Josh Tomlin's Road To Success

Everyone takes a different road to the show. That road can be smooth and easy, but it can also be bumpy and difficult.
For Josh Tomlin, he traveled the latter of the two. The Texas Tech product was drafted in 2005 by the San Diego Padres, but elected to return to school. The following year, Tomlin was drafted in the 19th round by the Cleveland Indians and signed a deal.
The Texas native didn't make his professional debut until 2010. He achieved moderate success before tearing his ulnar collateral ligament in 2012. The pitcher missed the rest of the year and majority of 2013 as well.
Unfortunately, the injury set back Tomlin's progression, but he is making strides and trending upward. Since returning from the disabled list last year, he has recorded a quiet 7-2 record in 10 starts. Tomlin has found a rhythm and his silent success has continued into this season.

All four other starters were able to make two starts each for various reasons. Not to mention, Tomlin didn’t get his first start until April 16th. This man has stepped up his game while the Indians had to endure Carlos Carrasco’s injury and Cody Anderson’s struggles.
In 15 outings this season, Tomlin has registered 11 quality starts and a 9-1 record. Also, he has a 3.21 ERA, 64 strikeouts and just 10 walks in 95 innings of work.
Ultimately, Josh Tomlin is a major contributor to Cleveland's current success. Although it may be early, Tomlin could be in CY Young
