The main characters are Frankie Valli played by Hayden Milanes, Tommy DeVito played by Nicolas Dromard, Bob Gaudio played by Drew Seeley, and Nick Massi played by Nick Massi. This biographical musical is about the journey of these young boys and there road to fame in the year if 1965. They have plenty of struggle, but some how end up in Rock and Roll history. This is a once in a lifetime experience seeing the inner working of a band and there ambition to succeed in the music industry. It isn't an easy job, but with the right group they made it big and made it in history. …show more content…
There are over a dozen songs sung in this musical. In the musical the audience needs to be able to connect with the music to get a feel of the era, which requires a strong. By all means Frankie played by Hayden Milanes was not a let down. Milanes blew my expectation, he sounded like the original Frankie from the band. My ears can still hear the voice echoing through the halls. Milanes one weak point is that he did not have to much dynamic with the music. Another star that I thought had an outstanding voice was Bobby Gaudio played by Drew Seeley. He made a huge first immersion on the song “Cry for Me”. The music helps the audience realize the texture of the time and how important music was to the boys. To them it wasn’t about the money, it was more about the impact of there music. The company it self had many talents in them. The audience could not get enough all the songs, the songs were mesmerizing. The songs made the musical feel like the classics are the best. The Four Seasons’ were one of the best Rock and Roll legends, to me. The cast altogether had made The Four seasons come back to life. The Four Seasons’ made the hall echo and the audience could here the last notes ringing, if that isn't music I don't know what is. A lot of the musical credibility has to go to the Ben Hartmen, who conducted the orchestra, he made the music and the background music more
Jersey Boys on Broadway played Friday August 22nd at 8 Pm, and performed at the August Wilson Theater in New York. The main characters consisted of Dominic Scaglione Jr. as Frankie Valli, Richard H. Blake as Tommy DeVito, Quinn VanAntwerp as Bob Gaudio and Michael Lomenda as Nick Massi. Jersey Boys is a musical memoir of the 1960’s rock and roll group, The Four Seasons. Through the progression of the play, the audience is taken on a journey as each member of the group narrates a particular development emphasizing how the Four Seasons came to be. In the first Act, Tommy DeVito walks out on stage and begins to tell the audience about the development of the band. At first, the group started out as starting out as "The Variety Trio" along with his brother, Nick DeVito and friend Nick Massi. At that time, Tommy discovered a confused teenager, Frankie Castelluccio, and took him under his wing, teaching him everything he knows about music. With Nick DeVito in prison, the band struggled to gain any form of success, they changed their names multiple times until Bob Gaudio, singer and songwriter came along uniting the lost group (Playbill: Jersey Boys).
Work by Mario Van Peebles that left a mark on mainstream media with films such as, "New Jack City." The movie portrays a raucous examination at the spread of crack cocaine in New York City in 1991. John Singleton's film "Boyz N
Another difference between musicals and operas is that the curtains close in between scenes as the props are changed. In the version of Don Giovanni that I watched, the curtains stayed open the entire time. The songs in the musical function to show a deeper snapshot of the characters’ lives instead of show actions like they did in the opera. Through the songs that are sung, we learn about Annie’s parents, the “hard-knock” life of an orphan in the 1930’s,
One of the main magic’s of the theatre is for the audience to go into it unaware of what they will see, and exit with a whole new view in mind. This is still possible in jukebox musicals even if the audience member is familiar with some of the songs. Songs, text, and all literature can be interpreted in different ways based on the individual. Theatre is meant for all different people to enjoy. Some may like going to a show featuring songs that their favorite artists wrote or that speak to a memorable time of their life. It becomes a discussion about how the audience can relate to the characters.
My favorite aspect of musical would be the lively characters, and their whimsical personalities that effectively engage the audience. Princess Winnifred’s character was especially interesting, and her personality contradicted what one would usually associate with a princess. Rather than elegant and poised, her flawed and childish personality made her seem more 3-dimensional and ultimately, brought the
For instance, the Liberty Bell March by Sousa was the first piece that the musicians performed. This song from the late romantic period and is very cheery in nature. Within this song, the band had long phrases and good pitch. Also, the dynamics throughout the march were overall good, but the pianissimo sections could be quieter. The blend of this song could have been a little bit better,
The original songs in the musical include Magic to Do, Corner of the Sky, Welcome Home, War is a Science, Glory, Simple Joys, No Time at All, With You, Spread a Little Sunshine, Morning Glow, On the Right Track, And There He Was, Kind of Woman, Extraordinary, Prayer for a Duck, Love Song, I Guess I’ll Miss the Man, and Finale. These are the songs Schwartz designed to be catchy, different, and exciting.
He did an exceptional job at maintaining an easy breath while dancing his heart out. I also loved when he would sing above the ensemble and he was able to maintain very clear diction over the multiple cannons underneath him. “This Man I Love” is the first song sung by Lise. Sara Etsy, the actress who played Lise, had a very beautiful soprano voice. She sustained very pretty high notes and had nice control of her air that she could hold long high notes. Her diction made it easy to understand her, especially through her French accent. “Liza” is a very cute song performed by Jerry in the park. He tells Lise that he wants to get to know her and tells her his plan to win her over. I was very impressed by his crescendos and decrescendos and his ability to maintain sustained notes while dancing. The next number was “S’Wonderful.” This included the three main men singing a trio. They had very tight harmonies and great diction! The company joined in with equally strong harmonies as well as great musicianship. Following “S’Wonderful” was “Shall We Dance?” This song features the character Milo, played by Emily Ferranti who sang alto. She had a terrific tone and I loved her diction. She also had wonderful crescendos and decrescendos. Act One finished with the “Second Rhapsody/ Cuban Overture.”
Frank Sinatra’s songs helped Italian Americans embrace their heritage. Sinatra brought various, diverse experiences and, through music, made them relatable to both United States citizens and non-citizens. The lyrics in which Sinatra sang allowed Italians to feel a sense of belonging in America. This project will focus on Frank Sinatra and how his music influenced Italian Americans. Though I do not have a personal stake in this subject matter, I believe it is important to tell this story in hopes that anyone going through change will start to realize that they are not alone. In this project I am looking to emphasize the role that Frank Sinatra’s music played in influencing Italian Americans and allowing them to not feel isolated.
I said that NBC had done several musicals and that now ABC wants to crack at doing one. The effort paid off and I found it to be nice film. The remake was a little more updated with the times by featuring black cast members. The first one wasn't like that when it came to the cast. Patrick Swayze's song: She like the Wind wrote got put in the remake and it sounded good. Surprisingly, I also learned that Bruce Greenwood can sing as well. Instead of just dancing in that famous “Nobody put baby in a corner scene, they also had those two characters singing Time of My Life. We get to see what happened with Johnny and Baby since that summer in 1975. Which made the whole remake be more well-rounded.
The use of music is a key to determining if a film is in the musical genre. Not only are songs used to further the story along in a musical, but they also have the ability to put the audience in the emotional state of the character singing. Song has always been used as a good conductor for emotional understanding. For example, during the song "You Were Meant for Me" in Singin’ in the Rain, Don Lockwood is able to confess his love to Kathy Selden in a way that feels magical and shows a connection between the two would be lovers. Also, the song “There Are Worse Things I Could Do” in Grease is able to betray the emotional depth of the character Rizzo’s fear, shame, and anger. At the time this film came out, topics such as teen pregnancy were not generally presented in films. By having this character sing her issue, the audiences, who may have dismissed her outright for her actions, are able to sympathize with her plight. Moreover, in Rent, the song "I'll Cover You" by Angel and Collins allow the viewer to get caught up in this young couple's relationship without having to worry or even consider that this is a gay couple.
For years, fans of boy bands have been faced with the difficult decision of choosing a favorite band. New Kids on the Block or Color Me Badd? 98 Degrees or LFO? Now, though, fans of ‘NSYNC and Backstreet Boys may finally have the chance to put their rivalries aside. This weekend, during Comic-Con’s San Diego stop, AJ Mclean, Joey Fatone, and Nick Carter, of boy band fame, promoted the movie Dead Seven. The SyFy channel zombie western is being directed by Carter, who also wrote the movie, and stars, Backstreet Boys’, McLean and Carter, as well as, ‘NSYNC’s, Joey Fatone. The team behind 2013’s Sharknado will be helping execute Carter’s vision; and while the movie has yet to be fully cast, it has been reported that McLean will play the villain’s
The overall concert offered a wide verity of choir song, from classical pieces composed by Mozart to musical show tunes. The combination of which resulted in an overall enjoyable experience. The concert was not the first choir concert I had ever attended so I went in expecting it to be similar to the high school choir performances I have seen before. I was not expecting the scale of the concert to be so large. Instead of being one choir and an hour-long program there were four groups along with a much longer program. Each of the choir groups had a different dynamic, sound and feel to it. The differences made it interesting.
