For this assignment, I interviewed my brother-in-law, Jeff Meloen. Meloen is actually a musician, a drummer to be specific, himself. I thought it would be very interesting to hear about a concert/show from another musician’s point of view. Meloen began by telling me that this John Mayer concert in particular was his favorite live show he had ever seen. It took place the day after Mayer did a controversial interview with Playboy magazine in which he had made some sexual comments concerning Jessica Simpson, along with a racist comment that in turn sparked a lot of outrage. Meloen also mentioned that the opening act for Mayer was Michael Franti and Spearhead, who he believed to be an odd opener for Mayer, as their music seemed more reggae. Meloen could tell the crowd enjoyed Franti’s band but was ultimately anxious to see John Mayer. …show more content…
He played his song “Gravity”, but just before the guitar solo in the song, he brought the band down real soft and had them continue to play while he commented on his interview from the day before to the audience. Meloen said Mayer became very emotional and began crying in front of nearly 15,000 people, as well as the rest of the world as videos were uploaded to YouTube of this raw moment. Mayer gave a long speech during this time in which he said that many times he tries to be clever in what he says and ends up saying things he regrets. He went on to apologize and then began with his guitar solo in the song “Gravity”. Meloen described it as the best guitar solo he had ever heard and stated, “He was playing so emotionally. All of the emotions John Mayer felt were channeled into his guitar. It gave me chills watching and it was just a great moment in

Very few Henry County High School athletes go to a big-athletic Division 1 college. An even smaller list went to play pro. There has only been one that has won a championship in the pro leagues. That man is John Lewis Hudson. John was born in Memphis, Tennessee but he grew up in Henry County, where he played football. He was recruited by many colleges. He ended up choosing Auburn, where he would start for 3 years. John said, “I liked Coach Dye and it was a small town. I liked that it was a small town.” He was then drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles and also played for the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens.
No one knew they would be getting into this mess. John Hanstrange was a farmer boy and he had never fought in a war. The date was March 3, 1863. The war had started two years ago and and it did not show sign of stopping anytime soon. John had been taken away from his home earlier that month and had been taken to the Confederate army. He was a scrawny boy with blonde hair and blues eyes. His days consisted of pulling weeds and picking at his humongous pimples.
John Simpson Kirkpatrick ‘the man with the donkey’ has had an incredible involvement with Australia in the World War One. His life leading up and during the war made contemporary Australia commemorate Simpson because of his sacrifice and the significance of his involvement during the war and his true Australian spirit.
Every four years, a special event calls people from all over the world to compete for glory and fame. This event is called the Olympics. Since 1896 thousands of people have competed and thousands of people have been called legends. One of great legends of swimming was Johnny Weissmuller. He battled through health issues and the unencouraging words of others to become one of the greatest legends of the 1900s. Not only was he a legend of swimming, but he was also a legend on television. Johnny Weissmuller had a successful career as a swimmer and as an actor during the booming age of television.
A ghoul remembers her first meal. If I were one of these flesh-eating creatures, my name would be Jake Paul. Jake Paul is a 20-year-old youtuber. In the past eight months, he has done many bad things. Every single one of his neighbors hates him because of all these terrible things. One of the neighbors even said that Jake Paul “made life hell.” To start he does dangerous stuff in his backyard like, throwing all of his furniture into an empty pool and lighting it on fire. The fire was ten feet high. He gave out his address to his fans and now they all stand outside of his house all day and scream. Jake Paul was a character on a show called Bizzardvark, but just recently got kicked off for many reasons, including being a bad neighbor and being
This post effectively caught my eye because the title referred to an article written by Andre Mayer in our class book about the sexual age we live in. This topic really interests me, and I even wrote my argument paper on a similar topic. I have always believed that our society is too focused on ideals of sex, and thus this post interested me. What I liked about this post was that it was simple, didn’t contain a lot of words, and was open-ended. I liked how there are a few words written with a video posted below, and the point of the post is for the reader to make their own interpretation on the topic based off of the video. I didn’t feel as though this post is necessarily making a claim, but rather putting forward an author’s opinion, supporting

John Clayton Mayer (/ˈmeɪ.ər/;[1] born October 16, 1977) is an American singer-songwriter and producer.[2] He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and raised in nearby Fairfield. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, but disenrolled and moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1997 with Clay Cook. Together, they formed a short-lived, two-man band called Lo-Fi Masters. After their split, Mayer continued to play local clubs—refining his skills and gaining a following. After his appearance at the 2001 South by Southwest Festival, he was signed to Aware Records, and then Columbia Records, which released his first EP, Inside Wants Out. His following two full-length albums—Room for Squares (2001) and Heavier Things (2003)—did well commercially,

The seventeenth century was a time of drastic world events. Queen Elizabeth died and England crowned her eldest son, James VI, king. The Puritans fled the rule of the Church of England and land in Massachusetts. The world lost one of the greatest English writers, and the Black Plague consumed England. In addition to these enormous events, a new English writer was born. His name was John Milton. Milton was born in a middle-class family, and he received excellent schooling. A desire to learn drove this young man to travel the continent and to meet with many famous intellects. Milton became involved in politics and wrote for the famous Oliver Cromwell, and finally, before his passing, he wrote the great English epic, Paradise Lost.
John Dalton was a British chemist. He’s known for bringing the atomic theory to light as well as his contributions to color blindness
In the spring of 2016, I attended a live concert titled “Merry Melodies,” and chose a performance by Joe Dunn to write my live concert report on. Joe Dunn played a song by artist, Eric Clapton, titled “Crossroads”. He told me that he chose to perform this particular song because he loves playing blues music and he respects Eric Clapton very much for his talents. Joe began playing the guitar when he was thirteen years old. The guitar that he used for this song was his very first guitar (called a Gibson “Flying V”). Joe actually used to be in his own blues band called “Benton St. Blues.” After being at this concert, I could tell how much he really enjoys playing music and he had fun with it. My overall experience of the occasion was great. I had fun, and I believe the audience enjoyed all the performances. It
Piling into a packed Madison Square Garden, the entire audience seemed to stir with anticipation. The main attraction, Michael Jackson, had not performed in the United States for several years and definitely not with his brothers, the rest of The Jackson Five in over a decade. Sure I've seen Michael Jackson in on television and in interviews, but I had never gotten to see him in live in real person. Being an entertainer for over forty years, and having sold over one-hundred million records, countless number one hits, and having plenty of controversy surrounding him, I always felt that the lead singer of the Jackson Five was somewhat of an enigma, but tonight he was right in front of me doing what he does best, singing dancing, and entertaining. As the lights dimmed, and the curtain began to raise, Michael Jackson came into the light, and the crowd went up in a simultaneous roar. Every movement that he made with his
Going to a concert is an experience incomparable to any other. Here it is, the moment, every concert goer has been waiting for, the artist coming onto the stage. Hearts begin to race as the music builds each fleeting second before the artist comes out. Smoke fills the dark stage illuminated by the band's tour video playing. Then, in the center of the stage, doors begin to open revealing four singing boys. Crying and screaming
