James Edward Harden Jr was born on August 26, 1989 in Los Angeles, California. Harden is the youngest of three siblings. His father, James Harden Sr. was in the Navy before he got addicted to drugs. His mother, Monja Willis, worked with AT&T. Harden was interested in basketball at an early age. Harden and his father didn’t get along well. In fact, his father never showed up at Harden’s high school games. That’s really sad! Thus, to this day, James refuses to use Jr. when he writes his name. Harden idolized Jason Kapono who played for the Miami Heat.
High School and College
In 2003, Harden enrolled at Artesia High School in Lakewood, California. Artesia High School had a strong hoops program. His coach, Coach Pera thought Harden was ready to play a stronger position in the offense, but Harden refused because he didn’t want to seem selfish. Additionally, he developed a left-handed jump shot. Harden averaged 13.2 points per game and helped his school finish with a 28–5 record at the end of the season.

His career with the Rockets this season has been amazing with Chris Paul joining the Rockets at the start of the 2018 season. Unfortunately, Harden and his exceptional team couldn’t get past the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals to go to the NBA Finals, losing the series 4-3. The Beard as he is known by his fans is now competing with King James for the MVP Award and the NBA is real hyped about this competition. Who do you think will win MVP, The Beard or King James? I think Harden will win MVP because he was the player on the Rockets to pass all the teams in the season and finish the season with the number one spot. Although, LeBron did a lot in the playoffs for the Cavs he still didn’t do enough in the season to claim the number one spot in the Eastern

Alex Rodriguez was born in New York City on July 27, 1975 and is the youngest of three children. His parents are Victor Rodriguez and Lourdes Navarro. When Rodriguez was 4 years old, he and his family moved to the Dominican Republic. It was during this time that Rodriguez began playing baseball. Sadly, it was after the Rodriguez's moved back to the United States that Victor and Lourdes separated and Lourdes was left to raise Rodriguez and his siblings on her own (A+E, 2012).

My idol is James Harden, who is one of the best guards in the NBA league now, while just merely few people know his background of beginning. Harden had slower physical development when he was freshmen. Day after day, he kept training himself to be stronger, and potential energy was developed when he was sophomore.

Political advocacy organizations have historically played a big part in securing political rights for minority groups in Western Liberal Democracies. Whether we look to the now infamous Boston Tea Party to the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, we observe the importance of political organizations in their quest to ensure equitable rights for the people whom they represent. In context of the early twentieth century, the most prominent group to represent African-American’s in the United States was that of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The NAACP, as it is more commonly called, was founded on February 12, 1909 by a mixed group of individuals including but not limited to Ida B. Wells, W. E. B. DuBois and Archibald Grimké with the goal of creating a civil rights organization that would help assist in organizing for civil rights for blacks. One of its most prominent members, Charles Hamilton Houston, who became a part of the organization around the mid-twentieth century, changed the trajectory of the organization for years to come.
