In the book Into the Wild the main character, Chris Mccandless, made a rational decision to exclude himself from human society because he believed that going beyond what his parents and society wanted he would live a happier life. Chris wanted to leave society and venture into the wilderness to find the true meaning of who he was. Chris Mccandless was neither crazy or ignorant to live off in the wild where there was no people or anything to interact with but nature. Justina Lee use of Dillard’s essays is effective because for both ladies the candle light creates a new vision. Thus, allowing them to see things from different perspectives calling it the “final beauty.” Their imagination as a writer, through the light focuses on life rather than death. Lee states that in the light of these candles she sees historical events anew. Like Dillard, Lee looks beyond the surface and tries to find a deeper meaning into the story of the massacre. Lee uses the Moth example to highlight that she is also passionate about being a writer who thinks deeply about the storylines or issues. Lee also used the Weasel piece to explain that Dillard wants her students to be passionate and to use their own ideas. Lee thinks

In America the confederate flag is often known as a symbol of slavery and abuse. Daniel Barkley argued a completely different argument in this text. He stated the confederate flag was removed from South Carolina’s State Capitol because African Americans began to make this their “black power flag”.
The main purpose of the article written by Gerald Jones is to change the public perception of violent media for kids. He argues for this by saying violent media can actually have positive effects on young people because a violent media help the young people to gain self-knowledge and sense of potency through heroic combative storytelling. In addition to this, when young people are growing, watching a media action full pool of blood, killing, stabbing, screams of agony and pleas for mercy help them pull out of the emotional trap by plunging themselves into violent story. Jones also believes that violent media are a positive influence on children because pretend to have a superhuman power helps children defeat the feeling of impotent that inescapably
In the early 16 century, Europeans learned about Natives in the Americas through images depicted by early conquerors. Fortunately, we have several first-hand account by a settler who depicts them in paintings by the name of John White. While these accounts have their limitations in terms of accuracy, it is apparent that Europeans tended to view the indigenous peoples as lacking morality but in my opinion John White proves all the speculation wrong.
The artist I have chosen for this project is John Roger Stephens, also known as John Legend. Born on December 28, 1978 in Springfield Ohio, John showed musical potential at an early age. His grandmother taught him to play his first instrument, which was the piano. He grew up playing and singing in his church’s choir. His talent at that age was amazing, labelling him a child prodigy. Growing up, he listened to music from Michael Jackson, LL Cool J, Boyz II Men, and MC Hammer, very influential African American artists. They were able to change the way people viewed African Americans with their music, and make the world a more accepting place. John knew that he wanted to become a vocalist, and was determined to make his dream

One example of people must forgive in order to be happy is when Cole finally forgives his mom. He realizes that his mother does love him and quits drinking. She apologizes for the abuse he has gone through and not have tried to stop it. She wants to start a new life with Cole. She visits him in the hospital after the spirit bear attack, but also during his second stay on the island she writes him frequently and expresses her care and concern. Cole chooses forgiveness and grows to love his mother, even hugging her warmly when he is able to after he is released from the hospital. This shows that Cole’s ability to forgive and move on results in him feeling more secure and is a major first step to him letting go of the anger that has imprisoned
Chris Mccandless was a man that many would call crazy or maybe even immoral. He left everything to live in the wild and become “one with nature”. He had determination, a strong mindset, fearlessness and courage. I believe that my life and the life of Chris Mccandless are not similar in any aspect. In fact I wish that my life was more like his and that I had the drive and determination to do what he did.
