My character name is Joseph. He is sixteen years old and in tenth grade. He is average height with blond hair. He lives in the 1930’s, and he was nine when World War II started. He is resilient, and he is also honest. He lost his older brother at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He tries to hide the sorrow of losing his brother Jackson, from his little sister and his parents, trying not to affect them. Every once in awhile he gets mad at the Japanese for killing his brother.
His family lived in Boise, Idaho. The town had some military activity and not too big of a population. It has a couple of airfields and a river. On one side of the river is a rural housing area, on the other of the river is a shopping/political district, right next

I was out on the river getting ready to catch some fish for the week’s dinners. I heard the sound of gravel under the weight of the car wheels as it bumped its way down our dirt road leading to our house. I watched as a the military jeep pulled up and parked at the end of the driveway and two men in blue US Navy uniforms jumped out. The jeep was colored in a dark green paint job. The two men marched up the gravel sidewalk toward the front door, their boots scrunching under the dirt and rocks.
They walked with their heads down, one was also holding a big white envelope. When they reached the door, they both looked at each other then one stepped forward and knocked on the door. They both waited for a minute while exchanging nervous glances at each other. Joseph's mother opened the door, took one glance then immediately gasped at the sight of the US Navy Soldiers, she starts to realize what's happening. They handed her the big white envelope.
She opens the envelope and starts to read what's inside. They start to explain what happened. As she was reading it looked as if she was about to fall into a deep depression. After about two minutes the two navy soldiers finished talking they started to walk back to the jeep. My mom slowly walked back inside with the envelope in her
In 1850 he and his family moved to Wisconsin where he lived for 5 years until his mother died. He moved with his father back to Freeport. While he was a young man he got $1,000 of inheritance money from his Grandfather and went to Michigan in an attempt to join the University of Michigan.
When he was about 14, his family moved to Los Angeles, California permanently after moving from his home town to Tucson, Arizona multiple times throughout the years. He graduated
That next weekend, we went to Lynnville on an early October morning. I could not believe it was all actually happening. I had been wanting to do this for so long and I was certain nothing could get in my way. As we made the half hour drive there, I had the window down with the fresh, chilled air blowing in my face. I kept thinking about war movies wondering if I would freeze once I saw the large brown animal standing before me and not be able to shoot. The biggest thing I worried about consisted of not letting my old man down. He handed over his time to come out there with me and I wanted to make sure it was well worth it.
Everyday there seems to be new conflicts arising around the world. Today’s men and women are gaining the courage to enlist, to protect our country, from our veterans who were so brave in the past. They set a path of courage, bravery, and strength for who become
I gradually slowed from a run to a walk before coming to a complete stop. I started to listen to my heart instead of my mind as it was corrupted by a fear so profound that it made my blood run cold every time the thought arrived in my head. I never should have left my platoon. It was a mistake. They had always been there for me even when I didn’t think I needed them, but now when they needed me I let them all down. I knew I was weak and that’s why I had run away but it wasn’t my fault that I was here. It wasn’t my decision but the government and its conscription policy. What did the government know about fighting in a war? Why don’t they allow any of their children fight instead of someone else’s? I turned around and started heading back deeper into the jungle that I had come from.

I wandered across the street, the gravel crunched under my feet. I hear my dad yell my name “Amira.” I run toward my house. My dad tells me to lock the door as soon as I am in. Click, goes the lock. But, something’s not right, my dad is still outside. I look through the peephole in my door. I see 5 men in camo uniform with guns charging at my dad. They stop one meter away from him. The soliders raise thier guns. Aim. Fire. Bang, Crash. I can’t see anything except bright red blood. I scream. I hear the soldier’s feet crumble on gravel and the sound becomes more and more faint. I open my door and there in front of my eyes, my dad covered in thick blood. I roll up into a ball and start shaking. My throat starts closing up. Suddenly I hear a soft,
Every morning I wake up at six a.m. I see the reflection of myself in my gleaming pocket knife. I look more like my father now than ever. He is back in Ohio as I follow in his footsteps by joining the armed forces. He was in the army and because of that I lived in Ohio and Germany for most of my life. I still remember the days in Germany when I got to visit the German schools and go outside of the base. Here in Ceiba, Puerto Rico at Roosevelt Roads Naval Base, the weather is hot and humid, it smells of salt water all the time and you constantly hear the waves crash against the colossal boats docked in the harbor. As I lay in bed as a child I used to dream of captaining submarines in the midst of war, I wanted to sail the seven seas using nuclear

First we saw the lights. The next second the only sound we heard were blaring sirens. We darted back to the stone lighthouse perched over the beach. Amused looks, laced with all the things we worried about that night bounced between us as we huddled together. Downhill and behind the lighthouse we were out of sight from the man in uniform, but he had no doubt seen us walking down the tracks into the woods. But as we watched, taking turns to peek up at the flashing blue lights, we realized he wasn't interested in us.
Yesterday, The great war ended. Thousands of men came home, but my dad didn’t. My mom is in the factory so she isn’t here to join me. School is out to celebrate the war ending; that’s why I am here, in Fairhope, Alabama, at the docks watching the men come home. I Couldn't bear it any more, so I walked home. I got home and turned on the radio. As soon as it came on, Woodrow Wilson was giving a speech to welcome all the men home. As I listened, I had a flashback to the year that we were in the war. My dad received a letter that he had been drafted into the United States Military. He had three days to be At the docks. He kissed me and my mother, and off he went. It wasn’t a week later, my mom had to go work in the cotton mill.
“Quality of performance in Rollers that James and I breed for or look for is the same, but that’s not the only passion James has. He also takes the color that he wants and makes it spin. He takes spin and makes it a color, if that makes any sense to you. Not many people can understand what James has been doing with his Rollers. He doesn’t take a certain color and teach them how to spin; he takes the spin and adds color to it. I was never interested in doing that because James made it too easy for me. Let me tell you a story: One day, I asked James how to make an andalusian color. He said: ‘just breed an indigo with a spread black. Half of what you breed should be andalusion and the other half should be black’. Well, he was right the first bird I raised was half andalusion half spread, you know one of those mosaic birds.
She was so worried what was going to happen, she deiced she might as well risk it and open it so she did it said your mom is just like you now. She was so confused but went up to her house to see what was happening. When she got there something seemed weird but she didn’t know what….
“Yeah let’s go” I said sounding confused. We ran to get to a truck that was full of U.S fighters. Guns started to fire. Huge tanks were in front and behind us. brian started to shoot something in the distance. A person. He fell down. What’s happening? I asked myself. What’s going on? I saw someone, the person next to me said to shoot him. I asked him why. He said to just shoot who ever I see if they have different colors than us on.
