The United States of America has had many Presidents over the years. John F. Kennedy was one of if not the best and most accomplished president. Kennedy cared about his country and the people living in it. For example one of his famous phrases was, "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country". Another example of John F. Kennedy's caring attitude towards the U.S. and its people was mentioned by whitehouse.gov, saying "His economic programs launched the country on its longest sustained expansion since World War II; before his death, he laid plans for a massive assault on persisting pockets of privation and poverty." Kennedy was nominated as president, he went to college, served in the military, and was a politician. John went to Harvard University and graduated in 1940. This on its own is a large accomplishment considering the prestige of Harvard University. After college Kennedy wanted to serve his country, so he entered the navy. During his time in the navy Kennedy was injured , but still saved many lives, showing his willingness to give his own life for his comrades. In his biography in whitehouse.gov, it mentions this event saying, " In 1943, when his PT boat was rammed and sunk by a Japanese destroyer, Kennedy, despite grave injuries, led the survivors through perilous waters to safety.". After the navy, Kennedy entered politics and advanced to the senate in 1953. As a politician he was almost nominated for the democratic party's choice for vice-president. When he was in the hospital at one point, according to whitehouse.gov, "In 1955, while recuperating from a back operation, he wrote Profiles in Courage, which won the Pulitzer Prize in history.". This is just one of Kennedy's successes and yet all he wanted to do was to help his country and the people living in it. President Kennedy’s idea was to improve education and the healthcare system for all American’s. His idea was to improve on the previous presidents programs. One of these ways is the way he dealt with the Cold War. The Cold War was a product of the US and the Soviet Union not trusting each other, this very easily could've ended in Nuclear Warfare but Kennedy managed to prevent it. He had to deal with other issues such as the Berlin Wall and the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, but he was always smart and looked for the way of peace and not violence.
