Secondly, there is Isabelle. This character is a combination of the archetypical beauty – which gives the viewer a sense of familiarity, and a nerd- her point of difference to challenge the perspective of the audience. She is consistently fighting an internal battle between these contrasting dimension, which adds interest and creates an even more relatable aspect of the show. Like the other characters, she is a 22-year-old university student, however; she is studying a double degree of bachelor of fashion and design and a bachelor of neuroscience. Like her personality, these degrees contrast each other. Throughout the series, the audience will find out the reason why, she hides her intelligent but dorky side, and covers it up with a charade
Arnetta seems like the leader of the pack; however, she is the weakest because she has to be mean and call troop 909 names just to make herself feel better. For example on (page 281 paragraph 4)they referred to the troop 909 girls “wet chihuahuas.” She does it to make herself seem cooler but really that makes her look bad. On (page 283 paragraph 2) she states,”she’d heard one of the girls from troop 909 call Daphne a n-i-g-g-e-r.” When Arnetta tries to point out witch girl called Daphne a “n-i-g-g-e-r” cited on page 297 paragraphs 2 and 3) she pointed to a girl who could talk but never did, then she changed it to someone else(cited in page 297 paragraph 4) the girl steps forward to show her uniform and says,”See, I’m a Brownie.” the narrator
Several characters are judged based on their race, appearance and personality. Stereotypes are represented through jasper, Charlie and Jeffery.
Isolation- all the characters carry an element of loneliness. Catherine is isolated through the memory of Martin (previous boyfriend). Ken is isolated, in his own ‘World of Warcraft’. Ana’s angry temper leads her to live in isolation, stating ‘Ana no trust anyvon’
What are the characters’ emotions, attitudes, and behaviors? What do these indicate to the reader about the character?
In “Mean Girls” by Tina Fey, there are a few characters that stand out because of how interesting they are. One that stands out the most to me is Karen Smith. In the course of the movie, she deals with her friends bringing a new girl into the group and that girl ends up turning into the “Queen” throughout the movie. Karen has to go through with her friends getting into verbal and physical wars. The writer also reveals that Karen is not the smart one of the group. For example, she tries to catch a football with her chest and it just ends up bouncing off. She appears to be dull-minded and clueless. Karen Smith shows that throughout the story she is a static character because she never changes throughout the movie.
Elle Woods has a personality that nothing can comparer to. She has a since of style and humor that sets her apart from all the other plain characters in the movie. She does not care if people usually wear black as lawyers, she is going to rock her pink suit with match accessories. In the movie, while talking to an inmate who was wearing orange, she even states, “Whoever said orange was the new pink, was seriously disturbed” Elle Woods does not care is people judge her, all she cares about is being original, and that’s another quality I like
Mean Girls reinforces the aspect of tragedy by creating a lesson that being yourself is better than becoming someone you’re not.
Openness the experience implies strongly a person who is acquiring intellect. Individuals are high scorer in this trait when they are curious, broad interests, creative, imaginative, and untraditional. And they are low scorer when they are conventional, down-to-earth, narrow, interests, unartistic, unanalytical. Subira seems to be mostly interested in things that are relevant in her life and how it applies to her striving to be a successful actress one day. Some examples are the way she dresses differently at times. She loves going to Greenwich Village to observe people there. The observations that she makes give her more ideas from which to choose in order to better develop both her craft and her characters. I give Subira a high rating in attempting to fully develop her characters that she will be called upon one day in a performance.
"Cold, shiny, hard, PLASTIC," said by Janice referring to a group of girls in the movie Mean Girls. Mean Girls is about an innocent, home-schooled girl, Cady who moves from Africa to the United States. Cady thinks she knows all about survival of the fittest. But the law of the jungle takes on a whole new meaning when she enters public high school and encounters psychological warfare and unwritten social rules that teen girls deal with today. Cady goes from a great friend of two "outcasts", Janice and Damien to a superficial friend of the "plastics", a group of girls that talks about everyone behind their back and thinks everyone loves them. Adolescent egocentrism and relationships with peers are obviously present throughout the film. I
Others perspectives - In the beginning, others thought she was beautiful and while she descends her beauty faded away as she fell. In contrast to Doreen, the view from the businessmen caused Earl to see a bleak of light in a tunnel which was the turning point in choosing to lose weight. The perspectives of other impacted these characters to dynamically change physically and mentally.
Based on Rosalind Wiseman's non-fiction book, Queen Bees and Wannabes, the 2004 movie, Mean Girls, was directed by Mark Waters and the screenplay was written by Tina Fey. Through the use of cinematography and music, the viewers were able to experience the real high school society. Mean Girls is about a sixteen-year-old homeschooled girl and her first-time experience at a public high school. Through his movie, Walters portrays the damaging effects of female social cliques on every student in high school.
She uses devices such as symbolism to find a solution for the problems she is facing by giving characters the same or similar problems. S.E Hinton’s parents abused her. She created the character, Johnny, who experienced the same problems. She also used Johnny
Characters, such as the Dormouse and the White Rabbit, allow the Hatter to express his oddness. For example, it would’ve been difficult for him to throw an “unbirthday” party without any guests! The Red Queen also has an interesting relationship with the Hatter, since she sentenced him to an execution for “killing time” (fortunately, he was able to avoid it). I would love to spend time with such nonsensical personalities because every day would be a different day. The characters are extremely spontaneous and have unique interactions with each
She’s a manipulative liar that does anything to get her way which also leads a downfall with the other characters. She convinces the other girls to make false accusation and causes other innocent women to continue to the hysteria.
aliveness that keeps the reader reading. This is exactly what Kate does in expressing herself.
