Is Data Capture A Database?

A database is a structural set of related data that is organized in such a way that the information can be easily managed, accessed, and updated. The purpose of a database is to replace paper documents, files, and filing cabinets. The data collected in databases is an efficient way to store, retrieve, and analyze the information.

Data is a group of information that are used for various purposes like analysis, evaluations and to arrive at certain results or conclusions. Data reporting is a process where data is extracted form a source or many sources and then converted into a format that can be used for a purpose.

Databases are the heart of the company. This is where all crucial company information is stored and can be accessed. Some databases are stored on site others in remote locations or using clouds. The information within a database can be manipulated in any way that the company needs it to be. Databases help to quickly search and retrieve information, it saves from data redundancy.

Data is facts and numbers that hasn’t been modified or analysed for example times and numbers. When data is by itself it has no meaning to it however information by itself does have a meaning.

Second, Database is needed to take the collection of all sorts of sensitive data to organize, analyze, and extract data. It is the heart of many functions in today’s world. For example, when a password or user in a program it is checking the information type in against the information it stored in order to open the software. Databases solve most of the data management problems that are encountered.

Data is defined as useful raw material which is intended to be useful for both the originator and for the intended receiver. Data consists largely of facts and figures ideal for communicating the intended meaning. This data can be interpreted and can be categorised as follows;

Database, it is a place use to store lots of data. It can be seen as a filing cabinet. And database management system (DBMS) is software that specificity designs for managing the data in database such as create, update or delete them. General is including security, retrieval and backup features. User also allows using the data to create a report or share data with multi-user.

A database is an ordered collection of associated information. Database has data that is connected to each other. For example, a database that comprises information about company stock prices must not also contain information about student.

The electronic database is a collection of information that is organised so this can be easily accessed, managed and updated. It is a collection of reports, tables, queries and reviews. This can be in the form of titles or subject for instance personal or involvements. Category or reference number and you can store a wide range of information by collating information alphabetically, numerical and chronological.

Data comprises of factual information. Data are the facts from which information is derived. Data is not necessarily informative on its own but needs to be structured, interpreted, analysed and contextualised. Once data undergoes this process, it transforms in to information. Information should be accessible and understood by the reader without needing to be interpreted or manipulated in any way.

In my current job at Wellco Tank Trucks, Inc., we do not use any type of databases in the daily operations of our business. My only job that involved regular use of a database was at Chilcutt Direct Marketing (CDM) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. From February 2003 to June 2004, I was an Account Executive of Brokerage at CDM. CDM is a direct marketing company that manages and brokers customer mailing lists for companies across the United States.

Databases allow us to easily store and retrieve data in a purely digital format. The strength of this is that large amounts of data can be stored and retrieved with minimal effort on the part of the user. Opposed to manually flipping through files, one can quickly pull up the requested data through a computer program. Many systems that were conventionally paper and file based have been converted to a digital format which are now stored in one or more databases.

Since the company has many branches and deals with a whole lot of inventory, there is a need to act proactively and timely so that there are no delays in logistics. Projections of inventory, i.e. inventory forecasting, are often done in the operations and supply chain management so that overproduction and inefficiencies are avoided. Coca-Cola also uses historic data to find out the direction of future trends (Butler, 2015). The process is used by the company to determine near accurate allocation of budgets for future production periods (Jacobs, 2013). There is a need for Coca-Cola as a company to find out the events that affect the company production wise. The occurrences include expectations of sales, and whether they will cause an increase or a decrease in the share price of the company. Nonetheless, forecasting provides a necessary benchmark for Coca-Cola, which has a long-term perspective of operations.

It is leading in marketing, distributing an manufacturing its product which is the concentrate and syrup. Both the concentrate and syrup are sold to bottling companies for final product and packaging to consumers. Coca-Cola company has a wide range of products of about 500 different beverage brands around the world. In the early 1920 the company started its path of globalization, and now operating in more than 200 countries.
