In 1979, Trader Joes was sold to Aldi (Corporate chain). This lead to the companies newly stated policies. These policies are opposite to the original guidelines set.

J.C. Penney’s has the desire to become America’s favorite retail destination for apparel, accessories and home fashion. With approximately 1,108 operating stores throughout the United States and Puerto Rico, they serve half of America’s families every year. They employ nearly 156,000 associates and strive to be number one in customer service. Despite the recent economic downturn, JCP maintained a steady cash flow and has been able to keep their company running strong.

In the retail industry, it is hard for a business to abandon all its previous strategies, such as locations and advertising strategies to make a fresh start. However, that is precisely what JCPenney and has been able to accomplish numerous times. Founded over a hundred years ago, the firm has undergone mass renovations with each change in leadership. Moreover, recently, JCPenney, has been reinvented once more, under the leadership of President Michael Francis and CEO Ron Johnson.

If I am having trouble I, can pause and reassess my strategy plan. A problem is a chance to try my best. It trains me to solve problems. It makes me think about different ways to solve a problem. It makes me work diligently on that specific issue. Problems teach me many things, and I try to work very hard to achieve the goal solving the problem.

Zappos started out by selling shoes online to become the world’s largest online retailer of shoes. Subsequently, in their quest to boost sales, they moved beyond footwear to become an E-tailer that sells ‘anything and everything’.

Zappos is an online shoes retailer that started its business in the year 1999. Later on the company had expanded its business to include the beauty products, clothing and even the housewares within its leading e-commerce website. This case emphasizes on the customer service department of Zappos Company and initially the business focused only on the drop ship method. Later on the company also increased the variety of the products. The company had also created a bricks and mortar storefront to expand the business and increase the sales of the business.

This story is about the most complicated issue I have personally had to solve and what I learned from it. The most complicated issue I have personally had to solve would be a problem I am still working on today. I am a manager and partner in a duplex rental business called Firenza Properties. I am responsible for 2 duplexes, making sure rent is paid and maintenance is done. I have had one of the most frustrating problems a manager can have since day 1: unpaid rent.

The first step in the problem solving process, allowed me to identify the problem. A situation can be perceived or thought of as problematic when an individual encounters situations disturbs them or they find that it keeps them from a goal (Bingham, 1999). The problem surfacing in affording an education and paying for everyday necessities became the central focus at that point in my life and defined the problem that needed an immediate response. The problem solving process can best be defined as the best way to overcome obstacles in situations and the steps used to help overcome them (Peterson et al., 2002).
