Who Is Jimmy Carter A Horrible President

Hello Everyone, You know, there are a lot of people who say that Jimmy Carter was a horrible president. But, I just don’t see this. For the first time in our nation’s history there was a politicization over global human rights. Previously, our foreign policy was to protect our interests abroad. In the wake of that, innocent humans were caught up in it. Carter wanted to reform this. That being said, I think his most important accomplishments were in the foreign arenas. At home, the conditions Carter was facing started long before he came into office. He was expected to single-handedly cure the oil shortage and the massive inflation crisis. But, these things couldn’t be done in one term when their circumstances came together starting decades earlier, by the decisions of earlier presidents to create the perfect storm. The seeds of the Oil crisis are planted in the late 40s when the State of Israel is created and many of the Arab inhabitants don’t like it. Then, to pour salt on an open wound, Nixon supports Israel after it is attacked by Egypt and Syria with the aid of the Soviet Union. For one, he helped Egypt and Israel come to some peaceful agreement at the Camp David Accords. He was also the president that finally made official a relationship with China that had been in the works during at two presidencies before him. Even with Taiwan Relations Act, Carter was able to come to the table with the Peoples’ Republic of China and forge an agreement that had been sought after for years. Another of Carter’s successes were the Torrijos-Carter treaties and the Bilateral Strategic Arms Limitation treaty, both of which prevented more problems for the US in the public
