Do you think high schools should provide free daycare during school hours for the students with children? If students don´t have someone to watch their baby while they go to school most likely the students will drop out of school to take care of their baby. So if high schools have free daycare the students can go to school and be a mom. Most jobs don't take high school dropouts because they don't have a high school diploma so therefore the mom won't be able to provide for her baby and buy the baby what it needs. Usually the child of a teen parent become a teen parent themselves and drop out of school because they saw their mom/dad drop out so therefore the child needs to see their parent(s) graduate and have someone to be a good role model for them.
Great post Annie. My community is stereotyped as a community where people are not prepared or educated. It is really hard to work in a school where 99% are adult Hispanic people because some of them are immigrants that came to this country just to work and send money to their families in their home countries. They are not interested on set up goals on education. They just want to learn English and get a better job. I feel blessed because in the school I work more people are motivated every year to get higher education. Many students are motivated when they see their peers' achievements. My school as well as yours provide students many services one of them is free childcare. It is the principal need of parents in my community, so with this program
This gives lower-income students the opportunity to attend school and remove the burden of student loans and having to be a full time student as well as a full time employee. This accessibility may encourage students to continue their studies as many may leave prematurely as they believe they will not have the chance to go to university.
Not only will birth control decrease risk for disease and teen pregnancy, it will increase the rate of teens receiving a high school diploma. Teenage girls are more at risk of dropping out if they become pregnant; however, if they had birth control, a higher quantity would not get pregnant and drop out. Saras Chung, author of “New Study Links Teen Pregnancy and Dropout, Spotlight Solutions,” asserts, “Teen pregnancy and high school dropouts are linked.” This expert opinion displays that vital consequences are linked to teen pregnancy. Chung also listed some statistics in the same article. She affirms, “One in three teen mothers earned neither a diploma nor a GED” (Chung). Some teenage mothers do not go on
mentioned previously, this helps to target at-risk youth, this is achieved because the system is designed to reach those that do not fit in well with the current centralized system, which also targets those that have dropped out of school as well.
Have you ever thought why won’t the schools develop daycare programs at the school? The daycare center at the school for young teen mothers who dropout of school to start their career early without furthering their education and young teen fathers won’t feel the need to drop out to get a job and support his child. There are some on site daycare’s in some states but there’s just a few, there needs to be more. Although having on site daycare center has some bad to it, to others it has some good to it like teen parents feeling of security can be satisfied knowing that their child is in a safe place, create more jobs, and teens save up money and welfare won’t be an option.
Another thing parents could use money, is that instead of paying for childcare every week or so parents can try to save up that money for a college fund for their child. It is another great opportunity
The benefit to the child is that they can partake in activities with their peers rather than be left out. This ensures the child has maximum opportunities in school and doesn’t have to miss any lessons.
A new challenge has overcame this generation of society. Keeping teen-moms in school and graduating with a degree, is a circumstance the community should risk fighting for. This generation of humans, the thought of sexual activity is more common and there are higher risks of producing a baby. The importance of keeping pregnant teenagers in high school, is so influential for their education and their future career. Becoming a new mom would lead to new stressful situations, which may cost them to quit high school and get a job to care for their newborn. Having new ideas and ways to prevent dropout rates from increasing, could just save their education. There are some strategies that are more common in high schools today,
The end result of pregnant teen moms causes graduation rates to decrease. Only about two-thirds of children born to teen mothers earn a high school diploma, compared to
The mother’s education level is the main predictor of the baby’s life outcome. If the mother does not receive a high school diploma, the chances of living in poverty are increased. The group can educate mothers on alternative ways to obtain a high school diploma. There are many options the teens can use to obtain a high school diploma. One alternative is obtaining a G.E.D. There are also program that allow teens to finish
The program that I choose to write about is a center base program. I choose this program because I am more familiar with this type of program. This program will take place in a school base setting. I think with a school base program it will benefit the parents because it will allow the parent to have adequate childcare services. If a teacher gets sick, it is up to the job to find teachers to keep the classroom running oppose to a home setting center. If the teacher gets sick a home daycare, then, the parents will have to find somewhere else for their child to attend school because that person cannot care for their child/children or the parent will have to take off of work themselves.
Some people say that year-round schooling would disrupt summer and other already made schedules. Summer break would be shorter, but other breaks throughout the year to make up for it. For parents concerned about what they would do with their child during breaks, day care programs either through the school or other programs, will adjust. High school students looking forward to summer jobs could help run day cares or baby sit during breaks. This would also help to solve the previous
In a black community, dropping out of high school is more common among the black race than those of the white race. Thus, those poorly parented males do not graduate, and therefore, look to the streets for guidance the not given to them at home*. In addition to poor supervision, black makes are restricted in their educational opportunities to pursue*. For most, not having the ability to further their education forced them to drop out of high school and pursue the street life*. After multiple types of research, according to statistics, in 2008, it was estimated that approximately twice as many black males will drop out of high school in comparison to white males*. In total, 9 percent of black males dropped out of high school, with only 5 percent
More parents than ever these days are working outside of the home. This means that when the school bell rings, many children are left unsupervised and with no where to go but an empty house with no supervision. Not only that, but some parents are also struggling to provide adequate after-school care. Either they cannot afford the monthly payments of a daycare, or the programs are just simply not available to them. (Ansell, 2004).
