Creating a good communication relationship between the students, parents, and school. The teachers must create ways to communicate with their students’ parents. Keeping communication lines open to all parties involved will allow students to get a better education. The activity I completed for this standard was writing a letter for the parents of special needs students. This letter was to ensure the parents that their students were being taken care of at the school. I went over the letter with the kids and shared with them it had ways for their parents to encourage

Even with this law, there is still a vast difference in the quality of the many different state standards. The educational standards were meant to set goals for teaching and learning. Standards include a set of competencies and the level of educational achievement that demonstrates when the child should gain appropriate knowledge. They include an extensive list of skills and sub-skills that coincides with the appropriate grade level.

In my current job status the information covered this week is helpful to me directly. In saying that I need to point out that it is helpful to me only. I too subscribe to the KISS principles and particularly do so when dealing with my clients. I am not saying that they lack intelligence it is just that their attentions are required elsewhere and I do not need to bore them with the details. The information really is helpful to me in that it allows me to better serve my customers by saving them time with frustrating details. All the customer wants, particularly the military customer is that their systems work and allow them to operate efficiently.

The standards are written by experienced educators. They teach not just what, but also how and why.

Schools are constantly changing and standards must change and adapt too. I had the opportunity to review the 6 ISLLC Standards and the PSEL 2015 standards. The biggest difference between the two standards was whom the standards impacted. I noticed the ISLLC Standards provided more guidance on what leaders need to know and how to improve instruction. However, the PSEL Standards concentrated on creating challenging, caring and supportive conditions to boost student learning. Educators now 
have a better understanding of how effective leadership contributes to
 student success.

The biggest way one can see if a school leader is following these two standards is through the interactions they have, as well as the ones they see. For example, a school leader who is out in the hallways, talking to parents and students, and interacting with stakeholders, can show these standards. I have had school leaders who are great at the standards, and some that I am not so sure about, but they were great at other aspects of their job.

Policy standards are essential in regulating and ensuring that students thrive in the K-12 virtual classroom, in college, and in his/her career choice; therefore, our educational system must continuously develop and embrace the very best practices, policies, and ideas and the State regulating agency must implement policies that are comprehensive and inclusive to all

The implementation of using standards has included challenges. There is a learning curve associated with the initiation of any new process for teachers, administrators, parents, and students. The first thing that I learned from this class was by The Dominican Charism “The Dominican passion for truth presumes a confidence in the intellect’s capacity for discerning truth and for reaching a level of clarity that enables both teacher and student to distinguish truth from error, and distortions and half-truths from the truth” (Charism) It made me more motivated and confident in what am doing today. Having a connection between the student and the teacher is nice, especially when the teacher understands how each student thinks. However, for my short-term goal, is to get a bachelor’s in business administration. In order to create an actual public school system, there have to be common goals that schools share and that serve as a backbone to the system. As such, educational standards are the objectives, milestones, or concepts that students are expected to learn at specific points during their time in school (Class notes, October). These standards are important because they guarantee that students can attend any public school, regardless of the location, and ideally receive the same education. Now, states and federal government are concerned with assessing if students are indeed reaching the established educational standards, resulting in growing testing requirements (Pugach, 2009).

When I went to Advisement and Registration, I wanted to un-declare my major. I spoke with my advisor, Sue Lombardo, and she mentioned a two-credit course that would ease the transition into a major that would suit me. Seven weeks after school has begun, I have already formed an idea pertaining to what I want to do with my life. This class has revealed my interests, personality, skills, strengths, and values. All of these things are important to know and I hardly knew anything about them before. I have already applied these aspects in my search for a major, as I want to be sure that the major I choose will satisfy my needs and wants. There I was in the eleventh grade in my final month of school before Summer break. I was sitting in the front row near the door of my Math Inquiry classroom, just behind the foreign exchange student from Japan, Kokoro. The room was empty with just two students. With five total in the class, three of which were absent, it was just Kokoro and I. As we were looking over the math I found it to be the most heinous subject. I could not comprehend the material my teacher lectured on the unit circle. The curriculum for that was difficult. As a result my teacher Mrs. Dickey an intervention specialist and math major managed to answer my questions when I could not comprehend the material.
