Is Freedom Free

Freedom comes at a cost, and so some say it is not free, but what really is free in this world. Too many people today expect free things, but liberty, the right to bear arms and the right to come and go as you please do come at a cost.

Today’s America is clearly, completely, different then it was in the 1900’s. The people have more freedom than ever. There are still circumstances where the people are restricted. There is still racism “ignorance”, homophobia, and sexism. Modern day slavery, cults, and war are still practiced and active today. America has never been truly free. America should practice what it preaches which is “The land of the Free”. The America that the rest of the world sees and wants to be part of. “The Land of The free” is the reason people come to America. To escape the restrictions. Many people of the United States to be the greatest country there ever was, and ever will be. Americans claim their country the best, and reign unfailingly with shouts of freedom and liberty and religious tolerance who fight for their rights, even if it took away those of minority. The citizens believe their country to be unfathomably free, but is it really truly as they see? Is America really as free as we claim, is our beloved country the greatest nation out of all 194?

The ability to be free made this country into the melting pot it is today and that ability still brings many immigrants who believe in the “American Dream” to the country. Today freedom is often overlooked because all of us are use to it, but in many countries freedom is just the “American Dream”.

The power or right to act, speak or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. A word created by man to escape the bonds of tyranny to express the idea of what it means to persist one's own ambitions. Freedom. Freedom is not the absence of confinement but the will to achieve freedom when imprisoned. After carefully concluding the reading done over this semester one is able to clearly understand the confinement these early Americans felt and their decision to achieve a form of freedom. Freedom has always existed but it is the history of this nation that will define what actions freedom takes.

Freedom in America came from the Declaration of Independence. It states in paragraph 2 “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” (Jefferson, 1776) Freedom is a good thing because it allows

Freedom, to many people does not necessarily mean they are free. There are many degrees and definitions of freedom throughout the history of America many different races, genders, and ethnicities experienced. The varieties of freedom come from multiple groups of people such as slaves, indentured servants, Native Americans, property owners, and Puritans. All of these groups had their own definition of freedom they experienced, ranging from little to no freedom, freedom from the land they possessed, and the freedom to worship any God they so choose. However, some of these freedoms conflicted with the freedoms of others.

Our liberties of America didn’t come free. The Freedom of speech, the right to privacy, the right to a fair court trial, the right to marry, the right to vote, and the right to be free from unreasonable searches of your home. All of those rights have freedom attached and are convenient to everyone each and every day.

For a nation to truly be free, certain rights have to be available to the people. Freedom of speech, press, peaceful assembly, and religion are just a few of these things.

After the revolutionary war, they declared the United States of America a free nation, but was that entirely true? I don’t believe it is. After the revolution, slaves weren’t free until the civil war. Also, today, many people are fighting against people’s freedoms and restricting them. For example, The right to bear arms, the freedom of religion, and much more. Even regular people, of any age, fight for freedom all the time. It could be at the workplace, school, home, and more. Here's what i think.

What I shall continue with is a discussion of the relevance of Spinoza in understanding freedom. Now while I may have been fundamentally opposed to Spinoza’s claim that he was offering freedom in my previous papers, I feel that I am better equipped to speak about this issue now in terms of its relevance.

what is freedom? Is freedom all around us? And to what extent do we have “freedom”. Well, by using resources such as White Man's Burden, FreedomHouse.org, Declaration Of Rights Of Man And Citizen, and Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson, we can see that freedom is very much a privilege and is based on where you live.

Have you ever thought about how or why you have your freedom? People have been fighting for their freedom for many years; many people believe that their freedom should be given instead of demanded. Freedom should be given due to various reasons. Freedom makes up the lives of the people. It defines them as human beings. America has failed its promises to provide Americans with freedom. Freedom should be given because the amount of violence would be reduced, instead of saying that americans are equal, they as citizens of the United States would actually feel free, and there would be less stress upon the people. The voice of the people must be heard! This would have made the country much better.

For an American citizen my freedom is determined by the government, making me question if I am truly free. Arguably many Americans have a political dispute over our free, if our country is free or not. No doubt, I am by the side that thinks we aren’t free. We aren’t even close to being free, we aren’t a country who based our idea of being free and let people come into our country to feel safe and to feel at home. “The land of the free and the home of the brave” (Francis Scott Key) is the national anthem, it is saying men and women are free and we are a strong country that doesn’t give up on each other. In fact, we aren't even the top 15th freest country in the world, that should mean something.

What is freedom? Over the years, the meaning of freedom to Americans has evolved and changed immensely. America gained its freedom from Britain in 1776. African Americans gained freedom from the confines of slavery in 1863. Women gained freedom with the right to vote in 1920. But what do those events really mean? Ideals associated with freedom helped to shape the United States of America into the world power it is today. The true meaning of freedom in American societies is to have equality for all, independence from others, and a strong sense of nationalism.
