The Dred Scott Decision of 1857 ruled that African-Americans, even ones who were not enslaved, were not protected under The Constitution and could never be citizens. This brings up questions that will be answered in this paper. Should slaves be American citizens? Is it morally correct for one to own another human? Does the Dred Scott decision contradict The Declaration of Independence which states that every man is created equal?

Avriel Benjamin Kaplan was born on April 17, 1989, to Michael Kaplan and Shelly Kaplan in Visalia, California. Since Michael Kaplan was Jewish Avriel Benjamin Kaplan’s name was hard to pronounce, so they called him Avi for short. When Avi Kaplan was five years old his sister was born, Esther Kaplan. He went to school at Mt. Whitney High School. In school, Kaplan was bullied because he was part Jewish. As a freshman in high school, he was asked to join a chamber choir primarily made up of junior and senior students. When Kaplan was 15 he taught himself to play guitar, and later in life, he even performed at restaurants and other places. he performed at Visalia, California coffee houses. Kaplan wrote his first song called “Collision” which is very close to his heart.

However, he has destroyed many old neighborhoods and created a different sense of community. Jeremiah was born around 650 B.C. The son of Hilkiah, a priest from the town of Anathoth, in a small village located North of Jerusalem in the territory of Benjamin.The meaning of his name is “Yahweh Exalts” and “Yahweh Throws”. His career is believed to have started when he was around twenty or twenty three years of age. The book begins with an account of Jeremiah was called to be a prophet even before Jeremiah was born Yahweh had a plan or purpose for him to fulfill. There is much information known about Jeremiah’s personal life as a prophet than any other in the Old Testament because he has give glimpses into his thinking, concerns, and frustrations.

The Book of Jeremiah is of prophecy genre. Jeremiah is appointed a prophet to the nations by the Lord. Israel is unfaithful and Jerusalem is attacked. Jeremiah addresses the people of Judah and declares that false religions are worthless. The covenant is not kept. Jeremiah complains to God of the wicked. God answered

The south for a good while was always fond of using slavery as a cheap source of work. The increase in the number of slaves was when John Rolfe became one of the first to cultivate tobacco in the so called “New World back then in the 17th century. There was good money to be made about the amount of labor that went into the tobacco cultivation was harch, hence why slaves were used. Ever since then, it is obvious to note that slaves dominated the aspect of southern life. Whether that be economically, socially or politically, slaves played an important role in each category.

Adam Walsh At six years old, Adam Walsh was abducted by Ottis Toole, who violently abused him, and ultimately killed Adam. The Adam Walsh case had a huge impact on the world. Born to John and Reve Walsh, Adam came into the world on November 14, 1974 in Hollywood Florida. Adam Walsh died in Florida in his hometown, Hollywood on July 27, 1981 (Standiford, n.d., Page 57).

Many LGBTQ teens and young adults all across America are suicidal and have no one to talk to. In this situation, they can turn to the Trevor Project, a 24-hour lifeline for LGBTQ teens and young adults who are feeling suicidal. Many LGBTQ teens are bullied at school and people won’t stand up for them because they don’t want to be bullied. The emotions bottle up and eventually some of them turn to suicide. Instead of going through with it, they are encouraged to call Trevor’s suicide lifeline. I want to get involved in this organization because I think it is important that everyone, no matter how people view them, realize they are worth more than society makes them out to be.

Michaelle Jean is a Catholic who was born on September 6, 1957, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. This year she is 59 years old. In her early life, she lived a middle-class life. Her parents decided not to let her go to school because she would have to swear under the dictator, François "Papa Doc" Duvalier. Instead, Michaelle was home-schooled. Her father got tortured, so he fled to Thetford Mines, Quebec in 1967, and the following year, Michaelle and the rest of her family joined. The family eventually separated because her father became violent. Michaelle left with her mother and sister to go to Montreal. She received a bachelor's degree in Italian and Spanish at the Université de Montréal. She received many scholarships to let to make trips to Italy to study at the Perugia, Florence, and Milan universities. She knew how to speak five languages and worked for shelters for abused women. She married a Canadian filmmaker, Jean-Daniel Lafond, and adopted Marie-Éden from Jacmel.

Several times in the Bible, the Lord commissions a person to serve as a prophet and a leader for his people. While those who are commissioned are elevated by that choice, those commissions are not always positive. On the contrary, the Lord is frequently responding to something that people have done that He finds disappointing or upsetting. As a result, the commissioning often have an ominous tone to them, even though they reflect the Lord's pleasure with one of his servants. Isiaiah 6 and Jeremiah 1 both demonstrate how a commission was both an honor and a burden for the men who received them in the Bible. They also demonstrate that the prophets were tasked to do difficult things.

After reading Contemporary Literary Theory: Its Necessity and Impossibility, I find that I agree with most of what Robert Young says in regards to literary theory. The main point that really struck home with me was when he talked about theorists lacking the ability to connect with a wide audience. He states, “Literary theorists seem to speak and argue with each other in a private language, making little effort to address a wider audience” (Young 165). I could not agree more with this assessment. When we first read about Jacques Derrida and his theory of deconstruction I questioned my intelligence. It may as well have been written in Greek. It has been a very long time since I have encountered something that left me with absolutely nothing after reading it. I tend to agree

Jeremiah may be one of the most intriguing and revealing of the Old Testament prophets. With his continual return to god and the constant struggle between his heart and the voice of god. This elevates him as a human being and not just as an instrument of god (Paterson 144). He is one of the most human of prophets mentioned in the Old Testament and at the same time most Christ like in aspects of his sermons and works. His story has intrigued many for it is of human weakness and strength (Paterson 139). Let us now take a look at his life and at his works.

The purpose of this paper is to highlight the main themes of Isaiah and Jeremiah. The main themes of Isaiah are: (1) Son’s Names as Signs. (2) Servant. (3) Holy One of Israel. (4) Redeemer. (5) Eschatology. The main themes of Jeremiah are: (1) God’s Policy with Nations. (2) New Covenant. (3) False Prophets.
