John Francis Bongiovi. Does the name sound familiar? No? How about Bon Jovi? Of course it sounds familiar. Bon Jovi is one of the most well known bands of all time. John Francis Bongiovi Jr. was born on March 2nd, 1962 in Perth Albany, New Jersey. His parents, Carol and John Bongiovi, were very proud of their son’s musical ability in piano, guitar, and singing. Music was a part of his life ever since he was a kid. At 16 years old he was playing in clubs and thoroughly entertaining his audiences. He idolized Bruce Springsteen and Asbury Jukes. Not only does he have a lot of songs, some of them very famous, but most of them have a meaning to them or they have a good story to them. Take his most famous song, Livin’ on a Prayer. The song is about a working middle class couple, Tommy and Gina.Just look at the lyrics and see for yourself. “Tommy used to work on the docks. Union’s been on strike, he’s down on his luck, it’s tough. Gina works the diner all day. Working for her man, she brings home her pay for love.” There it sets up this middle class couple who is having a hard time getting by. The song then goes on to say, “She says, “We’ve gotta hold on to what we’ve got. It doesn’t make a difference if we make it or not. We’ve got each other and that’s a lot. For love we’ll give it a shot.” We’re halfway there, livin’ on a prayer. Take my hand and we’ll make it - I swear, livin’ on a prayer.” Gina said that they can’t give up and just keep moving forward with everything they have.
