On the sad day of June 15th 1829 James K. polk passed on. Cholera was able to take him down sadly at age 53 in Nashville, Tennessee. James will be forever missed by his friends and family.

Considering the environment in which James grew up certainly had an impact on his life. Some of the influences in his life were being poor, racism, his parents and the church. The areas that affected his moral development stem from when he grew up, doing the time of segregation. Segregation had an impact on how he viewed the world. He felt that everyone should be treated equally. James’s moral belief was that blacks should have a choice, and have the same opportunities as others. When he saw the separate drinking fountains for whites and blacks, he recalls the mental pain, but for him only God could take care of. He used his music as away to communicate how he felt. Growing up poor affected James’s emotional development. He never wanted any handouts.
James Buchanan was born on April 23rd, 1791 in Cove Gap, Pennsylvania. Buchanan’s parents James Buchanan Sr. and Elizabeth Speer were Ulster Scots; his father emigrated from Donegal, Ireland in 1783. He grew up with six sisters and four brothers in a log cabin until they moved to Mercersburg, Pennsylvania in 1797. Buchanan’s educational career consisted of attendance to Old Stone Academy in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and Dickinson College (also in Carlisle, Pennsylvania) where he graduated with honors in 1807, he then moved to Lancaster and earned his law degree. In the War of 1812, Buchanan served in the defense of Baltimore and is known as the only president with military experience who never served as an officer. Although he claimed to love Anne Caroline Coleman, they were never married and after their breakup Buchanan sent the following letter to Corenelia Roosevelt which led people to question his sexual orientation.

Andrew Jackson was born on March 15, 1767 in Waxhaws recon on the border of North and South Carolina. His mom and two brothers died during the conflict of the British invasion of the Carolina in 1780-1781, after the death of his mom and two brothers he had a great hatred toward Great Britain. Jackson was the only President to live in a log cabin, he was born in poverty and was also the only president to be a prisoner in the war. Jackson’s troops gave him the nickname of “Old Hickory” since his troops were of a firmly rooted Hickory tree. There were many disagreement with the government on the actions they made, his troops constantly tried going back home when their enlistment was up. Jackson stayed until the end of the Creek War. When they Promoted Jackson to general he automatically took things into his own hands and took them to war again, they defended New Orland’s from a full-scale attack by the British, forcing them to withdraw from Louisiana.

He is also known for being the first president to be officially married in the white house. Grover Cleveland had a very active life before presidency and less of an active one after.

The Cleveland’s ended up having to move to Fayetteville, New York when Grover was at the age of four. After the move young Stephen’s name did not stick long as he began being called Grover. After nine years in Fayetteville the clevelands then moved to Clinton, New York for another job relocation for Grover’s dad. This move was hard for Grover, being fourteen at the time, as he had to completely start over with little to no way to communicate with his old friends. Over the next couple years the struggles for the Cleveland family continued as Grover’s father was in very delicate health, putting Grover’s dreams of going to college at a halt. In 1853 the remaining of the Cleveland’s kids moved away from Grover to a small village called Holland Patent. When Andrew was nine the Declaration was written and shortly after, signed. And when he was only thirteen he joined the Continental Army as a messenger. The Revolution hurt the Jackson family. All the boys served in the military. Andrew’s eldest brother Hugh Jackson, died in the battle of Stono. Then a couple of years later Andrew and Robert were held captives for a few weeks in 1781.They both got smallpox and when released Robert passed away. Later that year Andrews mother left to Charleston to try and nurse American prisoners of war. There she got very ill and passed away. After the war had passed, Andrew had become an orphan and an only child at the age of 14. The next year he spent living with relatives and being taught how to be a saddle maker.

Rutherford B. Hayes was born on October 4,1822 in Delaware,Ohio. His mom’s name was Sophia Birchard Hayes. Since, Rutherford B. Hayes was the youngest one out of his four siblings, he was the most precious to his mother. His father’s name was Rutherford Hayes Jr. He was a storekeeper and died ten weeks before Rutherford B. Hayes was born. Hayes attended Kenyon College in 1842. Later on, he set off to go to Harvard Law School and eventually graduated in 1845. He had five years of law practice which made him a successful criminal defense lawyer in Cincinnati. He gained a reputation for his criminal cases.
