Even though, American seems to be all peaches and roses it’s not. I have my own vision of America. It is for America to be successful by stop giving money to other countries, by helping the penniless and not letting society take over. The U.S. has an 18 trillion debt their debt is so big that they had to make up numbers. This are ways that has caused America not being able to be successful, But this can be reversed.
In order for the U.S. to be successful they must stop give money to other countries because for example, the United States it is paying researchers to study the effects of cocaine on Japanese quail and it has spent millions of dollars to train Chinese prostitutes to drink responsibly. The amount of money that they’re spending on this is ridiculously stupid. The Obama administration plan is to spend 16 to 20 million dollars on trying to help Indonesia students to get master’s degrees Also Fannie Mae is about to ask the federal government for another $4.6 billion bailout and they’re most likely to get it, which is money that they could use for other things. China is one of the countries that lends us more money than any other foreign nation but that didn’t stop America from spending 17.8 million

Instead of sitting there judging them for not being responsible for their life’s the U.S. should stand up and help them so that they can get back in the right path. Even though people don’t know their stories they can help those that probably made a mistake by giving them support. In Order to help penniless the United States must give them more shelter and more nourishment, “The number of individuals experiencing chronic homelessness declined by 16 percent, or 17,219 people, between 2010 and 2013. In 2013 over 90,000 individuals experiencing homelessness were reported as chronically homeless (92,593 people), and over two-thirds of them were living on the streets (63,175 people).” Which is pretty
Homelessness is a serious societal problem affecting our communities. Katel of Housing the Homeless says “about 1.5 million Americans use a shelter in a given year- and advocates for the homeless say that figure badly understates the problem.” Yet, society looks down at these people, not doing anything to help them. They are judged, criticized, and bombarded by false assumptions everywhere they go. I have heard people say “they are like that because they chose to” or “they are lazy and don't want to work.” This is not true in most cases. The reality is life can go wrong at any moment for anyone. For some people there is no one there to help them and their only option is living on the streets or a shelter.
A homeless person is an individual without a permanent, stable housing situation who either spends his or her nights on the streets or in temporary facilities, such as shelters and abandoned buildings. Throughout history, society has been “holding the poor, rape or incest victims, minorities, or the handicapped responsible for their misfortunes” (Zur). Society has been blaming the homeless for being in the position they are in. However, upon closer inspection, it must be noted that “children under the age of 18 accounts for 39% of the homeless population…battered women who live in poverty are often forced to choose between abusive relationships and homelessness…[and] 40% of homeless men have served in the armed forces” (Who Is Homeless?). It is clear that those who are homeless are not
Many skeptics challenge the reasoning for investing so much money into helping so many other countries when that money could instead help us improve internal affairs. After all, foreign aid spending has increased to $50 billion a year today, which could be put towards funding education to ensure that more kids go to college and possibly affecting the innovation of the future(Morris). Giving more than you receive is nice, but when it involves a country 's financial crisis, maybe it 's best if Santa cuts back some of this year 's presents. And although the argument may be valid, lending out a helping hand can create more allies than enemies to help us in return when we need it. In fact, foreign aid only accounts for 0.5 percent of the federal budget (Stearn). Compared to all the other matters at hand that the government is worrying about, the amount of spending put into aiding poorer countries is positive in both a moral aspect and a political aspect.
Listen up, have you ever thought of how lucky you are to be in the position you are in today? It is the thousand and fourteen and a great number of us are fortunate enough to get smart phones and live of a comfortable life with little struggle. The department of urban housing and improvement takes counts of all those who are homeless, a whooping seven million Americans was the outcome of the count. The number is pretty high but to give you more a visual, for every three hundred and thirteen, seven people are homeless. What if I told you something that could change the way you look at all people; hit a little closer to home? Do you know that one out of forty eight teenagers are at risk of becoming homeless or had a homeless episode? That hits pretty strong knowing that this can happen to someone. I have seen very few of my friends going through this because they told me about this, no telling what others who couped it in went through. I believe in helping those who are not as fortunate as I am by just donating my time to treat them just as I would
There’s a lot of times in a person’s life that they have had to either travel to a big city or live in one. Most of the time they are focused on their life, events that are happening for them, or issues they are having. Some don’t even notice the people sitting on the sides of the steps leading to big buildings. Holding signs that say, “Help, can you spare any change?” How many times have you passed by a person holding a sign like this? Have you ever noticed how so many people cannot have anywhere to go or call home? Do you ever wonder why there are so many people out there who don’t have anything but the clothes on their back and are out in the streets begging for whatever they can receive from others? Maybe they just were down on their luck. Some of them you would probably think was because of their own fault. Maybe it was, or maybe because of circumstances out of their control they just lost it all. Families as well as individuals can be homeless. The National Center on Family Homelessness notes that about one-third of the homeless population in the U.S. involves families with 1.6 million children homeless at some point during the year. (Bush) There are reasons that exist to why people lose their homes, jobs, and why after is happens they can’t get back up on their feet again. According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, over 610, 042 people experience homelessness on any given night in the US.
Just because one homeless person has committed a crime or used the money he has collected on things such as alcohol or drugs does not mean that every homeless person is going to be like that. Many homeless people are Vietnam veterans, have a mental illness, or cannot survive in this economy which we are in. I have had a few experiences with homeless people but there is one which is unforgettable. It is much like when Nathaniel Ayres begins yelling at Mr. Lopez then proceeds to apologize later on (Lopez, 258). Most homeless people do not receive aid from the government or do not receive enough aid which is why they resort to panhandling. Seeing these many homeless people shows us how well our government is doing in protecting its people.
In today 's falling economy, homelessness is something seen on every street-corner of the big cities. Begging for money isn 't uncommon, and the more that stocks fall and the more money we spend on this war, the likelihood of an American of any income class becoming homeless grows within every passing day. Although the problems of homeless individuals, who struggle in the real world with nothing, the government should intervene within the population of homeless people because within every passing day numerous of less fortunate people has nothing but to spend their lives on the street.
Homeless people tend to make any and everything a home. We’re on the outside looking in and we have no clue what their circumstance may be. Personally, I feel that homeless people have resources but they choose not to use them. For example in Houston, Texas there are approximately 5,341 homeless people. The reason for this is because
So many homeless people are among us these days because of whatever reason. They are still human and shouldn’t be ignored because they are homeless. I wish people didn’t look at homeless people in such a demeaning way. There are currently 564,708 people in the U.S. that are homeless. According to a recent report done in June of 2016, over half a million people were living on the streets, in cars, in homeless shelters, or in subsidized transitional housing during a one-night national survey last January. Of that number, 206,286 were people in families, 358,422 were individuals, and a quarter of the entire group were children. As shocking as these statistics are, there are so many great organizations working tirelessly to end homelessness in the U.S. and around the world. People should get inspired by their work and success, continue reading some of the (delete some of the) Social Solutions case studies that feature clients who work with the homeless population, instead of turning a blind eye and ignoring
Let’s begin with the true definition of homelessness. It’s very common for the average person to only consider a homeless person to be living on the street and begging. Which is fine but let’s not state the obvious when dealing with an issue of this importance. Let’s not just stretch the surface and dig deep into the actually meaning of homelessness.
You ask what my vision for America is, and well, my vision for America is an America where I can attend college. My vision for America is an America where I can start a family one day, without worrying how I can feed them. My vision for America, is an America where I can live a life born from an immigrant, while granted the rights and opportunities of everyone else. My vision for America is an America that holds my
When I think about America in the future, I get excited. I imagine towering and elegant buildings, beautiful forests with animals that we have saved from going extent, and less pollution than ever before. Although we may not find everything tangible such as paying off debt, finding jobs in abundance, or people treating everyone with kindness regardless of gender, race or religion, all would have a hope for a better place in which to live. Improved work ethics would increase productivity in our society. All of these reasons make my vision for America seem possible and great.
Throughout our cities streets we see a majority of people who are homeless everyday. What was once almost a rare site to see, has now become something common and is increasing in great numbers. As a society our first instinct when we see a homeless person is to ignore them and judge them based on how they look and what they’re doing. We don’t seem to take into consideration that they may be homeless based on their circumstances. Many people try to help those who are homeless, but it’s not enough. If we have laws that prevents people from being homeless, then shouldn’t we have laws enforcing resources for those who find themselves homeless? As a society we have many ways to help those who desperately want and need the help. It would not be a matter of supporting them forever but helping them and giving them the opportunity to get back on their feet. We have the ability to create a system that offers people a second chance when life has knocked them down.
What is the one thing that all people wish they had, or take for granted if they do have? This is a thing that most do not even realize that they have the luxury to call their own. Some find it with family and friends, some with material things, and some with the mental state they call normal. This is a home. People are in constant poverty all around us and we do nothing to help. While poverty is a little different from homelessness, it’s no different in the fact that millions of people all across the United States are struggling to get by every day, and we do nothing to help. People live in community housing, in the streets, in cardboard shelters, in between buildings and alleys, under bridges and inside of sewers. But these are just the well-known places, created by the ‘hollywood movie’ standards of homeless people. Poverty is happening all around you, whether it be by the neighbors that can’t afford to buy groceries anymore, the couple downtown that has nowhere to stay because their apartment building was burned to the ground, or the children that run away from their abusive or destructive families in desperate attempts to regain the grip of control on their life. If there has ever been a more pressing time for the citizens of the U.S. to stand up for each other, it is now. I believe that while there are many ways to help the homeless and assist them, but some of these solutions are not working. If we can locate the good and honest
Not a day goes by in the city where homeless people can been seen sleeping in parks, or standing in street corners holding cups for spare change. These men, women and even adolescents with disheveled appearances seem catch our eyes are we pass them on the streets. We see them as we pass by, but often ignore them because we don’t want to be bothered with the question “can you spare a dollar, or some change for coffee?” We tend to look beyond the person and only to think of them as a burden to society. After all, these people are just lazy who like to live off hard working people like us. Or perhaps they are just disgusting drug addicts looking for another quick fix of dope or a bottle of booze. Either way let’s just scrape them off or sooner or later they will just go away. They will move to the next block or city neighborhood to bother someone else. Who cares anyway they are not our problem!
