Israel received their independence in 1948, 69 years later they have surpassed more milestones than most countries do in 200 years. (Katz, 2017) Their history shows nothing but war and conflict all the way from the Biblical time frame to present day. Israel has gone from poverty to wealth in a brief duration of time. (Darlington, 2017) The Judicial Appointments Panel selects Supreme Court Justices and Judges that consists of nine members: three Justices of the Supreme Court, two Ministers, two Members of the Knesset, and two representatives of the Israel Bar Association. The US and Isreal are very close friends and allies, Isreal and the US support each other every way they can. Isrealis have looked to the US for political inspiration, financail and military assistance and diplomatic support. During more than six decades of state building, Isreal has looked up to the United States. Americans have viewed Isreal with a special appreciation for its successful effort to follow the western democratic tradition, its remarkable economic development, and its determind struggle against it uncompromising enemies.
Since its establishment in 1948, Israel has been threatened with extinction from the hostile Arab countries that border it. This has forced them to be cautious, prepared, and on alert. Immediately after it gained statehood in 1948, they were attacked by five arab countries. Against all odds, they managed to defeated their adversaries. Their independence was still not recognized. One war changed this. The Yom Kippur war changed the way people looked at Israel, changed Israel’s military borders, and showed that Israel has a large military power.

It has over 11,000 miles of paved roads on which over 2 million vehicles operate. Its communications systems are the highest developed in the Middle East despite numerous attacks against its infrastructure by terrorist organizations. It has numerous airports that service international travel, hundreds of miles of gas and oil pipelines, and a small merchant fleet that handles shipping concerns. It has numerous universities that consistently rank amongst the top 100 universities in the world; this has led to Israel leading the world in both stem cell research and space sciences of which are very high importance to the governing body of the Israeli people.
DB 9: Feminism Feminism, or the idea of equality, is currently one of the most controversial topics in our society. Although many groups, especially women, have been attempting to gain equal treatment, recognition, and rights for centuries, complete egalitarianism is still a status yet to be met. However, the past efforts made by individuals who devoted their lives to working towards a just world are not diminished by the fact that we are still on the journey towards equality.
