Josef Mengele, a demoralized Nazi doctor and scientist is known for his frightful human experiments during the holocaust. Mengele generally studied and examined twin children and other human experimentation. Due to these events, Josef Mengele's nickname was "The Angel of Death". Born on March 16, 1911, in Gunzburg, Germany was Josef Mengele. He was amongst the eldest son of his father, Karl Mengele, who owned a chain of prosperous farming implements. Josef attended Munich University where he later earns his Ph.D in 1935. After his graduation, he applied to the Institute for Hereditary Biology and Racial Hygiene. When working there, he soon became the assistant of Dr. Otmar Von Vershuer which was very popular for his research on twins. In 1937, after the rise of the Nazi party Josef Mengele exceeded in the SS with a medical degree. He soon was drafted into the army to fight in WW2, but was injured and not suitable for combat. …show more content…

He was widely known for performing experimentation with amnesia, blood transfer, limb amputation, amnesia, removal of organs, and many more. After the war, he was named "The Angle of Death" due to how gruesome his experimentations were. After the war, Josef fled to Argentina. During that time Argentina was a safe haven for Nazi soldiers. During his time there, Mengele changed his identity and struggled to find a safe place to live. He moved from country, to country in constant fear of being caught in South America. He was well aware that there were bounties and war crimes on his head. Due to Josef's father's business, he had friends and chains that ran through South America. Josef used these connections to stay safe from not being caught. Josef then lived another 35 years without being caught or punished for his war crimes before he died on February 7, 1979.
