Getting a “good” job is not straightforward as it used to be. In past generations, someone in an entry-level position could work their way up the ladder simply through hard work and determination; whether or not one had credentials or a diploma mattered very little. It was evident that many found it to be useful later on in life and helped them mature and grow intellectually. Gutting also points out that although many people find themselves to be successful later on after college that not everybody had the same experience, many had to drop out for the fact that a higher education was considered to be too expensive, or dropout rates too high. It is evident that he deems college to be an investment for many people who were fortunate enough to attend, therefore, providing the habits of mind of engagement, persistence, and openness to display how they play key points to the qualifying traits of a college student.

Author Charles Murray writes in “Are Too Many People Going to College”, that college in some ways is unnecessary due to the core knowledge we learn growing up. College is where you become a “cultivated human being” not where you become layers or doctors.

I believe the answer to the question “Is College Worth the Cost?” depends on how well students plan for their educational career. As an example, if I go to the college to become a dental assistant but don't find any jobs due to low demand for dental assistant then college does not worth the cost. In contrast if I plan well and do some research to find high employer demand fields then after I graduate from college I can find a job based on the college degree.

Academia is “the environment or community concerned with the pursuit of research, education, and scholarship,” or, in other terms, college. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in October 2013, “65.9 percent of 2013 high school graduates were enrolled in colleges or universities”. This is the majority of high school graduates of the year 2013 in the United States, which is about 2.0 million young adults. But the real question is whether or not college is beneficial. Many people argue that college is a one time experience, and that it is worth the time and money required to complete it. However, college isn’t beneficial to all people's needs, and it is a waste of time and money that will never be returned.

Whether or not a college education is worth the money is controversial topic. Some people believe that going to college worth a better life. Other challenge this position, claiming that it is time and money wasting. However, the value of college is apparent, deciding whether it is worthwhile means weighing the value against the cost of attending. Although both sides of this issue has merit, it seems clear that a college education is a worthwhile investment because it is a means of gain knowledge, higher pay and stable future.

Americans have always believed that going to college is beneficial in many aspects and leads to a promising financial future.Recently, people have started to challenge this belief. Back in the day, if you had a college degree you were almost guaranteed a job. As Sir Ken Robinson puts it “You’re better having a degree than not, but it's not a guarantee”. Robinson has a valid argument; education trumps ignorance, but at the same, you don’t always have a high paying job waiting for you. Common sense seems to dictate that if their isn’t a job awaiting you then why waste money on a degree? This imposes another debate; are colleges worth the price of admission? In Andrew Hacker’s recent studies, Hacker seeked to compose an answer. He concluded that

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” -Nelson Mandela. “Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.” -Malcom X. The use of education is unlimited and can be of use for so many reasons. Getting a college education will benefit the student in multiple ways and will be very helpful for their future career.

As you graduate high school you begin to think about whether to go to college or not. A huge number of people believe that college isn’t worth your time or your money. In my opinion, education after high school is absolutely worth your time and money. There are many reasons why you should go to college. Some reasons are, you can earn money and another is that you have a greater chance of getting a good and decent job. In this essay I will discuss the value of college and why it is important.

Is College worth it? Despite the cost of tuition increasing, Students are making a smart decision investing in college for majors that need a degree and are demanded by society. College is essential for many people to advance their status and become successful as shown by statistics, students, and the economy.

College is very worth it to me. I see it as an opportunity to take your knowledge you receive in the years leading up to college and taking it four steps further. Yes it is a huge money investment but with my 4.0 gpa and a passion to learn i think it is a great investment that I am willing to take. Many people think the only return from college that you get is your in dept for years, when I look at what I will walk away with from college it excites me. I'm gonna walk away with a masters degree in education which makes me happy to the moon. I know that perusing my passion in teaching and going to college for that is going to be a great investment.

In the debate about whether college is worth attending, many argue that college is worth it but others argue that college is not worth it. Those who argue that college is worth it contend to say that college graduates make more money, college allows students to explore career options, and not going to college will cost people more money in the future but on the other hand, those who argue that college is not worth it contend to say that college graduates are employed in jobs that do not require degrees, students who do not graduate waste their own money and the governments money, and student debt can cause another financial crisis for students who are already struggling with financial aid. While it is true that college does cause many problems already, college is worth attending and worth all the problems at the end of the road.
