Unique in the Resurrection. The crowning miracle of Jesus’ earthly mission was the resurrection. It was not only predicted in the Old Testament (Psalms 2, 16), but Jesus himself predicted it from the very beginning of his ministry: He said, ' ‘Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.’ ... But the temple he had spoken of was his body' (John 2:19, 21; Matthew 12:40–42; 17:9). Jesus demonstrated the reality of his resurrection in twelve appearances over forty days to more than 500 people.
Unique in the Ascension. Just like his entrance into this world, Jesus’ departure was also miraculous. After commissioning his disciples, 'he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently

Everywhere Jesus went people were amazed at His miraculous powers. The Apostle John uses Jesus miracles as an organizing principle in his gospel. He calls them semeia, or “signs” indicating that each miracle was a concrete demonstration of Jesus’ divinity and messiah ship. The purpose of the signs were to produce belief as they did for the disciples at the wedding at Cana (John 2:11) and the
John, the disciple whom Jesus loved, only records eight of the many miracles preformed by Jesus during his three year ministry on earth. John chose miracles that reveal Jesus as God in the flesh. This reflection of Jesus as God incarnate can be seen from a different angle in each of the recorded miraculous signs.
The earliness of these accounts, at a time when hostile witnesses were present, would have made a fabrication unlikely and dangerous. There is agreement on the main facts and great variety in the witnesses given, yet they are not a mere repetition of some standardized story with all the discrepancies worked out. Indeed, the accounts of Christ’s resurrection appearances are clearly independent of one another, as their surface dissimilarities suggest. Deeper scrutiny, however, reveals that these appearances are non-contradictory. No reputable New Testament historian doubts the historical fact that the tomb in which Christ was placed after his crucifixion was empty. Therefore, there are only three explanations for it. Either his enemies took the
In the modern Western culture, there are few topics that are more controversial than the discussion of Jesus Christ in public places, whether on the political stage, in the workplace, or in public schools. The silence of Christians in the face of violent criticism against the faith has led many to wrongly assume that Christianity is a faith based on myths and falsehoods, which could never be backed by fact or historical evidence. At the center of this assumption is the resurrection of Jesus, an event so miraculous that, without digging a little deeper, it seems impossible that it could actually be supported by evidence. However, regardless of how impossible it might seem, there is a wealth of evidence available to support the biblical Resurrection
Still, the resurrection of Jesus Christ has been under persistent attacks since the Apostolic age. Why? Because it is the central confirmation of Jesus' identity as the incarnate Son of God, and the ultimate sign of Christ's completed work of atonement, redemption, reconciliation, and salvation. Those who oppose
Until Poe’s detective stories, there were no conventions of detective fiction. Poe puts in place the rules for writing a modern detective story. Poe captures the mindset of a detective in his Dupin short stories. Edgar Allan Poe uses the hands of an animal, a missing boat and a letter rack to show the value in deductive reasoning by criticizing simplicity in his portrayal of a detective
There are many connections linking the Old Testament and the New Testament. These connections are formed to parallel Jesus Christ in the Gospels from the stories of the Old Testament. These examples are used to show the truth of the Old Testament and to present the fulfillment of Jesus Christ. A few of these examples are Moses and the Pharaoh and Jesus and King Herod, Lamb of God and Passover, Moses and the Burning Bush and “I AM” statements, and finally, the parting of the Red Sea and Jesus Christ’s baptism. All of these examples are shown in the Old and New Testament and are shown as miracles because these parallels happened years apart from each other. This is the fulfillment of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.
Jesus walking on the water validates His sovereignty over nature and ability to command nature in our behalf (6:16-21). A man was born blind (9:1-41) because of the result of our fall in Adam. Healing the man born blind shows that Jesus is not limited to tradgey or the limitation of birth, family and alike. Physicial death is the greatest threat to human exixtence, the raising of Lazarus (11:1-46) proves that Jesus is not restricted by the power of death.
Many of us were not alive at the time of Jesus’ resurrection, but it is still a hot topic all around the land, especially in light of the 50th anniversary of the amazing event. The story of Jesus and his resurrection is well known and has been passed down through generations depending on particular religious thoughts and beliefs. Another significant event that occurred approximately 50 days after his resurrection is Pentecost. Sources say that around 50 days after the resurrection of Jesus, a group of his followers, Apostles, were gathered in the great hall hoping to spread the word of God. It is then said that an abnormal gust of wind blew through the window, and suddenly tongues of fire appeared above each and every one of the Apostles heads, in turn allowing them to speak a number
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is not a miracle, special effects or a magic show. It's a message, a sign, it has a deeper meaning. When I think of the resurrection, the word hope comes to mind. If I had a penny for every time I thought I was going to give up I would have a lot of pennies. But in my doubts, I thought about Jesus rising from the grave and what he went through, how he had faith in his father, and hope in his heart that he would be able to get through the pain he was suffering from us, why can't I keep pushing through. Now I'm not saying I'm Jesus, I couldn't go through all that pain for a lot of these people and still have love for all of them afterwards, that's why he's one of a kind. The resurrection gives me hope in society,
The resurrection of Christ is an event that if true provides good evidence that Jesus is truly the son of God. Christ 's resurrection is an event which only God himself could perform. This resurrection is far different from the everyday resurrection by medical equipment. This resurrection is an eternal
Throughout the New Testament are recounts of the miracles that Jesus performed to give proof that He was indeed the Son of God and the Messiah foretold of in the Old Testament. John chose to recount only seven of the many miracles that Jesus performed. He felt that these seven, more than any of the others, showed definitive proof that the Messiah, the Son of God, had come as promised.
Toward the end of His mortal ministry, Jesus had to demonstrate much perseverance in the Garden of Gethsemane as He faced the final acts of finishing our salvation.
