Is King Arthur A Good Leader?

Being a leader is an important position to fulfill because not everyone carries leadership qualities. In order to become a good leader, this person must obtain specific qualities which should come to them naturally. However every good leader still needs to work on their qualities to become an even greater leader which may require a long time of work. Being a good leader can be hard because not everyone is going to agree with the decisions being made. Every good leader should have certain qualities that will help them succeed in every situation. A good leader should qualities such as being passionate and motivated in everything they do, to have patience when working with others, and to be fearless.

Being a great leader can depend on what circumstances are given and how they are handled. It can also fall upon the leader to be devoted, strong, humble, caring, and to be there when people need help, no matter the situation. Even in modern day, a leader has a duty to protect his/her followers, in order to stay in command and gain his/her trust and commitment. The Anglo-Saxon hero demonstrates these qualities by relying on his mental strength to overcome his age to defend and physical strength to hunt and destroy evil threats for the people who can not defend themselves. Future leaders can also use Beowulf as an example and can base their own leadership styles off of his characteristics.

In the 21st century a good leader is someone who is courageous, understanding, selfless, fights for other and not themselves and not a person who has a big ego. Throughout history the meaning or definition of a good leader has changed much. In the Anglo – Saxon time period, Beowulf, was considered to be a great leader and a hero according to his people, for risking his life and saving them from evil monsters. But in today’s world and lifestyle and how much things and times have changed, Beowulf would not be considered to be a good leader or a hero.

A good leader is someone who can recognize their own faults and someone who can make hard decisions whose outcome don’t always benefit them.In the play Antigone was imprisoned for going against the law of King Creon by burying her brother.Antigone would make a good leader because she possesses those qualities as well as many others.

Many things can make or break a leader. Whether it's your mom, dad, teacher, or coach, they all share similar qualities that make us classify them as leaders in the first place. Leaders, such as Odysseus, can be confident and brave, but having a brain poisoned with selfishness and taking advantage of your followers can alter people's opinions on them. Leadership is not controlling, but it is helping people achieve a goal as a whole.

Ideally, a king has an old look, a great amount of power, and naturally rules his domain with an iron fist in literature. In the two works, Le Morte d'Arthur and First Knight see two different versions of how king Arthur is portrayed. Yet the honor and respect that a king should have remains undisturbed, much like how both are products of their time. First Knight is told as a modern retelling of the legend and Le Morte d'Arthur is a minorly altered, much older work. While the depictions of king Arthur are seen as the paramount backbone for arthurian times, these two works have also proven to exhibit differences and similarities, illustrate Arthur’s figure in character, and serve as preservation of the time period.

Before anyone can become a good leader, they have to be able lead themselves in whatever area they want to lead in and I feel like I am a perfect example of that. Not everything comes easy for me, so I have had to learn to have good time management, self-discipline, and perseverance. These traits have helped me in my school work, athletics and in leadership in the community.

The poem, Beowulf, shows many examples of leadership. Beowulf would be the first ideal “leader” to come to mind. Throughout the poem he chooses to be an effective king, defend his people and be a brilliant warrior. We all want good leaders in our lives, but knowing what makes a good leader can be hard to figure out in certain situations. A leader should be able to guide you in the right direction and show characteristics that you would want to grow to be. The men who were leaders in Beowulf showed many characteristics of loyalty, charismatic and bravery.

Everyone is different. Everyone has a different style of leadership. Some people are good leaders. Some are not. What makes a good leader can be hard to explain.

Being a good leader is done by making the correct choices and inspiring people to complete their tasks and work together as a team. In order to be a great leader you need to think outside the box and travel the road that is seldom or never traveled. One of these actions comes back to bite him in the end and this makes a stark turning point for Arthurs life and maturity as an adult. A Courageous Leader Character, it defines nearly every aspect of people’s lives; it creates peoples image, something wealth and fame cannot ultimately improve. Books and short stories provide examples of people with different traits and then places them into scenarios to show the results of these attributes. King Arthur and His Knights functions as one of the stories that provides many different personalities; a major trait portrayed in this story is the king’s courage. While conquering numerus foes, this leadership quality of courage assists Arthur in many challenges throughout the story but also places him into unnecessary danger. This type of story likewise provides polar opposite characters for good and bad.

Many know of the epic hero Arthur, but don’t know what it is that makes him so. Though there isn’t one solid story, like Beowulf, there are multiple stories that agree on the same things, such as Arthur’s allegiance to the Knights of the Round table, his companion Merlin, his relationships with his fellow knights, family, and close friends, and the legendary sword Excalibur. When all aforementioned qualities are explained and put together, it can truthfully define Arthur as an epic hero.

I understand being a good or even great leader takes a great amount of hard work and dedication. No matter where I am or what I am doing, I push myself to the limit and do what needs to be done; sometimes even more. I strive to be the best in all I do. I want to become a good leader like my father. I want to be able to handle even the most difficult situations in the most calm and confident manner.
