employees tend to have the most conflict between taking care of their family member who might be sick and their job responsibilities. Background of Job-Sharing: Job sharing is also another type of precarious work although it is a voluntary contract. It is usually held within family members or women with children (Curson, 1986). Job sharing has not been around for long as well as stated by Curson (1986) with “Job sharing came into prominence in the UK about five or six years ago”. He further explained that “The main stimulus came from women who wanted to continue in work and combine this with a family role”. This meant women who would like to work again after having children but wants to look after their children equally tend to look for jobs that can be shared. This way, both workers share salary, responsibilities, benefits as well as the workload. As agreed by Gottlieb, Kelloway and Barham (1998), “For employers, job sharing is a creative way of achieving a healthier balance between paid employment and the demands from family life.” According to Curson (1986), job sharers have a strategy on working like doing split days where one worker works in the morning and the other in the afternoon. Negative Impacts of Precarious Work on Individuals: There are numerous reasons on why precarious work is not ideal. Individuals have to hold the whole burden of holding low-paying jobs (Porter, 1996) these could hamper their future plans as well as affect them psychologically.
