What is a hero? A hero is Johnny Cade. Johnny is a hero for many reasons, he is kind, selfless, and courageous despite the way he was raised with his selfish mother and abusive father. These among many reasons are why Johnny Cade is a hero. As mentioned earlier Johnny was kind. One example of his kindness is when he made dally stop messing with cherry. Another example is when he wrote the note to ponyboy and didn’t think of himself. Johnny was kind and wanted to make everyone around him feel better. In addition to being kind Johnny was also selfless. This was demonstrated during the fire when there was a possibility he would die but he still saved the little kids. He was also selfless when he saved ponyboy from the socs. Another example

Johnny is an awesome case of chivalry since he demonstrates that everyone has gallant characteristics of valiance boldness and support within them and all it takes is an occasion to bring the qualities out. Johnny performed a good deed by defending Cherry Valance from Dallas Winston’s chastising at a drive-in. Also, he saves Ponyboy from being drowned by Bob and his friends. There are several people in our times that are considered a hero. Whether, these heroes are fictional or nonfiction, they all portray some kind of heroic abilities.

The characters Johnny, Darry and Dally, could be considered heroes in the novel, The Outsiders, for several reasons. The character, Johnny Cade, can be considered a hero for his many good qualities, but his heroic actions in saving children from a church fire, ultimately resulted in his untimely death.

A hero can be anyone your neighbor your friend or maybe even a stranger on the street.But to be a hero you must be someone who is kind, caring and risks his or her life for someone. Some heroes in the outsiders were Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally.
His greatest heroic achievement was saving the children from the burning church on Jay Mountain. Ponyboy yelled to the children's teacher, “I’ll get them, don’t worry!” and immediately rushed into the church to rescue them. This demonstrated Ponyboy's courage because he disregarded his own safety out of concern for the kids. Ponyboy also showed heroism when he ran away with Johnny.

I think johnny is the hero because he saved all of those kids who he could have let them die but he didn’t he sacrificed his life to save their lives but he did because he didn’t want them to die but it ended up backfiring on him and since he broke his back in the church it caused him to to stay in the hospital and he died after the rumble when they were visiting him but ponyboy is a hero to because he helped the kids to but he just got a big bruise on his back he did not end up like johnny did but he was sick all ready and and he also went and participated in the rumble and he has had the roughest week of his life ever and two of his friend have died.
In relation to point one, something that makes Ponyboy Curtis a hero was his decision to risk his life and run into the burning church to save the children.
Johnny would do anything to save his friends. After Dally drove Pony and Johnny to eat some much- needed food. They came back to see the church that Johnny and Pony were hiding out in on fire. There was a school having a picnic there. Some of the kids trapped inside the church. Without saying anything, Pony jumped out of the car and ran into the burning church with Johnny behind him. Right after saving the kids, Pony described, ‘‘Johnny shoved me out the window. ‘Get out!’ I leaped out the window and I heard timber crashing and the flames roaring right behind me” (Hinton 97). Instead of saving himself, Johnny pushed Pony out the window and saved him. Johnny puts others before himself and is willing to risk his life for others. This act is truly heroic.

A hero would be someone that fights for a cause. Heroes are people who rescue others, or people that do something that is really brave. A hero is someone that shows courage and bravery and is admired for their actions. Sometimes, a hero is someone unexpected and would never have been thought to be a hero by anyone because of who they are, or what and where they come from. One example of unexpected heroism, is from three greasers, Dallas Winston, Johnny Cade, and Ponyboy Curtis from The Outsiders. Dally, Johnny, and Ponyboy can be considered heroes because of some actions and choices they made.
