In the book Note Worthy by Riley Redgate the main character Jordan Sun faces a very large conflict. She faces trying to fit in. Like all high schooler she wants to fit in and do what makes her happy. She even went as far as dressing up like a boy in order to get into an acapella group. During the auditions she was super nervous the pictures of different situations like “I planted my feet, tilted my head, and ignored the way the underside of the wig made my pinned- up hair itch. A picture came to me: the wig flopping off like a dead pigeon, mid- song, onto the stage. Hysterical laughter built up in my throat.” She kept going with the audition and trying to fulfill her dreams. Jordan Sun was no longer Jordan Sun she used the name Julian Zhang.

The Junie B. Jones series has become extremely popular over the years. There are many people that love the stories because of how witty Junie B. is. It is also true that a large number of children can connect with her since Barbra Park created the series with Junie B. speaking in first person as the narrator. However, there are a lot of concerns with the amount of disrespect seen by Junie. Additionally, there could be an educational confusion for children who are trying to learn to read and pronounce words correctly. The Junie B. Jones series basically glorifies being bad, not listening to adults and using language that a five or six year old should not be using. The ruthless actions and improper usage of communication by Junie B. in the Junie B. Jones series can be very confusing and misleading for the young children that are expected to read these books.

Rivalry can be playful and good natured, but it isn’t always this way. Rivalry and competition can help individuals grow as a person, and help them to develop into mature adults. Competition can be a motivator to do better. It can also lead to vast destruction, and severed friendships. Rivalry in this case is unhealthy, the overall outcome of the story proves this. Finny and Gene didn’t really have a ‘healthy’ rivalry or competition. Their relationship wasn’t healthy, and it eventually leads to the death of Finny. In “A Separate Piece” by John Knowles the rivalry between two friends turns unhealthy very quickly. The competition and rivalry between the two friends is destructive, it destroys their friendship,
Imagine riding on a horse for the first time and falling off. Well it sounds like Jordan has some bad luck. Jordan is a junior in high school and is also in my fifth period class. Paying college athletes is a very controversial subject. There are pro’s and con’s to both sides of the subject. In my unprofessional opinion I believe that college athletes should be paid. Coming from a student athlete I know how much hard work and dedication is required to be successful on the field/court wherever the sport is taken place, let alone in the classroom. In 2011-2012 the NCAA reported $876.1 million dollars in revenue. Basketball generated roughly $293 million, baseball generated roughly $419 thousand and football the rest. The University of Texas generated more than $93 million in 2011-2012.(“How Much Money Do College Sports Generate?” ) I believe the NCAA makes more than enough money to have a flat rate pay for each player
This is a group of students who meet together weekly to discuss, pray over, and advocate for injustices around the world. As of first semester of sophomore year I have been one of the leaders of this group; through this, God has opened my eyes and broken my heart for victims of abuse, violence, and injustice in the world. I believe that God desires for our hearts to be broken for what breaks his heart, not just so we hurt, but so we wake up and help those who hurt. This is where my passion for nonprofit ministry lies, I hope to help those who are hurting; exactly what profession or ministry that will take me to, I am not sure, but I have full confidence that God will lead me to the right ministry when he sees fits.
Many people have asked the question what did Jesus look like, was he tall, short, shaved or bearded. Did he look different from everyone else? No one truly knows what the savior looks like because there is nothing in the bible that gives a description of Jesus. But throughout the centuries people have created images of what the Son of God through the eyes of the people of their time in order to keep the faith and to educate and reflect how things were.

In “Charles”, written by Shirley Jackson, a kindergarten student named Laurie had a tough time transitioning into his first year of school and tried to hide it from his parents. Laurie’s behavior changed negatively when he started school because he was strong-willed and had trouble taking directions from the teacher. Laurie is an older brother to his baby sister. “Charles” took place in the 1950’s at Laurie’s home as well as at school. Laurie struggled with adjusting to Kindergarten and held Charles, an imaginary child, responsible for his actions. This behavior change started when he began kindergarten.
Natural selection is the process in which heritable traits that make it more likely for organisms to survive and successfully reproduce become more common in a population over successive generations. Each of us individuals is specifically shaped and formed by our own genetic pattern. We inherit this pattern half from are mother and half from are father. The cause of this is the proximate cause that led it’s phenotype to ultimate causes. Much of we know today about evolution derives from the late great pioneer, Charles Darwin. Charles Darwin was an english naturalist that even from an early age was very interested in outdoor pursuits. Early in his prep career his father tried sending him to the University of Edinburg to pursue his medical
Back in Las Vegas, I used to serve for my youth group, YFL, which stands for Youth for Family and Life. YFL is an evangelistic ministry where youth can learn more about God and build that personal relationship with Him. In 2012, I was able to lead a YFL youth treat with my counterpart, Patrick. The joining retreat is a 3-day stay and it is filled with games, activities, sessions about God’s love and His plan, who is Jesus Christ, Faith Repentance, Forgiveness & Healing, and they do not have to be Catholic or Christian to join. I have been in YFL for almost five years, and it was definitely a blessing being given an opportunity to lead a YFL retreat.
Information from chapter one comprised of a summary of my assignments reports from the various ministries served and class discussions post. Moving forward to chapter two talks more of the vast amount of lessons learned through the five goals and the effectiveness of actual hands-on application: the practice of communication, pastoral-spiritual care, the practice of leadership, engaging diversity, and handling conflict. There were target events in each goal setting subject. For example, in communication, my target events were in small groups, classes, writings of creative activities curriculum, and counseling. In this process, my practice skills supported an audience of women, youth both boys and girls, and children. The area of pastoral-spiritual care involved Bible studies, home visits, hospital and nursing homes visits, grieving family visits, and prison ministry visits with the Children of Inmates Program. The practice of leadership comprises of attending events, training, and assisting in various ministries in need. Engaging diversity involved observing other ministry leaders engaging in a large church congregation, speaking at women's breakfast or functions, speaking at funeral services, and assisting in the planning of funeral with family members. Handling conflict dealt with counseling of premarital sessions, marriage counseling sessions, counseling child abuse sessions, counseling drug addiction session, counseling depression with childhood sexual abuse sessions and assisting with crisis individuals seeking assistance through the resources at our church Peacemakers office. Consequently, chapter three describes the most life changing events causing major setbacks in this journey of my calling and the solutions involved. Chapter four detailed some specifics on the results of my self-analysis test. Some of the shared data comprised of personal
