Coast Jaguarundi is an extremely rare subspecies of the Jaguarundi family. This cat is mainly found in certain parts of Northern America, in the Western Gulf coastal grasslands of southern United States and Northwestern Mexico. This subspecies of Jaguarundi have a reddish or a charcoal gray fur, short ears, and short legs. As a predatory cat, the Jaguarundi is a great swimmer and can also climb very well. The jaguar Panthera onca is the largest cat in the Americas and the third-largest in the world (after the lion and tiger). A jaguars fur is usualy orange or tan with black spots. Because they are shaped like roses these spots are often called "rosettes. Jaguars can run quickly but they often hide and weight for their pray rather than chase them. Did you know that jaguars like the water and are good swimmers. Most jaguars live in swamps, grasslands, forests, and deserts. They are carnivores and eat only meet. They don't like to share their food. They dragged their prey beneath trees to eat it alone. February 3rd, a conservation group by the name of “Conservation CATalyst” released a video of the only known wild jaguar in the United States, and stated that they had been tracking him for nearly three years (Bugbee, Neils, and Serraglio 2016). The video shows the muscular, bright cat, named “El Jefe” roaming around in the Santa Rita mountains, just thirty or so miles away from Tuscon, Arizona. When the video was released, it blew up, appearing on big news sources like CNN, Fox News, and ABC News. When I saw this, it caught my attention immediately. A healthy Siberian tiger is about ten to eleven feet long, from it’s nose to the end of it’s tail. No two tigers look the same, well that is due to their intriguing stripes that were mentioned earlier. Siberian tigers have fewer, paler stripes, compared to any other ordinary tiger. The research gathered will display how the Siberian tigers physical features, cultural habitat, and social conduct make it the most riveting animal in the world.

There are many species in the world that are endangered and close to being extinct. A threatened species which means that in the near future the species will be on the brink of extinction. The Jaguar is a near threatened species and the population is decreasing due to slash and burn of their habitats. Poaching is also causing decline in the population. Currently they can only be found on the rarest occasion in woods along the mexican border. The jaguar is a highly known animal with notable affiliation in the Pre-Columbian Mesoamerican societies and belief systems. All major Mesoamerican cultures proudly presented a jaguar god. Jaguars are known for their power and aggressive strength. They are great hunters and one of the big cats that can tolerate water.

I plan to major in wildlife sciences because it propels me towards my career in wildlife veterinary science. During my first four years, I plan to study abroad in Tanzania and further my knowledge in wildlife animals and their environment. After I obtain my bachelors degree, I'm going to intern with an actual wildlife veterinarian. Then, I am going to attend Auburn's College of Veterinarian Medicine and receive a master's degree.
