The American dream envelops the idea that America is a golden ticket where freedom shines, equal opportunity exists to gain success, and diligence is required to ensure that success.

The term “American Dream” is defined as an idea which believes that all people have the possibility of prosperity and success. The idea first came from James Adams, a noted American writer and historian. He claimed, “Life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability and achievement.” Therefore, the core concepts of the American Dream were closely linked to hard work and opportunity.

I believe that the american dream is dead because majority of the middle class will not have enough money for a good retirement, due to declining wages,and from rising expenses will have families struggle.

Is it still possible for those that come from foreign countries or those living a moderate american life to rise out of being employed and become self-employed? You may ask yourself is it truly worth the time, money, and effort to go to college, get an education, and invest in a new business? Some people still believe that being self-employed and wealthy is still attainable, as long as you put in enough thought, effort, and time. Throughout the readings, there many ideas that were trying to come around, but the one thing that stood out is love for America. America was built on greed because while America was being founded and becoming a nation everyone worried about was having harvesting soil, rivers full of minerals and fish, mining for gold, silver and copper.
