Jorge Francisco Isidoro Luis Borges was born in Argentina on August 24, 1899. An eminent writer, essayist, and poet, his works are considered to be of the classics of the 20th century. Literature was a big part of his life at an early age, as his father had an English library with more than a thousand volumes. Borges was taught at home in Spanish and English until he was 11 years old, but continued his education at school when his family moved to Switzerland so his father could get treated for an eye condition. When Vargas died in 1705 after repossessing the governorship in 1703, he was succeeded by Governor Francisco Cuervo y Valdes. On Friday, the 6th of January 2017, Esteban Santiago began shooting a 9mm hand gun in a baggage claim at the Ft. Lauderdale airport, killing five people and injuring six others. Esteban Santiago is a 26 year old male who was discharged from the Alaska Army National Guard for unsatisfactory performance. Roberto Clemente was born in Barrio San Antón, Carolina, Puerto Rico, his father was Don Melchor Clemente and his mother was Doña Luisa Walker. Roberto was the youngest of 7 siblings; Clemente had 4 older brothers and 2 older sisters. Throughout Roberto’s childhood, his father worked as foreman of sugar crops located in the city. Because the family's incomes were restricted, Clemente worked along his father, loading and unloading the trucks. Clemente demonstrate curiosity in the of baseball when he was very young and often played against next-door kids from his same area. He went to Vizcarrondo High School in Carolina. Jorge Luis Borges’ “Funes, His Memory,” is a narrative about Funes, a man with an incredible ability to remember everything so clear and perfect as though he is seeing it at the exact moment. Funes is stuck in his memory and cannot live life freely because he is unable to filter out unimportant memories. All that his memory is able to do is intake scenes but lacks the ability to recycle out unnecessary details. In this piece, we are able to comprehend that in order to be aware, we need to have balance and limit between consciousness and memory. If we do not have a limit between these we are unable to live in reality.
