John Brown was killed by hanging in December of 1959 for treason against the government. John Brown was a dangerous abolitionist who killed many people to save slaves. John Brown was a villain because he killed innocent people who didn’t even own slaves, he also tried to arm slaves and start a rebellion, and he also raided a military arsenal.
To understand Henry “Box” Brown, it is important to understand the importance of slavery and its impact on them and their families. Helping young students understand oppression and discrimination of African Americans is particularly challenging, but without addressing this, the students’ worldview of other people cultures and values may be limited. If teachers disregard specific information in there lesson, the learning experience wouldn’t be as sensation-rich and memorable for the students. Thus, for example, engaging the students with bodily-kinesthetic, visual-spatial, and musical hooks throughout the year allows the learner to be “fully involved” in the learning process and outcome. There are many opinions on John Brown and his work, but John Brown is mainly a hero because of his efforts to end slavery. John Brown has been thought of as an evil, cruel, bloodthirsty man, but John Brown did not commit crimes or cause harm and violence to people for no reason. Around the time of the early 1800's, our nation was having a battle amongst ourselves over a prevelant issue. This issue was slavery. Southern regions featured slaves taking on prominent roles in relation to the cultivation of crops such as tobacco and cotton. While there were many who were obviously pro-slavery, there were those who were against it. These abolishionists battled the institution of slavery head on and sought to destroy the system, one way or another. One of these people decided to take action by raiding a federal arsenal at Harpers Ferry, a small Virginia town. The person's name was John Brown. His aim was to aid escaped slaves by equipping them with weapons, thus create an army of anti-slavery rebels that would destroy the opressive system of slavery for good. While Brown's goal was an admirable one, his venture would prove to be disappointing.
Today, modern sports fans do not consider the significance of the first black player, who broke the color barrier similar to Jackie Robinson. Fritz Pollard ended the many years of segregation in the NFL as he started a new trend of black players in the league. About 20 years later, the progress of African Americans in the NFL increases to 30% and now it is more than twice the amount. He has memories of fans who would aggravate him by calling him names and telling him to dance like a fool. This resulted in The influence and help from players such as Jim who evolve the sport into a more suitable environment for players to feel comfortable and more importantly accepted. Similar to the NFL, many examples of racism are found in the NBA, yet unlike the players who responded to the situations by holding back their emotions and opinions players
