In The Outsiders, by S.E Hinton, Johnny Cade is a very dynamic character that was referred to as a little dark puppy that has been kicked too many times and is lost in a crowd of strangers, but is yet known as a happy go lucky type of kid. Johnny’s parents didn’t care about what he did, his father was abusive, and his mother just doesn’t care what he does unless he does something wrong, then she would yell at him. Johnny is the life of the gang, even though he is the most quiet and shy. Throughout the story the book shows how people helped him and how he helped others, including Ponyboy. Johnny Cade was 16, had long, jet black bangs, and has big black eyes. Johnny was a greaser that didn’t like to fight, but would if it came down to it. Johnny is a jumpy kid, he is always on the lookout for a group of Socs (a rival gang) that are ready to jump him. One night Johnny and Ponyboy met these girls, Cherry, and Marcia. They saw a movie together and when it was over they walked them home. As they were walking home, a car came around, and it was a group of Socs. Johnny looked worried because it was the same people that had jumped him. All they did was picked up the girls and didn’t say a word.
There were characters that didn’t make the movie which were the nurse and doctor that was talking to ponyboy, soda, and darry in the book. They were the once that told them that johnny was dieing which was an important scene in the book. The mom of johnny was not in the movie the way I know this because in the book there was only one scene where the mother was in. That was after the nurse came to tell johnny that his mother wanted to see him he said no. After that Dally and ponyboy left and the mother screaming at them telling them that this is their fault because they are bad influences in johnny's life. That never happened in the movie.
The Outsiders written by S.E. Hinton is sold worldwide. This book sold more than 14 million copies. This hit has shown heroism throughout the book and readers never knew what was going to happen next. I personally think that a hero is Brave, Sticks up for Friends and Strangers, and also is willing to sacrifice his or her life for others. In The Outsiders Johnny best fits my personal description of a hero.
Jez Butterworth undeniably flaunts the conventions of comedy in Jerusalem to create a profound but amusing philosophical satire, observing and mocking modern society. Morally objectionable ideals present in everyday life are examined and ridiculed, inevitably leading to the development of morally objectionable characters and social groups. As a result, Johnny Byron doesn’t neatly fit the definitions of either a tragic hero or a comedic protagonist but instead has traits of the two. He is both an outrageously hedonistic Falstaffian character whist arousing pity and fear, able to question the motivation of other characters whilst himself being hubristic and unable to admit error. Despite his comedic attributes, Byron’s character undoubtedly lends itself more to the tragic arc as the audience witnesses his bloody downfall from relative grace, evoking both pity and disgust.
I had to tell the gang about Johnny's death. It frightened me to tell them, I didn't know how they'd react. Once I told them, they didn't openly express their emotions, but I knew later in private they would. Then, we got a telephone call. Dally had contacted us from a phone booth, telling us how he had robbed a grocery store and how now the cops are after him. Figures, that Dally would do something so reckless. We met him at the lot, where the police were chasing him. He swiftly pulled his gun out that he used as a bluff from his waistband, as my eyes widened in fear. Only Johnny and I knew that the gun he carried was unloaded. The policemen fired at Dally and just like that the gang had lost another member. I then comprehended that Dally
It has been a week since I handed in my project for English, things still do not feel the same at home, something feels as if it’s missing with Johnny and Dally went. Like a shadow has gone over our group. Nothing feels quite the same around a home, Dally seems more gentle with me almost as if I’m glass and will break, but I can see why. They try to make me feel better, and slowly my life is getting back on track, my grades are slowly climbing up, again Dally thinks I still got a good chance to get into a great university, he thinks that if I enter track next year, and do well I can even get a sports scholarship. I hope what he is saying is right. The whole group seems to be pushing me forward. Sodapop also seems happy for me, he is smiling more, but he almost seems more protective. Now that my head is clear I feel like I can see things the way they are. Because of that, they are careful around me, not wishing me to become like what I was again.
What is a hero? A hero is a person that helps someone and stands up for what is right.
Even though Johnny is portrayed as a shy boy his second trait courageous. In the park with Ponyboy, Johnny and the Socs it had stirred Johnny’s fear turn to self defense. “” I killed him,” he said slowly. “ I killed that boy,”” (156). Johnny was referring to Bob, the Soc, he had killed with a knife without thinking of the consequences. He had to overcome his fear of the Socs in order to save Ponyboy from being drowned in the fountain. Another example of bravery would be at the movie theater. “Johnny gulped and got a little pale, but he said, “You heard me. Leave her alone,”” (24). Dally, known as being a trouble-maker and rowdy type, had been ruthlessly harassing Cherry and Marcia to the point Johnny mustered up his courage ordering Dally to
“Hey, Johnnycake!” Two-Bit yelled from the street. Johnny waved back, a smile lighting up his face.
Is there a person in your life you care about so much that you would do anything to protect them? If they are in trouble, you are the one that is there for them. Just because of them, you are a completely different person. When they need help, you feel the need to get them out of it. In The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, the character Dally fights to protect Johnny because Dally cherishes him. Set in the 1960s, the main character, Ponyboy, lives in a world where everyone is divided into gangs, or social classes: the greasers and the Socs. Ponyboy is a fourteen year old that is a greaser with his friends who have any ongoing disagreement with the Socs who are rich and have everything they want. Johnny is a character who isn’t tough and doesn’t stand
I think johnny is the hero because he saved all of those kids who he could have let them die but he didn’t he sacrificed his life to save their lives but he did because he didn’t want them to die but it ended up backfiring on him and since he broke his back in the church it caused him to to stay in the hospital and he died after the rumble when they were visiting him but ponyboy is a hero to because he helped the kids to but he just got a big bruise on his back he did not end up like johnny did but he was sick all ready and and he also went and participated in the rumble and he has had the roughest week of his life ever and two of his friend have died.

What if everthing and everyone you loved went away? Life is hard, but luckily you have your loved ones to help you. But what if you didn’t? In the book, The Outsiders, even though many characters impacted each other, Johnny, Ponyboy, and Dally impacted their peers the most throughout the book.
A possible theme for Oedipus the King by Sophocles is that one’s blindness can hide the inevitability that is his destiny. Oedipus is in this situation. He struggles to escape his fate: killing his father and marrying his mother and believes he is successful. Sophocles believes that the gpds control one’s destiny and the inevitability that a person will do what is destined despite there hero’s intentions.Oedipus represent the standards of a true tragic hero: he is well known, basically good, his punishment is out of proportion compared to his crime, the audience at some point feels sorrow and pity for him, and Oedipus has a tragic flaw. During the whole story Oedipus thinks that he may be able to change his fate a live life how he wants but he falls to that which is his destiny. For these reason Oedipus is truly an example of a tragic hero and is unable to avoid his tragic fate.
