When it was 11:50 Jazz and I went to my Range Rover and got inside the car. Jazz had to drive my car back to the hotel because I sprained my ankle making me too “disabled” to drive a car. God, spraining my ankle has a lot of setbacks, I might even die in my car sine Jazz is driving, I thought to myself. After reaching the hotel without dying, we went to the auditorium to find that it was almost full yet we managed to find two seats next to each other in the fifth row. “Dancers, may I please have your undivided attention up here please. I would first like to start off by saying that the other judges and I appreciated all of the performances that we saw and all of them were full of liveliness and youthfulness. All of the dances were good, but there were some that outshines, others, but I would like to say all of us in this room are winners. On this note, I would like to start calling up the winners of the dance competition,” Madame …show more content…
“For second place is Aiden Johnson,” Madame Antoinette said is an aggravated voice. Travis came up and accepted his trophy took a bow and then stood next to Jazz. I felt really anxious because there was a slight chance that I was going to get first place, but if I didn’t would still be happy for Jazz. “And last but not least the first place winner of the USA Dance competition 2015 is MALIKA CUNNINGHAM.” Madame Antoinette said as she screamed my name at the end. I stood up on my seat with my crutches under my armpits and went to the stage to accept my trophy as fast as my crutches would let me while I was shedding tears of happiness. Once I got to the stage Madame Antoinette hugged me and told me in my ear that she knew that I would win when she saw my determination on the stage while I was performing. I went and stood next to Travis on the other side of the stage and then we all three, Jazz, Travis, and I simultaneously took a

The light shine down and the music surrounds her as she dance into the air and across the stage. The audience yells and clap for her as the curtain close. It’s the end of another work week for Jane Onwuegbuchu. Jane comes from a very huge family of 8, where it’s very hard for her to be at the center of attention, especially being the 5th child. Jane was born in Houston, Texas on June 22, 1987 to Rosaline and James Onwuegbuchu. She started dancing at the young age of 3 with Elite dancers and fell in love with dancing since then. “Growing up as a child, Jane was a very good child, she loved dancing and just seeing her dance melt my heart. She was a part of a lot of dance organization, church, youth dance team etc… You name it and she was there,”

At a young age, Marie Taglioni was constantly exposed to dance. She was born in 1804 to her father, Filippo Taglioni, and her mother Sophie Karsten, both dancers. Several other relatives, including her brother, also danced in the family (Editors at Encyclopedia Britannica). Taglioni’s father moved both her and her brother Paul to Paris, to be trained under the best instructors of the time. However, she was not an instant star—in fact, her instructor reportedly called her a ‘little hunchback’ and wondered if she’d
In sashays Miss America, her arms laden with golden roses, her tiara tilted ever so slightly in a cluster of diamonds. A luminous yellow gown was perfectly draped over her tall figure. Smooth and silky fabric fell perfectly into a puddle behind her on the floor except for the couple inches of fabric that appeared to be bunched together, out of place, and now tucked into the side of her nude coloured tights. She stood on the glossy wooden stage with a smile that was radiating happiness into the audience. Frowning contestants lined the back of the stage, each and every one having a look of envy in their eyes. As all the judges stand up to applaud Miss America a tall, handsome man in a tuxedo enters the stage also clapping, congratulating the

“You all look so pretty!” Our moms shouted as they bursted into tears. We took pictures then got into the limo. When we walked into the cafeteria and my jaw literally dropped. Everything just looked to pretty. All the tables decorated in white. It almost looked like a dream. Alex took my hand and guided me to the dancefloor. We danced the whole night until all the votes were in. I crossed my fingers in hopes that Alex and I would be the winner.
In Harper Lee’s novel To Kill a Mockingbird, she demonstrates that racism is a big problem during the time when this book was written. This story was about a girl named Scout growing up in a small town with lots of racism. A black man get falsely accused with rape, and Scout tries to understand why most people in the town hate black people. When Scout is in class the teacher is talking about how hitler was such a bad guy but Scout remembers that she was at the courtroom acusing all black people are criminals. “She hates hitler a lot … about how bad it was him treatin’ the Jews like that … I heard her say it's time somebody taught ‘em a lesson, they were getting above themselves, an’ the next thing is they think they can do is marry us. Brianna was very pleased with her accomplishment. The award announcements were still not over, and Brianna still was waiting on the top ten results for the intermediate teen solo category. Shortly, the announcements indicated verbally that she won eighth place overall in her category and that she obtained a higher score than the dancer who won tenth place and the dancer who won ninth place, which was Hannah Clark. Brianna had won eight tenths of a point higher than Hannah, and was a good sport in congratulating her in how wonderful she was on the dance floor. Brianna and her teammates all began congratulated each other after the competition, and were all satisfied of their own
I remember not being very confident at all, because I did not know what to expect. We went and bought a dress, shoes, and then got my hair and makeup done. I had practiced walking for weeks before this beauty walk, and so when I got on stage, I wasn’t nervous. I smiled, walked as slowly as possible, and made sure I kept eye contact with the judges. When we were called back out on stage for top 10, which is when I became extremely nervous, I did not think my name would be called, but it was! I had to go on stage and walk again, and this time my nerves took over. I finally got off stage and went backstage to relax for a minute. When we were called back out, it was time to announce the top 5, and the winner. While I stood there waiting, they starting calling 4th. 3rd, 2nd, and 1st runner up and I never heard my name, so I had lost all hope. I will never forget what happened next, the announcer said and the Miss Duncanville for this year is… Kalee Jones! I was shocked I did not move from where I was standing for a
Cheer team's results are going first. We watch as some teams cry because they didn't place and other teams cry tears of joy for achieving. It's dance teams time now and the tension is thick. We grab each other's hands tightly. “And the Grand Champions of the 2016 ------- is…Paul Laurence Dunbar!” Screams immediately escape our mouths. The captains get up to go receive the trophy and the banner. The seniors are crying and we go around hugging each other. We take turns taking pictures with the trophy and banner. We’ll be getting our shirts and jackets in a couple weeks. My mom congratulates me We have the rest of the day of to do whatever we want, so a group of us decide to go back to change at the hotel and go to the
Alanna is a beautiful dancer so I was really honoured when she asked me to be in her technique class. I started doing extra classes and workshops with her which helped improve my stamina, strength and flexibility. Alanna taught me that a great dancer is not great because of their technique, but because of their passion. She always went above and beyond, helping me get to a very high level of dance. Alanna attended almost every dance performance I had and always gave me lots of support. She always encouraged me to keep improving and developing my skills and this is the reason my solo won the top award. I recently got accepted into a touring company and will be starting my thirteenth year of dancing which would not have been possible without Alanna’s help. I am really grateful to have met Alanna because she has inspired me to become the best dancer I can be and has taught me to love dance.
The directors announced that they had awards for each instrument. One person from each would win it. When they got to horns, I was so nervous,
The inclusion of multiculturalism into schools has become an increasingly hot topic as of late. Being a future teacher I have taken a natural interest in the topic as well. It seems that most of the push to incorporate the multicultural issue into the school system has been a reaction to the thought that the American “melting-pot” metaphor is on the decline. Knowing that the demographics of the United States is changing continuously, the main issue about the inclusion of multiculturalism is not whether to place it into the schools, but rather how to position this controversial topic into the curriculum. Many people think that the incorporation of multiculturalism must begin with the teacher education
When we arrived at the Skirball Center we checked in and were escorted to a cramped studio where the rest of the finalists were warming up. After a rushed warm up class, we started to mark through our ensemble. Everythings seems to be going well until Lorraine decided to run the crossovers. She lead a group of people, who had to dash backstage to reach
