Each year, the FBI provides research on law enforcement officers that have been killed or assaulted; many people know this as LEOKA. The goal of this data is to provide people with information through the UCR (uniform crime report) about law enforcement officers who have been feloniously and accidently killed, and also officers who have been assaulted in the line of duty. The uniform crime report presents this information through overviews and statistics about each of the victims, where they come from (the state they resided in), and also when and how they were killed. Throughout the years this has become an effective way to research and learn about this topic and understand why it is important to know about. Edward Cheserek was born on February 14, 1994. Then when he started high school he joined his high school cross country team. After a few months him and his coach saw the potential he has for cross country and track. After they saw what all of his times were they were so good that when he went to nation championships he won, and came in first place for that. Richard Kuklinski was born on April 11, 1935 in Jersey City, New Jersey. He was raised in an abusive environment. His father would beat him for no reason at all and all he ever knew was hate because that is all he’s ever known. His father Stanley would beat him with an iron rod and lock him in the basement for hours or days without food. Stanley went so far one night that he killed Richard’s younger brother due to hitting him in the head. His father then abandoned the family when Richard was 16. I believe his upbringing is a large contributing factor of him becoming a serial killer.
After earning his bachelor of science in chemical engineering and his master of science in environmental engineering at Manhattan College in the Bronx, New York, Phil Pulaski worked for four years as a civil engineer with New York City offices of US Environmental Engineering. Early one morning in New York City’s borough of Brooklyn tragedy occurred when off duty NYPD officer Nicholas Batka lost control of his vehicle slamming into four pedestrians. The incident left one dead and three of the people in serious condition. It was found that Officer Batka was legally intoxicated when lost control of vehicle ending up on the sidewalk. The 28 year old officer has been supspend with no pay and is charged with manslaughter along, with 8 other charges. A few of the other charges that were presented against Batka were driving while intoxicated and assault. Officer Batka was heading west on North 8th Street in Williamsburg neighborhood of New York.
