The veil of ignorance is a thought experiment proposed by John Rawls in one of his books, Theory of Justice. According to John Rawls, the veil of ignorance is a technique that is used to help anyone determine whether an action or an institution or such is moral. Thus, using the veil, one can determine the morality of an action or institution.
The thought experiment says that when designing the rules for the society, one should not be aware of what social position one will occupy.
The veil of ignorance principle would lead people to reject slavery, because slavery is just convenient for slave owners and not for slaves. Anyone behind the veil of ignorance would not know whether he/she would take the position of slave or slave owner, therefore
