The principal beliefs of Islam are recognised as the Aqida (creed), containing six articles of faith known as the Tawhid, which explains the oneness and unity of Allah. The second article of faith Mala’ika referring to the Angels that carried out Allah’s revelations. The third article of faith Rusul is the belief in the messengers or prophets of God. The fourth article of faith is the Books of Allah also known as Kutubu’llah which are the revelations that God made to his messengers that reveals the truth. The fifth article faith Akhira is the belief in the afterlife which the prophet Muhammad was warned about and the last day. Lastly the Al-Qadr also known as fate/predestination explains that God is in control of everything and Muslims actions are linked to the idea of obedience. These are the fundamental beliefs of Islam which every muslim should abide by.
The first article of faith is the Tawhid, which refers to the belief in the oneness and unity of Allah. Islam's emphasis on monotheism is practised in the Shahada, by being said daily by every devout muslim, ‘there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad and his prophet’. Religion facts et.al (2017) explains that the recitation of this confession of faith is the sole requirement for those who wish to be apart of the Muslim community. Muslims are required to ‘believe in God’ and his attributes: “Allah. There is no god but he-the living, the self subsisting, eternal.” (surah Al-imran, 2). The Tawhid provides Muslims the
it is a faith based on the prophet muhammad. Muslims go to a mosque which is where they go to worship their God, called Allah. The Islamic holy book is called the Qur'an, and it was believed to be the literal word of Allah. Muslims also practice The Five Pillars of Islamic Faith which are the five religious duties expected of every Muslim. One of these five pillars include: Shahada, which is the Muslim profession of faith, expressing the two simple, fundamental beliefs:La ilaha illa Allah wa-Muhammad rasul Allah; which means there is only one God and Muhammad is a prophet.
These passages from the Qur’an described Allah as an indivisible merciful God who guides Muslims. Allah was described as the compassionate “Lord of the Worlds,” who is the king of the day of judgement. These few statements revealed that the monolithic religion of Islam believes there is only one true God that rules over everything, not multiple. Another practice that is revealed, was their belief that God will guide Muslims in their daily lives, so that, they would reach Allah in heaven. Other Islamic practices that were revealed through the Qur’an: believing in the unseen, steadfast in prayer, and giving alms to the poor.
There are five major religions of the world, of those five major religions, one claims to be the youngest; this religion is called Islam. Although Islam may be the youngest religion, that does not stop it from being the second largest religion. “A follower of the religion of Islam is called a "Muslim" which means "one who is in submission to the divine will."(Religion of Islam).A Muslim believes in only one god meaning they are monotheistic, their one god is called Allah. The Islamic community believes very strongly in their holy book, the Quran; that sometimes laws are written off of their religious beliefs. A Muslim believes that Allah sends different prophets
The Muslim people believe there is only one God (Qur’an 3:18), their celebrations of faith are:
Islam is an Abrahamic, monotheistic religion based around the text of the Quran. Followers of Islam believe that Muhammad is the last prophet of god. Islam has five pillars; (a) testimony of faith, (b) prayer, (c) Supporting the needy (d) fasting the month
Although it is quite difficult to name exactly all of the values and beliefs held by Muslims, there are six core Articles of Faith which are considered as the foundations of Islamic belief. The first is a belief in only one God, and one of gravest sins that Muslims consider is that of worshipping other Gods, or other beings alongside God. The second is a belief in angels, which are beings who work in the service of God to administer His kingdom. The Muslims also believe in prophets who were sent to every nation to bear witness that there is only one God. These prophets include Noah, Abraham, Jesus, and of course, Muhammad. The fourth belief is that God’s words were revealed through books, such as the Gospels, Psalms, and Torah. However, Muslims also believe that the Koran contains the final revelation and is a fully preserved version of God’s revelations. The other versions, Muslims believe, were either lost or distorted. The fifth belief is the occurrence of the Day of Judgment, in which people who perform good deeds will be rewarded in Heaven. The last belief is that there is a destiny and a Divine Decree, in which God has full and perfect knowledge of all things, and everything happens through his will (Ibrahim, 1997).
Islam is monotheistic religion, whose god is Allah. The Muslims also believe in the Five Pillars of Islam. The Five Pillars is made up of five core beliefs of Islam. The first belief is a testimony of faith. All you must say is, “There is no true god but Allah, and Muhammad is the Prophet of Allah.” This belief is key to the Islam religion because if you do not accept Allah as the only god and Muhammad as his prophet, you will be punished to hell, instead of enjoying peace in heaven
Islam is one of the three major monotheistic religions and is the second largest in terms of followers. Muslims share some of the same beliefs as other main monotheistic religions including heaven, hell, angels, and devils. In Islam, God or Allah is believed to be all powerful, seeing, hearing, and knowing. Muslims, followers of Islam believe there is a day of judgement as well as predestination by god. Muslims also believe in the prophets of god and believe in Muhammad as the prophet that brought Islam to this world. Muslims believe in their book, the Quran was sent down from God. The prophet Muhammad was born in 570 A.D. and introduced Islam in 610 A.D making it one of the youngest religions, after experiencing an angelic visitation from
In order for something to be strong and successful it must have a solid foundation, otherwise, it will crumble and fall. For example, a tall building cannot withstand the brutal force of nature if it does not have a strong foundation. A person cannot remain physically healthy if they don’t have the foundation or habits of eating right and exercising every single day. This idea also applies to religion, specifically the Islamic religion. Like all religions, Islam is built up of various beliefs, practices, and principles that vary from different branches. However, all branches of Islam are based off five simple beliefs or pillars that serve as the solid foundation for this religion.
The basic message of Islam was that there was one God who ruled over the other Gods and whose name was Allah. Muslim Prophet Muhammad was the last and greatest prophet of Allah. He believed that Allah had exposed himself in Moses and Jesus and thru the Hebrew and Christian traditions (203). The last revelations were given to him. These revelations were written down in a holy book that became the Qur 'an. The teachings of Muhammad formed the foundation for the religion of Islam. Islam means, "submission to the will of Allah". Allah was the almighty who created the world and everything in it (203). His worshipper 's were called Muslims. Islam was a way to set religious beliefs as well as a way of life. The Islamic society had a certain way in which they behave. They had their morals recorded in the Qur 'an and this served as their code of ethics and law (203). They has to followed a basic righteous code that was compose of the Five Pillars of Islam. These first pillar, was that there is no other God but Allah and Muhammad is the prophet. The second pillar is that regular prayers to worship Allah are required 5 times a day and a public prayer on Friday at midday. The third pillar was that money must be given to the poor and needy. The fourth pillar was the observance of the Holy month of Ramadan with fasting from dawn to sunset. The fifth pillar was to make a pilgrimage to Mecca
Islam, now one of the major religions of the world, was found by a prophet, named Muhammad. The idea of Islam is the believer, called a Muslim, accepts surrender to the will of Allah, who is their God. Allah is viewed as the creator of the world. Islam is much like Christianity, as they are both monotheistic, potentially believing in the same God. Islam’s practices are written in the holy book, called the Qur’an, or Koran in English. Allah revealed the Koran to his messenger, Muhammad, who is considered the last of a series of prophets (Rahmin). Within the Islam religion, Muslims practice the Five Pillars of Islam, which is one of the most important practices. The Five Pillars of Islam are the five obligations that every muslim must satisfy in order to live a good and responsible life according to Islam (Five Pillars of Islam). Carrying out the Five Pillars demonstrates the Muslim is putting their faith first. The first pillar is called “Shahadah,” which focuses on reciting the Muslim profession of faith (Five Pillars of Islam).
Islam - A Highly Controversial Sensitive Issue in Today's World: Examination of Misconceptions and Beliefs
The third article of faith in Islam, is the belief in all the prophets and messengers sent by God, ending with Muhammad. All messengers were chosen by God to teach mankind. They were all human, and have no share in divinity, but they are the perfect paradigms for humanity. The messages were all the same, as it came from one God. Their fundamental message was identical, reminding mankind of Allah’s oneness, the reward of a good life, and the Day of Judgment and the terrible punishment for disbelievers (“Islamic Path”). In the Quran, the holy book of Islam, it states the names of the twenty-five prophets, and every Muslim accepts them all. Except for Muhammad, all prophets are considered to be national or local messengers. Muhammad, on the other hand, is considered a prophet for all the nations. He is also described as the “Seal of all Prophets,” as stated in the Quran. He stands as the last messenger. In the Quran, the phenomena of earlier prophets are recognized. Those prophets included, Abraham, Noah, Jesus, Moses, and many others.
As Muhammad was the prophet of Islam, His words and those of Allah are represented in the Quran. The Quran is a compilation of rules, poetry, beliefs, and meanings of Islam. There are some fifteen basic concepts of the Islam and are explained within the Quran. There is not an exact list of these concepts, but are the basic meanings expressed in the book. Righteousness is explained as taking verses to heart rather than empty readings and routine. It also means expressing the beliefs of the Quran in daily life and towards others. The concept of piety is the more intense following of Muhammad. Muslims are taught to mold themselves in the form of Muhammad. The concept of prophet-hood or appearing to mortal men with the word of Allah is a very important aspect of belief in Islam. It proves a connection between heaven and earth through common men. The creation of life by Allah is a strong
The fundamental principle of Islam is Tauhid - the unity of the human race under the sovereignty of the One and Only, Universal Divine Allah. Islam's message of peace affirms the equality of all human beings, and rejects all discrimination on the basis of race, class
