“How you respond to the challenge in the second half will determine what you become after the game, whether you are a winner or a loser.” –Lou Holtz. While this quote is directed towards sports, it also speaks to those who are not athletes. As in football, if something great is happening after a past of struggle, one should not become lazy and let this amazing thing slip away. Also, if a situation seems hopeless, how one reacts to it represents who he or she is as a person. A person can give up and give himself no chance despite what the outcome may be in the end. For Jesse Trapp life was going good until drugs were introduced into his life. It’s shocking how such few decisions can result in tragic outcomes. One man dead, family torn apart,
IT’s fourth and goal it is Super Bowl 49 they were on our own goal line the knees of the offensive line, and offensive line were shaking,as I feel the sweat running down my hands warming up .The ball is snapped I see their best receiver anquan boldin sprint to the middle of the end zone I sprint to him leaving an man wide open. Russell Wilson reaches back and fires I reach out and snatch it almost dropping it I fall to the ground rolling in excitement my team picking me up.As you can see I am talking about a sport hear and this particular sport is football the sport that fills the night air with emotions on Sunday,Monday, and Thursday dreams our bound to happen.People today that want to be in the spot they were in is out there everyday ,staying after practice knowing that it is almost impossible to make it,knowing that it is a brutal game deciding their career, and not being liked by everyone.
“ Don’t walk through life just playing football. Don't walk through life just being a athlete. Athletics will fade. Character and integrity and really making an impact on someone’s life.”
Giving up is something we see often, whether it is a person giving up on their dreams or someone simply quitting a game. It has been shown throughout history that if you are able to keep up a positive mentality in difficult situations you will be able to achieve whatever it is you seek. In the movie, Glory Road, the team is given many chances to give up, from being harassed to being beat up and threatened, heck even failing in school. However, no matter what happened the coach was able to keep being positive about their chances in the season and managed to pull the team together, ultimately winning the championship. This ability to stay positive in life, even when death threats were thrown his way, shows that a positive attitude is key to finding success.
“ When you don’t give up you cannot fail” Adrianna Peterson said this quote. To me it means that if you keep trying, you can’t fail. It’s like Michael Jordan when he didn’t make his high school basketball team. But he kept trying and he kept working hard, and look where he ended up. He was one of the, if not the best that has ever played. He got knocked down but got back up and kept trying. Adrianna Peterson tore multiple muscles in his knee, he was supposed to be done for his career. He started working out and working hard, he came back the next season and almost broke the record for most yards in a single season. He came back and became one of the best running back of the century.
It is human nature that every day we are forced to overcome an obstacle, an obstacle that we may see as a failure. It is the lesson that we take away from that failure that contributes to our success as individuals. Our success stems from our willingness to overcome failure. One quote that helps to reinforce this idea comes from Vince Lombardi who said, “The difference between a successful person and others is not the lack of strength, lack of knowledge, but the lack of will.” After facing a tough loss early in the season, the Middletown Lions football team had to rally and overcome our failures to get back on track for a successful season.
When Jesse goes to retrieve the stolen meth, we get a look into the lives of individuals who are addicted to meth and it is not pretty. We spoke about it in class, how ugly a drug meth is and the affects it can have on individuals and Jesse's experience with the couple--the way they stole an entire ATM, the bickering, the disgusting living environment and the neglect of their child proves how awful a drug it truly
Perhaps we want to experience unhappiness, or at least leave open the possibility of unhappiness, in order to truly appreciate happiness” (Weiner 23). Weiner channels the universal thought that failing before reaching your goal makes that success feel a lot better. This quote stuck with me as I could make a personal connection to it. During our hockey season this fall we lost the FCIAC championship game to St. Joseph, a team we had previously beat 6-1. We dominated the regular season but we never really had a family atmosphere on the team.
“Accept the challenge so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory.” Stated by George S. Patton, a senior officer of the United States Army, trying to explain that if you try to achieve difficult goals and complete them, you will feel success and feel good about yourself. You will feel that because you knew that you have put in the work to complete that and you have felt better than you ever felt before. Challenges are always needed because they help you gain confidence, grow, learn, and excel in whatever you are doing. They are needed because when you excel, you want to do more challenging things because you want to feel that success again. This means that when you have tough goals and complete it, you will feel success and grow as an individual and want to challenge yourself even more.
The subjectively informative written speech was given in 1970 right before his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the year of his death. This speech applies to multiple areas professional, sports and personal, because of the principles of winning and success throughout it. Mr. Lombardi could never have imagined the impact that this speech would have on the world over 25 years later. This speech has been played for countless people over these years to motivate companies, teams, and individuals into reaching the only place to be in when everything is done first place. His use of repetition, allusion and smooth transition makes this speech easy to follow and ensures that the point of giving your all to reach first place is driven home. “But I firmly believe that in any man’s finest hour – his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear – is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle – victorious.”
The story this quote has with my life is inspirational and helped me though a tough time. This year for volleyball I got dropped down a level of completion from the Freshman 1 team to the Freshman 2 team. This disappointed me because I had worked so hard all summer to get on high team. I talked to my coaches and asked them what I needed to improve on and if later on in the season I could possibly move up to the higher team. They explained to me what I needed to work on and told me I could move up if I worked hard. As the season

Hall of fame baseball player, Babe Ruth, once said, “It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.” Throughout my involvement and participation in baseball, I have always kept this quote in the back of my head just to remind myself to keep grinding and stay committed when things get hard. Baseball has taught me, and even my family, valuable life lessons over the course of the last several years.
I could really connect with this because you can’t always be focused on the outcome of the game or match. Instead, you should focus on the process, or the “journey” that it takes to get to that point, and you should enjoy it and give it everything you have. As the book states it, during the journey “the true joy and challenge lies in pursuing ongoing personal growth, loving the pursuit, and living the various textures of your life.” So what can we take from this quote? What I took from it was that the real enjoyment of the journey comes from seeing yourself improve and grow as an athlete and a person, and also to be balanced, and have fun in other areas of your life as well. I can relate to this because in the past I used to get so caught up in the potential outcome of the future, and my thoughts would become negative because I would worry so much. I would get so caught up that I would totally ignore just how much I had been improving over that period of time, which would kill my performance. But that’s why it’s the past, right? For the past 3 years I have been keeping a daily log of all my goals, outcome, performance, and process, and I’ve also been keeping a daily journal of what has been on my mind, and how my day went. It allows me to literally see how much I’ve grown as an
I find this quote to be very true in everything I do, from shcool, to sports. This was really evident when I tried goalie this spring, as it was a lot of mental stress because youre the last person that can keep the ball out of the goal. In this posistion you had to have a short memory so that you didn’t stay caught up on the stupid mistakes. Because if you did then the would overpower you and you would end up doing worse because of it. Eventually you just had to figure out how to keep it out of your head and rather focus on things like humor and irony. This is very important in life with everything because if you focus on the bad it will end up consuming you and it’ll be
In my life, I have always tried to live by one of my favorite quotes. I learned this quote In 5th grade. The quote is “I have not failed, I just found ten thousand ways that won’t work” by Thomas Edison. A cheesier version of this quote is “Never give up.” In my life, I find myself always trying to do something even though the moment is gone or there is not enough time left or it is really hard or even when people say I can’t do something. For example, In baseball I would always get hit by a pitch, but that never stopped me from playing. If I forgot to do my homework one day, I would not just say, “Oh well, sucks to be me.” No, I would try to take all the time I can, so I don’t get in trouble. Also, a more recent one, if I did not study for a test, I would not just give up, I would find more ways I could study for the test.
