Song: Remember Who I Was Author: James Arthur Reflecting off my 8th grade year with on song is difficult there are so many to choose from but the one I chose was by James Arthur. He has been a big part of my life with music or any of the music I listen too mainly because his music is real and comes from real experiences, he sings with emotions and deposits all the emotions that don’t need to be there. In the beginning of this song it says “I know I hurt you, I was so unkind/ I was ungrateful, I wasted your time” I think of this as a metaphor as me in the beginning of the year because I started a little better than I finished sure I made some stupid decisions, got caught doing stupid stuff which is one thing I think that I am implying when it says “I know I hurt you, I was so unkind” I got involved with some questionable people that don’t make the best decisions and they aren’t the best influence am I use that against myself knowing that I have issues with my own confidence and I make up for that by drawing attention to all my bad parts and hiding all the good which …show more content…
I don’t want that and I’ve come to realize that this year when I got caught vaping I realized how easy it is to get caught and how easily you can get addicted. “In the tears of the ones I love” I look at this as a metaphor of my parents being disappointed in me and I hate the feeling that crawls in the back of my head that tell me they are disappointed because they make it obvious and it
Alan Jackson, a country music singer, is one of a few superstars who has built his career on traditional country. He is “one of the greatest singers in country music that has written the best songs in the history of the genre” (The Boot Staff). He has “written more than sixty singles and half of them have reached to #1 on the charts” (The Boot Staff). Most of the songs that Alan Jackson has written during his career are about his personal experiences. The song “Remember When” was written “during a difficult period in his marriage, which was when he and his wife got separated and then reconciled” several months later (The Boot Staff). In the song “Remember When” by Alan Jackson, the lyrics, music video, and history reveal the events in his life with his wife so they will remember as they grow old together.
By All Time Low I am a critic Of my only critical need to define myself With wine and words and lovers And friends who don't understand So there, I just said it You know that admitting the problem is the first step Towards repair, "We all recover, " Say the friends turned to wine-drunk lovers Smile, tell me I'm alright With a goodbye You are so misleading
Who reminds you of all the people you hurt; who hurt you. Now, who knows all of these things about you? Only one person: Yourself.
The video to “Abraham Martin and John” shows significant similarities and differences. Mom’s Mabley have a different tone that make the listener feel one way. Then Dion’s version is put into a more upbeat tone and it give the listener more of a head bobbing tone. The songs both have a great meaning behind them. “Abraham, Martin, and John” videos show the comparison of the beat and speed the song have, their passion behind it, and their feelings towards these men.
Alex was my best friend. I am using ‘was’ instead of ‘is’ because he’s gone. Forgiving him was the hardest thing i’ve ever had to do. Alex was three years older than me and we lived across the street from each other, growing up. We’ve done pretty amazing things together, like going to Disney World, snowboarding and travelling around the country for basketball tournaments together. But just as any friendship, we had plenty of ups and downs. Some of the downs include: plenty of funerals, my move to Texas and definitely his death.
There are millions of different songs in the nation. Some songs are based on love, humor, pop, country, rock, etc. There are three songs that best describe the three characters that I chose from the book “Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports” by James Patterson. The three songs that describe the different character are “Pumped up Kicks” by Foster the People, “Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd and “Mind Reader” by Dustin Lynch.
I suppose you're glad. Everybody knew you'd mess things up. You weren't no good. You ain't no good now, you lousy tart. "’ (Steinbeck 95)
According to Leech (1974: 13), a meaning is concerned with conceptual and connotative meaning. Conceptual meaning is the meaning when a lyric covers basic, essential component of meaning that is conveyed by the literal use of a word. While Connotative meaning is the meaning implied by a word that is apart from the thing which it describes explicitly. Related to the analysis of both music videos, it could be seen that Blank Space song lyrics contain more verbal signs with connotative meaning rather than conceptual meaning found in it. The total of 45 lines with connotative meaning, 39 lines with conceptual meaning, and 2 lines with double-meaning were found in Blank Space song lyrics.
“Sometimes when you look back on a situation, you realize it wasn’t all you thought it was. A beautiful girl walked into your life. You fell in love. Or did you? Maybe it was only a childish infatuation,or maybe just a brief moment of vanity.”
Once again I must say this album includes lots of songs I have never heard. Most of these songs were written by the songwriting team of Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman. The album includes a song titled “That’s Someone You Never Forget” and is a collaboration between Elvis, who gave the concept and title and Red West. It is thought to be written in memory of Elvis’ mother. The song was released as a single in 1967.
This poem, Praise Song for the Day by Elizabeth Alexander, is one of the most memorable poems that have been recited within the last 20 years. Immediately after President Obama was sworn into office, Elizabeth Alexander recited her poem to the masses that had gathered on that cold winter day in January. The piece is full of symbolism, with the tone being hopeful, inspiring and thankful. The poem begins with a description of daily life which is filled with the daily grind of hard working individuals, often doing the work that drives this great nation of ours…small businesses, blue-collar laborers, honorable professions such as teaching.
Yet I promised myself I would never look at you again. Or that I would avoid it as much as possible. It hurt every time I did, turning around and realizing I had disappointed you.
Consider a 50 year old vase. It is obvious that it was beautiful. Age has taken its toll. The vase’s color has faded. The vase’s top is chipped. It appears that someone dropped the vase. It appears that someone glued part of the vase back on. Many people now see it as an old piece of junk. It’s broken. I am broken. The word “broken” has negative implications. I am proud to be a broken person. Brokenness suggests imperfection. I am not anywhere close to society’s idea of perfection. I am not anywhere close to my own idea of perfection. I am willing to admit that I can be rude. I am willing to admit that I can be pugnacious. I am willing to admit that I can be sarcastic. I am even willing to admit that I can be bitter. That’s simply who I am.
“ I made many mistakes in my life. I just want to prevent you from doing the same” it
There is not one person alive who has not encountered a less than desirable situation in life. Nobody is flawless and everyone has made at least one mistake that they wish they could take back. However, a problem many encounter is they worsen these mistakes by lingering on them instead of learning from them. They worry that others may see them as less than they really are and that they are inadequate because they are not perfect. Albert Ellis, the creator of RET, says people, “upset themselves about their seriousness upsetness. In fact, they may have biological tendencies that encourage them to make a ‘magical’…jump from ‘I badly failed’ to ‘I am a failure-a bad person!’”.
