Work For It Jenifer Lopez is well known for doing everything from movies to fashion and everything in between. She grew up in New York and came from a hard working family that clearly reflects in the work she does. Growing up her mom would always tell her to work hard in whatever she did, and she would always succeed. Lopez’s parents made her believe this when she was young, but she continues to believe that people must work hard to achieve what they want. Her parents were always pushing her and that is why her parents are her biggest influence. Her parents sacrificed a lot of their personal life and worked hard to give her a good home and childhood. I agree with her work philosophy, that one must work hard to achieve whatever they want. Just …show more content…
She remembers when she was young, her parents would always tell her and her siblings that they can do anything as long as they were willing to work hard for it. Both her parents sacrificed themselves by having two jobs and giving up much of their personal life. Her father had a day job and a night job, while her mother was a schoolteacher and worked in Tupperware factory. By her parents doing this they had a good stable home, but this was a perfect example of that anyone can achieve what they want if they were willing to work for it. In the same way, she is doing the same thing that her parents were doing when she was young. She is passionate and works hard in everything she does. In the articles Lopez states, ”…admit to being and over-achiever and dedicating 110% of herself to whatever…” She sacrifices much as her time to finish projects or anything that she has started to work on. She is always committed to everything that she does, and always working hard in everything like her parents has taught …show more content…

Many people have to work hard to be where they would want to be in life, nothing is handed to them. Although he beginning it is rough, the end can be very rewarding and pleasing. A lot of people are scared because they don’t know what to expect, other people are scared because they don’t know where to start or how to begin. That is where their influences come from, so they can set them in the right direction. Just like Lopez’s parents gave her the working traits they had. In world politics, when you are asked who the most influence leaders, political leaders like Theresa May, Barack Obama or even Prince William pop to mind. Alongside her father, Dolores at 11 years old, sold pots and pans door to door and watched him as he was constantly slaving for long periods of time in the heat continually harvesting beats, a little at a time to earn a couple dollars, and those dollars which were most likely going to be spent on her. As he faced the dreadful working conditions, he became a labor activist and accomplished getting on the board of the CIO local at the Terrero Camp of the American Medals Company as the secretary-treasurer. Yet Dolores’s father was only on the committee for a brief amount of time due to how blunt and outspoken he was (Novas 160). He wanted to get his point across and explained his point in very rash tones, but even with his rash tones, Dolores Huerta admired her father in attempting to help the union and labor workers, which were the reasons Dolores Huerta pursued activist roles in the community. When teaching for a brief amount of time at an elementary school, she suffered seeing her students come to class with the face of hunger and in need of shoes, she believed that rather than trying to teach peoples hungry kids, a greater impact could result from organizing a union filled with the participation of farm workers, to petition in order to enforce better rights in regarding the way they were being mistreated.(Doak 34). Through experiencing and visually seeing what occurs due to families not having the advantage or

For instance, whenever she gets home from school she starts doing push ups with her fingers and squeezing the eraser for hours. I know that she is hard working because it is hard to do push ups with your fingers and squeeze an eraser for hours if your not a hard working person. Also, Lupe beat her brother and Alfonso, a neighborhood kid who was supposed to be a champ. I know that Lupe is hard working because if she didn’t practice she wouldn’t have beat her brother or Alfonso and practice takes hard work. The last reason why Lupe is hard working is because she won the marbles championship and even beat the winner of the boy’s division.

Dolores was born in northern New Mexico in April 1930. Her parents divorced when she was young and her mom eventually moved Dolores and her siblings to Stockton, California where she worked two jobs, one as a waitress and the other in a cannery, in order to provide for her family. While she worked her widowed father took care of the children. It was here that the family discovered how much Dolores loved to talk about anything and everything. During World War II Dolores’ mother's financial stability took a turn. Now married to her second husband, Alicia Fernandez ran a restaurant and bought a hotel in Stockton. The hotel served the working class, mainly farm workers. It was here that Dolores was immersed in cultural diversity and the struggle that immigrant families were facing. The quote: "We must use our lives to make the world a better place to live, not just to acquire things. That is what we are put on the earth for." (Dolores Huerta) shows readers that her upbringing and motivation foreshadow her successful future. Her father's life, however, also had a large impact on who she became. He was a farmworker who was employed by beet farmers during their harvest season. He experienced the conditions of farm workers firsthand and wanted to implement change. He began a labor union and in 1938, and used his mostly Hispanic union as a base to win the election to become the New Mexico state legislature. When Dolores learned of what her father did she was inspired to do the same for the people she had met in her mother's hotel. She wanted to be known for making change for people who needed it most and describes taking advantage of opportunities by saying that “Every moment is an organizing opportunity, every person a potential activist, every minute a chance to change the world.” (Dolores Huerta) This quote shows how strong Huerta believed in herself and others to create lasting
