And for this final one, I’m going to try to make it a little shorter. (Applause.) I know some of you are antsy to get back to Iowa. (Laughter.) I 've been there. I 'll be shaking hands afterwards if you want some tips. (Laughter.)
And I understand that because it’s an election season, expectations for what we will achieve this year are low. But, Mr. Speaker, I appreciate the constructive approach that you and the other leaders took at the end of last year to pass a budget and make tax cuts permanent for working families. So I hope we can work together this year on some bipartisan priorities like criminal justice reform -- (applause) -- and helping people who are battling prescription drug abuse and heroin abuse. (Applause.) So, who knows, we might surprise the cynics again.
But tonight, I want to go easy on the traditional list of proposals for the year ahead. Don’t worry, I’ve got plenty, from helping students learn to write computer code to personalizing medical treatments for patients. And I will keep pushing for progress on the work that I believe still needs to be done. Fixing a broken immigration system. (Applause.) Protecting our kids from gun violence. (Applause.) Equal pay for equal work. (Applause.) Paid leave. (Applause.) Raising the minimum wage. (Applause.) All these things still matter to hardworking families. They’re still the right thing to do. And I won 't let up until they get done.
But for my final address to this chamber, I don’t want to just talk
Instead, Nunn supports investing in our infrastructure, education, and improve Research and Development methods. By investing in projects such as the Savannah Harbor Deepening, Nunn will reduce the federal deficit and create jobs. In order to make these intelligent short and mid-term investments, unnecessary spending must be cut. In addition, Nunn aims to simplify the tax code. Reducing unnecessary government regulation on businesses will boost economic growth as well. Nunn commended the Congress for meeting before the October 17th deadline. However, Michelle cannot tolerate petty stubbornness, especially with our economy in the balance. Nunn represents moving forward, supporting the closed door “Gang of Eight” deal; everybody plays a part in ensuring the continued growth of our
Nothing makes me happier then acting like an actually mother to you all even though way more then half of you in this room are older then me. Baking for you all, giving out advice, and my favorite cleaning up after your parties (mostly when I am still hammered and at the party) brings nothing more to my face then a smile. Seeing you all truly happy is what makes me happy. In life, there are few moments better than those that are filled with absolute, unequivocal happiness and with no doubt I feel like being your fraternities sweetheart will be a moment I will always cherish. I would like to say one last thank you, thank you to the vertex, 519, Hammond, terrace, mill manor, titty city, campus, la Jolla, the dean and to every location I have made the best memories at. I am signing out by saying on last thing, thank you to the DKE’s who have encouraged me to black out, to the DKE’s who have blacked out with me, and to all of the DKEs who have helped me in a black out. Thank you boys for being my sweethearts just like I hope to be
During the activity, I chose federal budget cuts for domestic programs and foreign aid. I cut foreign aid in half. I do not think that America needs to help the world anymore. We have already helped out a lot and we should only help towards people that really need it, such as starving Africans, instead of funding wars overseas. I cut the pay of civilian federal workers by 5 percent. People in the federal government get paid more and more every year while citizens of our country get paid a lower minimum wage than a lot of other places in the world. I cut 250,000 government contractors. There are more contractors than government officials, which means more money spent on a government that does not fully have the needs of the country in mind. In addition, I chose federal budget cuts for the military. I reduced the number of troops in Iraq and Afghanistan to 30,000 by 2013. We do not need the troops in Iraq or Afghanistan anymore. The war is over. Let the country figure out what it needs to do by itself. We helped create the uprising there, so we can help diminish it by reducing troops. I also chose federal budget cuts for healthcare. I enacted medical malpractice reform. I think it is important that our doctors research as much as they can about a procedure or a medicine, so that they can provide the proper care for a patient and reduce the risk of getting sued.
By being compassionate toward all groups of people and budgeting for more funding for public schools, I believe that America will be significantly healed of the wounds it currently has. As the leader of our country, it is the President’s job to set an example for us all and lead America in the most prosperous direction. I truly hope that the President will consider what is best for all Americans, not just a select few, when making decisions during his time as our Chief of
Snowe believes that there is strength in compromise, courage in appeasement and honor in consensus building. Our country needs to make room for compromising, working with each other, discussing and acting in the national interest rather than having a limited political agenda. The essence of public service is about having a conversation even with those we disagree with; it is bringing people together to work out a reasonable resolution to issues that are important to the American public—as a diversified nation, elected officials should look beyond their differences and find common ground that can be achieved in order to acquire enough support to pass legislation for the common good of the people—this is how Senator Snowe conducted her political
Make health care affordable to all people. we will work with all people and look at your income to get you an affordable health care.
Also no one can have a fortune of more than 100 to 300 times the average family fortune. Secondly, the yearly family income will not be less than one-third the average family income. Thirdly, the average hours on a typical work day will be regulated in order to prevent overproduction and to give workers some time for recreational activity. Finally he plans to agree to pension program for people over 60 years of age, pay the veterans of our wars, provide equal opportunity of education and training for all children, and to raise taxes to provide support for this program.
We must do what no generation has had to do before. We must invest more in our own people, in their jobs, and in their future, and at the same time cut our massive debt. And we must do so in a world in which we must compete for every opportunity. It will not be easy. It will require sacrifice, but it can be done and done fairly, not choosing to sacrifice for its own sake but for our own sake. We must provide for our Nation the way a family provides for its children."(William J. Clinton: "Inaugural Address," January 20, 1993. Online by Gerhard Peters and John T. Woolley, The American Presidency Project. http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/?pid=46366.). Let's see if he improves all these major issues he addresses in this highly respected speech among men, in the end he does it
How are things working out for all of the campaign promises? How about the deficit? The war? Defunding ObamaCare? Oh, didn't the GOP vote to confirm Cass Sunstein? How is illegal immigration working out for you? (Actually, I know the answer: really well as your big corporate buddies love it. Especially down in the colonias). It is modern day slavery. Has Grover started any new Muslim Brotherhood front groups you and the Bushes can pass off as the good guys? How about some more FCC regulation on the Internet?
First I urge you all to fix our broken personal tax code, a tax code that because of complexity allows some to slip by at the expense of the government and the American people. Our current process of personal income taxation is so complex most Americans are clueless as to how much they are paying and where it is going. What the American people want is fairness, what the American people deserve is fairness, and what this body of congress has the moral obligation to provide is fairness. Not only do we need to eliminate loopholes and complexity but we also need to tax at a level of Austerity that is realistic for our spending. Asking senators, congressman, and congresswoman to try implementing policy that could potentially mean
The federal budget is in crisis and the national debt is growing by the second. In an effort to stabilize the budget, I propose to cut spending in the areas of reducing troops in Afghanistan, healthcare, tax expenditures, and social security amongst others. While the premise behind helping others in our nation and abroad is an honorable idea, we need to find ways to do this while incentivizing people who work hard, rather than penalizing them.
One of the most important orders of business in this campaign has to do with finding constructive ways
Most important is that, this policy couples budget recommendations with game-changing proposals that will transform
"As the proposal continues to move forward through an open and transparent process and comes to the Senate floor, I encourage my Democrat colleagues to put aside their misguided rhetoric; stop the political theatrics; and join President Trump, Republicans in Congress, and the majority of Americans who want a better tax system," Capiot said. "The train is leaving the
We have to raise pay, make great paying employments, and fabricate an economy that works for everybody—not only those at the top. I'll cut expenses for the white collar class, raise the lowest pay permitted by law, and guarantee the wealthiest pay what's coming to them. I'll put resources into framework and training. Also, I'll offer folks some assistance with balancing work and family.
