Judaism, Islam, and Christianity are some of the religions that most individuals can relate to, being the three largest religions in the world. Like many religions they share many differences and also some similarities. One difference that these religions hold is their view of Jesus Christ. Similarities are surprisingly common to find among some religions because of the basis they put on one another. Some similarities between these religions include: belief of monotheism and the influence of Zoroastrianism had on each religion. Also another similarity carried out by these three religions would be the significance of Abraham. Some other differences include: religious texts and also how they approach God in prayer.

What is Judaism? Who are Jews? Judaism is considered one of the oldest and most popular monotheistic religions today. Judaism’s followers are called Jews and they have been through many tough challenges and trials but are still able to proudly identify themselves as Jews. Jewish beliefs, customs, history, holidays, symbols, and the holocaust are just a few of the things that make Jews who they are.

There are many religious beliefs that have confused people throughout the years. For example, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christians are the most commonly religions that confuse people. A religious belief is basically a belief in God or gods. Hinduism is a religion where people do witch craft in what they believe that will help and protect them.

I am thrilled and delighted to conduct research on the subject of Judaism because “it is one of the oldest monotheistic religions” (p.18). As a Liberty University Student and Christian, I have the academic and personal curiosity to be diverse in different languages and have an understanding of how it was derived and why. Being a professional in the Department of Defense, I have co-workers that practice Judaism and I want to be able to understand the similarities and differences between Judaism and Christianity. Being one of the oldest monotheistic religions in history means that Judaism was being practiced about 3500 years ago. This alone is exhilarating enough for me to research on its origins.

Religion plays a very significant role in most cultures, and the problems experienced by the Jewish women had roots in their religious faith. In Russia, Jewish women were required to appear in public with uncovered heads against their religious beliefs. Women who disobeyed this rule were met with unprecedented violence. The police officers tore off their wigs and bonnets, dragged them off by their hair to the police station, poured cold water on their heads, and kept them on arrest for several days. According to the Jewish laws, it was forbidden for a woman to display her hair in public, and this rule therefore posed a dilemma to the Jewish women. Like other theologies, mysticism contains explanations to the creation of the world, descriptions of what God is and what He embodies, and the purpose of life and what must be done to achieve our purpose. Due to the complexity and devotion required to become a mystic, it is not seen as a practice that can be conducted outside or in attribution to Judaism, but a continuation. To be a mystic, one must not limit themselves to seeing, doing or knowing what God does, but they must be a manifestation of God himself. Reform Judaism is a religion that has a very covenantal relationship with God through correct practices. Through the Torah scroll, Jews are able to read the stories of the Five Books of Moses and learn what God would like from his people otherwise known as his “will” for the people (Fisher 261). The Torah is in existence because Jewish people believe that “…there is one Creator God, the ‘cause of all existent things’” (Fisher 262) and that the Torah scroll is the main way that God communicates with them. Mysticism is a word we find in many books that relate to religious experiences. Mysticism is interpreted as searching for spiritual truth and wisdom through the unification with the Divine. Many Christians today believe that the words associated with mysticism like meditation and mystic are not coherently related with Christianity, but more with many Eastern religions. Eastern religions are definitely known for their mysticism, but it is believed to not be a part of Christianity. Mysticism is actually a vital part of Christianity in ways that are more spiritual rather than only being engaged with Christian rituals.
