who you are and no matter where in the U.S.A. you are, these rights apply to you. Every single amendment and law (in whichever state-border you are born in) apply to you and your whole life. It doesn't matter what your race or religion is, all of these rules and laws are your responsibility to abide by.
The land every American lives on is fought for by our brave soldiers. Every American is living in a society that is not afraid to speak their mind, or fight for they changes they believe in. Other countries do not have the brave soldiers, or the people fighting for what they want. In other countries speaking your mind is exceedingly more dangerous. Do you remember the story of Malala? Malala was a young girl who was shot by the Taliban for speaking her mind about women's education. Even after she was almost killed on her way home from school, she continues to fight for her right to learn. So as
Many countries have fast food and obesity problems, but America takes it to a whole other level. People don’t cook as much anymore and don’t eat healthily. They also don’t exercise. It’s pictures like this that have everyone wondering WTF and perpetuate stereotypes as to why so many Americans are obese.
America is not the Greatest Country is the first episode of HBO’s new television series The Newsroom. A news anchor, Will McAvoy, is seated between a strong liberalist, Susan, and a conservative, Lewis, on a journalism panel. When asked to describe why America is the greatest country from a student in the audience the anchor envisions someone in the audience using cue cards telling him, “It isn’t.” This persuades him to give his true opinion, and the anchor continues with a speech about why he feels this way. Will McAvoy uses bipartisan journalism to give the audience the impression that his approach on the subject is unbiased to distract them from his anti-American argument.
