We as human beings all strive for success. We use success as a measure of everyday life.
John Wooden once said, "success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best you are capable of becoming." This quotation is relevant to the question of how would you define success because success can be defined in many ways, depending on who you are asking. For you to have a better understanding, I will explain how success is defined in John Wooden's "Pyramid of Success", next how success was defined in the movie "Hoosiers", also how Bobby Plump saw success in his Milan team, and lastly how I have had success in my life time.
Success is like a flower, always blooming everywhere, you just have to look. My definition of success is winning every baseball game that is possible to win. First, winning to me is a success, no matter what, I would rather have a win than a loss any day. Second, a successful person to me is Johnny Bench, he is and has been one of the best major league baseball players of all time in my opinion. Also, another successful baseball player that I think is a success is Babe Ruth, one of the best overall players ever, I think. Therefore, success to me is winning because I do not like to lose ever.
Success is something that all people strive for in life. Google defines success as the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. John Wooden, one of the most successful basketball coaches of all time, defines success as peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming. In sport, there is a famous sentence that I’ve always remembered “You win some, you lose some” and it has changed the way I think about failure. For many people, “failure” means that we can’t achieve something that we’ve already set a goal for it. However, for me, failure is a thing that leads us to success.
From Hoosier, to Glenn Bird, to Scott Skiles, to Bill Walton, there is no greater state for basketball than Indiana. This is also true due to the greatest coach in college basketball, if not all college sports, John Wooden. Like many of his generation he was raised unprivileged. His family resided on a farm with little money, no running water and no electricity. After loosing their farm they moved to a near by city where John thrived on his high school basketball team and went on to attend Purdue University. He won 3 straight All American Awards then ended his career to marry and become a coach at South
To me success is accomplishing the goals, doing things the right way, and doing what you love.
Everyone defines success differently, but it is an achievement everyone strives for. John Wooden was notorious for his achievement as a basketball coach, and his philosophies on success. The movie “Hoosiers” is a great story of an underdog team that won a championship with all the odds against them. Like most people, I have also found success in my life in numerous events.
Many people try and many people have failed. Everyone hopes to succeed in something, whether it be anything from sports to seminary, school, or just life. Every day there are people who invent things, they try over and over again until it works out. There are many successful people in this world and they didn’t get there easily. Success is something earned not given, and comes with trial and error.

Success becomes in different forms, to be able to overcome obstacles that get in your way, just don’t give in, and stop, continue and ask question of what can I do to become the best that I want to be. It is a goal and also inspiration to say the word I have succeed. Throughout the years, leadership has played a significant role in the world of athletics. Whether it is coming from a coach or a player, leadership is no doubt the most important role one can hold; leadership can make or break a team. John C. Maxwell put it clearly when he stated that “everything rises and falls on leadership”. When looking at leadership as it relates to sports one must first define leadership. Barrow (1977) defined leadership as “the behavioral process of influencing individuals and groups towards set goals” (p.232).
