Memorandum to: Cynthia Crownshield from: subject: Production Analysis date: cc: Alistair wu, Dieter Handel, Distribution Pattern Alistair Wu has requested that I look at what the lowest shipping schedule and cost can be based on data that he has provided. He wants to know what the lowest possible cost of shipping will can be. Mr. Wu is also considering increasing production at the Shanghai factory from 1,300 to 2,800 units, and wants to ensure that this growth will be an affordable choice. The first chart that was given lists the factory capacity and what each warehouse demand is. The second chart lists the price of shipping from each factory to each warehouse. The chart looks at the demand in the warehouses as well as the cost to …show more content…
They use 300,000 shoelaces per year with an estimated cost of $125 for every order to the suppliers. The estimated holding cost of each pair of laces is $.10.In order to help her with this; I used the economic order quantity model (EOQ). The annual expenses for ordering and storing the inventory will be $1,369.31. The optimal inventory that they should keep on hand should be 27,386 and the average inventory around 13,693. Ms. Down should order the optimal level of shoelaces 11 times a year to avoid shortages. C2. Computer Analysis C2a. Decision Analysis Tool Justification The economic order quantity is used for this situation because it shows the number of pairs of laces that can be added to the inventory each time an order is placed to minimize the holding and ordering costs. It provides the information that can be used to control the inventory levels and costs. D. Waiting Line System Shuzworld aims to keep customer satisfaction at its highest. A customer approach that focuses on making the customer happy is of upmost importance. One way to achieve this is to ensure that customer wait time is kept to a minimum. Specific questions have been posed for concern; how many customers will be in the system; how many customers on average will be in line; and what the probability is of one being in line or being served? The company is looking at staffing each
Compute the projected profit for the order quantities suggested by the management team under three scenarios: worst case in which sales = 10,000 units, most likely case in which sales = 20,000 units, and best case in which sales = 30,000 units.

B. 1. The impact of costs on the decision to move forward with the new Maui Sandal line is as follows: As the production continues, the hours needed for each batch, or individual pair, will begin to decrease. By continuing to produce this line the total labor costs will continue to decrease, but most likely, at a slower rate as more sandals are produced. This data can help the company decide employment levels, capacity, costs, and their pricing of this particular merchandise in the open market. The company predicts that it will take 1,000 labor hours for production to complete for the first batch, with 50 total batches between month 1 and month 4.
Many students who struggle with reading ask why should we read, what is the point? The point is that being able to read opens you up a whole new world of knowledge and imagination. But to have that new world opened up you need to be able to comprehend what you are reading. The primary goal of reading is to determine the meaning of
Per Reporter: Onslow County received a report on 1/22/18 with concerns of the living condition of the home; dirty home feces on the floor and body odor. During the investigation, there were concerns with the mental health status of both parents. Shomari has been inpatient twice for making suicidal statements. Gabriella is diagnosed with bipolar, ADHD & Depression, which she is not being treated for. Previously Gabriella and Shomari had a verbal altercation about ordered food; Shomari’s food arrived before Gabriella’s did. Gabriella became upset, went upstairs and wrote her suicidal thoughts down. Gabriella went downstairs and handed Shomari the paper. Gabriella and Shomari stated that Sabastian was sleeping during the altercation. There have
The numbers of firms that produce identical products or goods which are homogenous are called market structure. Industrial regulation is the government regulation on an entire industry with the objective of keeping a close eye on the industry prices and take advantage of consumers. Rules set by government and agencies that help control the operations of businesses who may demonstrate monopoly power in their organization. Monopoly may lead to consumers being exploited (higher prices) and consumers paying way too much for a product.

I would advise the CEO that to better serve the company’s desire we would start with a strategic plan by setting goals and objectives. It would be best to elicit the opinions of every staff member on how they feel about the company’s goal. After listening to the staff opinions on how best to implement the goals, a plan is to be put in place detailing the steps by steps on how to achieve each tasks. I would emphasize to the CEO the importance of setting goals and communicating them effectively to the staff members, especially those who will be the managers. Additionally, the CEO is to consider the needs of each individual in the company. It is important to address both the task and the needs of the employees ( Phillips & Gully, 2014).
The key to doing well on this task is detail. Several sections require that you analyze information. This requires that you read carefully, think deeply and show your insight that you gained from the information provided in the case study.
A. The simulated function given in the Excel spreadsheet “Hamptonshire Express: Problem_#1” allows the user to find the optimal quantity of newspapers to be stocked at the newly formed Hamptonshire Express Daily Newspaper. Anna Sheen estimated the daily demand of newspapers to be on a normal standard distribution; stating that daily demand will have a mean of 500 newspapers per day with a standard deviation of 100 newspapers per day. Using the function provided, the optimal stocking quantity, which maximizes expected profit, is determined to be approximately 584 newspapers. If 584 newspapers were to be ordered, Hamptonshire Express will net an
To compute the optimal order quantity of each wine we firstly needed to compute the unit cost per bottle and the salvage value of each. From the description of the case we could easily identify that the unit cost of each bottle was 50% (gross margin) of the price plus the 1,25€ per bottle of the transportation costs. With this we computed the unitary cost of each type of wine.
Problem #2.” (To make your life easier, optimal stocking quantity, Q, is computed by the
Using the sample data given in Table 2-20, make a recommendation for how many units of each style Wally should make during the initial phase of production. Assume that all of the 10 styles in the sample problem are made in Hong Kong and that Wally’s initial production commitment must be at least 10,000 units. Ignore price differences among styles in your initial analysis.
The economic order/manufacture quantity (EOQ/EMQ) model developed by Harris (1913) is the earliest reported scientific treatment of inventory systems, where the sum of inventory costs, ordering/setup and holding costs, is minimized. Its simple mathematics and ease of calculation is perhaps what contributed to its popularity with practitioners and academicians (e.g., Fulbright, 1979; Osteryoung et al., 1986). The EOQ/EMQ model continues to be celebrated by many researchers (Andriolo et al., 2014; Drake and Marley, 2014; Glock et al., 2014; Bushuev et al. 2015). The model’s popularity overshadows few critical voices (e.g., Selen and Woods, 1987; Woolsey, 1990; Weiss, 1990).
