Introduction Nicholas G. Carr initiated a discussion about the strategic importance of IT spending of companies in his Article "IT Doesn 't Matter" published in Harvard business review, 2003. He advises to reduce the spending on IT infrastructure by arguing the fact that IT become commodity rather than a strategic advantage. Diminishing strategic advantage of the IT as explained by Nicholas Carr is not a broad view of the topic and Author has limited the scope of IT with mostly hardware part and not discussed the various advantages a firm can gain with use of information technology in a whole. Summary Author suggests that 1. business corporations should spend less on the IT infrastructure 2. delay investment on the IT capital, to wait and learn from the mistake of competitors 3. evaluate the risks associated with the implementation of IT infrastructure. Author argues that IT is no more a strategic advantage and is similar to other commodity which is assessable to each and every one at market place. Author has provided the details of it spending and financial outcome of the industry. Here we need to understand that financial out come from an IT investment cannot be expected immediately or in the same financial year. First of all, capital goods are very different from the information good. Business benefitted from the Information technology not only based on the how much they spent on the IT rater than how their IT operations are aligned with their
In the excerpt of the book "All the Light We Cannot See" by Anthony Doerr, the author uses the literary element of imagery in order to strengthen the main idea that blind people view the world in a different and unique way. This view is one that people with sight cannot understand nor picture. Doerr implements this element when describing how a blind person views the world. When describing how they view color and objects it sets an image in the readers mind to give them the ability to relate and to better understand the blind character. By understanding a sliver of how a blind person views the world the readers form a vision of their own. The Author uses imagery when describing how the character identifies certain objects and distinguishes one object from another.
The poem “Between the World and Me” by Richard Wright reanimates the horrible scene of a racial lynching and forces the reader to endure the victim's pain through the first person’s narrative voice. The poem contains structured lines and visual division into three stanzas. Moreover, there is one more type of division in the poem. The author uses an ellipsis four times throughout the poem. This punctuation mark frames the poem into the timeline, where the historical past of the African American poet becomes the present experience of any human, despite the race. The climax of the poem is presented in the middle of stanza two. The animated moment, which starts from the sentence “the ground gripped my feet”, dramatically shifts the
Next Level Transition Center will be in tune with the changes of worldwide industries when it comes to information technology. Developments in digitization of information and advances in computing and telecommunications have created higher levels of mobilization and unbundling of intelligence, which in turn have altered how valued is created in the economy (Sawhney and Parikh 2001). As Sawhney and Parikh (2001, p.80) summarized, economic value is now linked to improving the utility of information: “where intelligence resides, so too does value.” To measure business and
The themes of power and control in Stokey Carmichael's "What We Want" and Huey Newton's "The Founding of the Black Panther Party" and "Patrolling" are expressed in different methods to make a point. However, they both share similar goal to end racism by educating their communities of their legal rights and ways to create unity in their communities.
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn once wrote that “the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being.” And that couldn’t be more prevalent in the book, All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. Every single character struggles with the internal conflicts of right versus wrong, forcing them to do things that will change their life indefinitely. Whether it’s through Werner’s choice to murder a one of his one Nazi officers to save Marie-Laure, Or through Etienne’s actions to stop being a bystander of the war and instead risk his life to help defeat the Germans.
This past year I have read many books, and while it is hard to pick a favorite, I would have to say “All the Light We Cannot See,” by Anthony Doerr is the one I enjoyed the most. When reading the synopsis of this novel, I never imagined that I would feel so connected to a book where one of the main characters is blind and the other is a brilliant, young German orphan who was chosen to attend a brutal military academy under Hitler's power because of his intuitive engineering skills. There are so many different aspects of the book that are lived out in separate moments and in different countries, but collectively find a way to unite in the end. The thing that impressed me the most about the book was that I could have never predicted the outcome.
I was defiantly surprised by the end of the story. I didn’t realize what was actually happening in the story until the middle of the last paragraph when Tessie Hutchenson said " It isn't fair" and then a stone hit her on the side of her head. Until the last couple paragraph I thought the story was about a normal town and that someone was going to win the lottery.

Information Technology (IT) budgeting has become a constant struggle for companies, both big and small. The speed at which technology becomes obsolete, management’s expectations for quick deployment of new technology, and a supplier’s change of their operating model to focus on “as-a-service” (Feldman, 2015) recurring revenue, greatly affect how IT departments approach their budget these days. Other factors such as; lack of company vision or one’s inability to see how their IT department fits into the corporation’s goals and expectations are all huge pitfalls for the IT manager. The inability for IT and finance divisions to
