Is it right or wrong to inflict physical injury for a property crime? My answer is... It depends, where on this planet you live. For example, in 1980, merely 36 years ago, it was socially accepted for children to be spanked with a paddle in Arizona high schools. There are several types of justices which are dispensed today. Such as, Distributive justice, Deterrence justice, Retributive justice and of course Restorative justice. It is evident that justice is viewed differently around this planet. However, I believe everyone despite what the justice maybe, demands that the justice is delivered fair and equally. In the United States of America, it is not socially accepted to physically injure a person for a property crime. Where as in Singapore,
Why Spanking Children is Wrong Parents have been spanking their children for hundreds of years, but recently this practice has come into question. The concern is not regarding the effectiveness of spanking but the correctness of spanking. Parents should not be allowed to strike their children. Child abuse is defined as any unnecessary or intentional physical or emotional or sexual mistreatment of children. Spanking is not the only method of child discipline. Spanking is not even the most effective method of child discipline. Numerous studies have made it evident that spanking does have a negative effect on children. Spanking children should be considered child abuse because it teaches children the wrong message about hitting, it does not
I am going to begin by discussing the violent crime. There are 4 main classes of violent crime. These classes consist of: Murder and Negligient Homicide, Forcible Rape, Robbery and Aggravated Assault. These crimes are usually defined as offenses that include force or the threat of force. The violent crimes are listed under the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program. There are other crimes which classify as violent crimes, these include: Burglary, Larceny-theft and Motor Vehicle theft. The FBI uses a system to classify crimes from the worst crime, Murder and Negligient Homicide, being at the top of the list, and the least serious crime, Motor Vehicle theft, being at the bottom of the list. One crime which is listed on both violent crimes and property crimes is Arson, depending on the circumstances surrounding the offense at the time.
(Stone 2014) But is physically and mentally hurting a kid overall correct? We all came from different beliefs, cultures, and parents yet we still shouldn’t hurt a kid as a form of punishment. It’s just not right. These types of parents are representing who they are, what they believe in, and there culture.
Should spanking and other forms of physical punishment be illegal. Strict parents say yes, leniant parents say no. What can be the affects of such behavior? A child who has gotten itno trouble may be victim of this punishment that has been accepted moreso in third world countries. A mother of four who has been fed up has a youngest child. When a child acts up, it can be seen as okay to spank or discipline. A displanory action. Why not? Why isn't that okay? Usually when a parent spanks the child, the child retreats and does not commit whatever the offense. They, "are cured" or are they now terrified of their caregivers? What if the child has taken negative contitations after recieving a spank? The child may go to school sad, and
The gut microbiome supplies the human host with metabolic capabilities beyond those encoded by its own genome (Khan et al., 2014). Because host metabolism is effectively regulated by the amalgamation of host and microbial genes (Khan et al., 2014), we should expect the gut microbiota to play a fundamental role in the health of its host. A compendium of research evidence demonstrates a compelling link between obesity and gut microbial composition. The connection between obesity and the gut microbiota is illustrated in the effects of diet on microbial diversity, the association of host genotype with microbial plasticity, the correlation of microbial diversity and metabolic disease, and the modulation of host metabolism by gut
A new study published in interdisciplinary Journal of Research on Religion said that religion contributes more to US economy than Facebook, Google and Apple combined.
If a child is doing something wrong and the parent chooses to “swat” the child then they are violating the law because they are inflicting “physical injury inflicted on the child.” Is this wrong or is it right?
Spanking: Right or Wrong form of physical punishment? Physical punishment has been a common form of discipline that parents use to punish their children. Spanking is the act of striking the buttocks of children with hand, belt, paddle, swithch, and other house hold tools to cause temporary pain without physical injury for discipline. In recent years, there has been a heated debate on whether parents should or should not spank their children. Experts and many others agree that spanking can cause many negative effects for later on in life.
In 2012 to 2013, there has been a decrease within violent offenses in Arizona. According to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting, since 2010, Arizona violent crime rates have remained greater than the country’s violent crime rate. Violent crimes as measured by four violent index offenses, being murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. In the case of violent crimes, we will go into detail on Aggravated Assault. Aggravated assault has been described as the effort to cause severe physical injury to another. A.R.S. § 13-1204, also defines that the offender commits the assault intentionally, commits crime knowingly, purposely and intentionally. According to Block (1981), violent crime could be comprehended as social behavior, which consist of two individuals and their interaction. In the following case of aggravated assault, it would individual whom attacked an individual, which results in purposely inflicting bodily injury.
“…you can't tell your child not to hit others and then raise your own hand to him." says Lewis Goldberg. Many people are not for spanking for the same reasons that Lewis mentioned. They argue that spanking is “corporal punishment”, which is classified as child abuse. This can have
”(Child welfare information gateway) “Most people would agree that sexually assaulting or causing serious physical harm to a child qualifies as abuse. ”(Child abuse). I also agree, anything that causes bodily harm is considered abuse. A person getting spanked, or hit across their bottom for disciplinary reasons is not abuse in my opinion.
Even after years of research, the issue of whether spanking is an adequate discipline strategy or damaging to children remains a controversial topic. According to Kazdin and Benjet (2003) the definition of spanking is “. . . hitting a child with an open hand on the buttocks or extremities with the intent to discipline without leaving a bruise or causing physical harm (p. 100). In addition, according to Maguire-Jack, Gromoske and Berger (2012) only a few studies propose that spanking is an effective form of discipline. On the other hand, there is more evidence to show that spanking is an unsuccessful form of discipline that can led to unwanted consequences (p. 1960). I personally do not take a stance in this topic because I can see valid points from both parties. Although, I believe that the way the punishment is presented to the child is extremely important. For example, I feel that the child should know why he or she is punished and what is expected of them thereafter.
While stealing is unacceptable in some cases there are other cases where it isn’t. I believe that punishment depends on the type of stealing someone does and the reason why they did it. First, If you steal money you should be punished because it’s someone else’s thing. Something they value. When you take something away from someone, that is physically stealing something which we all know is a bad thing. It is especially bad when it is something that people work hard for. Money. Secondly, If you steal a phone or something important to someone you should be punished. This is another example of physically stealing something. Stealing money is terrible, but when your phone gets taken, to most teens that's even worst. Finally If you steal bases
Corporal punishment is wrong because it causes long-term negative effects on students. If a student receives a paddling as a punishment it could cause serious problems for that student mentally and physically. One example of this is in an article called Should Corporal Punishment Be Used in K-12 Schools?. It says “frequent use of corporal punishment leads to a higher risk for anxiety, depression, substance abuse, stress, and other mental health”. These would be dangerous for a child’s health. In serious cases this could even lead to suicidal thoughts. Not only can corporal punishment affect a child's mental health, it can also have an affect on their performance in school. Another example from an article says, “Students who experience corporal punishment in
There are many groups in society that strongly disagree with immunisations and feel that they are not beneficial. These people therefore refuse to get immunised and remain unimmunised. A worker in a retirement home states that colleagues of hers ended up having time off of work after the flu vaccine. “The flu vaccine was introduced as a free vaccine to health care workers 21 years ago and I chose not to have it and I ended up working overtime, filling in for people who had gone off sick after having had the flu vaccine – and that included all management staff. Some of them got quite sick. Last year our bosses went off sick about a week after they had had their flu shots while I remained well.” She continues to remain in good health although being exposed to these diseases, although she is not immunized she has not become unwell. She is a strong supporter against immunisation, and continues to stand by her opinion, even in a vulnerable work environment. She also states that she believes, through experience that the vaccines are causing more harm than good, “the practice of vaccination has caused far more harm than if those wielding the needles would have left well alone.” She also recalls many people having reactions after receiving the flu vaccine. Including one colleague who had a sever reaction where she states; “One…said she started feeling sick immediately after getting the vaccine. She developed a headache which got worse over the day. By the next day her eyes
