Introduction: Throughout the book of Into The Wild Chris McCandless is known to be a wacko reckless idiot, and is also known to be courageous and heroic. However does a courageous person go out into the wilderness knowing that the outcome will be fatal? People viewed him from different perspectives and also have broad range of opinions of this young man. Some deemed him to be incredibly dim-witted or a man that simply just followed his heart. Evidence shows that Chris McCandless is actually a mix of both. The first opinion that described McCandless was brainless, idiotic, and extremely foolish. Many passages from Into The Wild can support this outlook.

I visited the Newport Back Bay Visitors Center. It is located in the Newport Back Bay for people to visit and learn about the wonderful Back Bay that is only steps from our very own school, CDM. The history of the Back Bay goes back a long time. In the 18th century when the Spanish arrived in California places like the Back Bay were very abundant. However by 1975 less than 10% remained in-between Santa Barbra and Mexico. In 1960 plans were made to make the back bay a large marina with houses right along the water. But in 1967 when a group of citizens founded the Friends of Newport Bay they fought to keep this from happening. It was also founded to help bring attention to the ecological importance of the Bay and to help try and ensure its survival. As a result of the Friends of Newport Bay the Upper Newport Bay Ecological Reserve was founded in 1975. Seven years latter in 1982 more land was added at Big Canyon. Five years later, in 1989 what is now known as Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve was established on the neighboring bluffs after the County of Orange acquired an additional 140 acres. Eleven years after in 2000 the Friends and the Naturalists joined forces to become the Newport Bay Naturalists & Friends. Most recently, in 2010 it was elected to change the name of this organization to the Newport Bay Conservancy, which is the name that stands today. In a society where individualism, simplicity and the divinity of nature, are no longer a top priority; many individuals go on odysseys to find those values. That is the case of Chris McCandless, who spend the last portion of his life living out his philosophy on life. Looking for who he was and what he believed in. Chris McCandless led a life that was similar to that of transcendentalists, through their shared values and outlooks on life.

Parks have been around for many years. They truly have impacted not only suburbs, but they have majorly impacted cities. Without the invention of parks it would be hard to escape city life. Cities are still changing from what they used to be and how they are designed. However the future of the parks is unsure due to funding and lack of maintenance. The first idea of a park was from William Penn in 1682. He created a plan for Philadelphia to have five areas of park - like land. Then James Oglethorpe had an idea in 1733 for Savannah. He established a system, where neighborhoods were revolved around a square (Schuyler, 2015). The first recorded urban park was Fairmount Gardens. It was created in 1812, in Philadelphia when they constructed their waterworks. The park first started off at five acres, surrounding the waterworks. The park had become so popular that in 1828 they expanded it to twenty-eight acres. In 1850, Lemon Hill and Sedgley estates were added to Fairmount, which made the popularity of the park increase. People thought the park site was chosen because of the class of people that lived there, but that was not the case. The land was chosen because it was too elevated. Since the land was so elevated that made it too hard to build and expensive to build anything there or to build roads on that kind of land (Schuyler, 2015). Parks then became very popular in cities. In Anchorman, the plot structure has many elements of a comedy, including a hero seeking happiness, major and minor barriers to his goal, and a happy ending in which a new social society is created. In the first place, Ron Burgundy is the main hero of the movie. He’s a very successful anchorman in San Diego during the 1970s, and his goal is to be the best anchorman he can be and maintain his fame. However, Veronica Corningstone, a female reporter from out of town, and he starts a romantic relationship with her. Unfortunately for Ron, Veronica begins to outperform him and replaces him as head anchor.

The Denman is an undergraduate research forum that is now in their 21st year. This program allows undergraduate students to demonstrate their research on topics that are related to their major for people of the Columbus area to see. This was my first time attending this type of event and I found it extremely informative. I think it was a great opportunity to learn about topics that aren’t related to my major. This was also a great place to get an idea for the future when it comes to creating a research presentation. I attended three presentations that included the following topics: Vitamin D and Birth Outcomes in Pregnancy, The Role of Ultra Violet Light in Individual Intersections in a Social Cichlids, and No Safety in Trees.

The website for the national and state park systems helps to enlighten the public on the subject of impending changes in policy and regulations, as well as new developments in different parks. Due to this, the parks and recreation districts judge that individuals and families will be more agreeable to the idea of traveling to parks in different states because of the easy accessibility of directions and information about the parks. Owing to the latest rise in interest of campgrounds and recreation areas, there has been an increase in funds. This new revenue has made possible the purchase of more parkland throughout the United States. Without prevailing use of the Internet, this most likely would not have been possible. The East Bay Park District has been able to purchase 1,476 of land. This is the single largest acquisition that the Park has made in over twenty years. The York Center Park District been able to purchase and protect a 20-acre area in the last five years. This is the largest area they manage. With the acquisition of supplementary parkland, it is more likely that this land will continue in its natural condition and not be converted into an urbanized region.

In Fielding’s Joseph Andrews you see a variety of characters. They range from the shallow, vain and proud characters like Lady Booby and Mrs. Slipslop to the innocent, sincere, and virtuous like Joseph and Fanny. The presence of Lady Booby, and all of the people like her that are portrayed in the same selfish and dishonest way, bring out the importance of the clergy. Most of the clergy that we meet in the story don’t fit our vision of “holy people”. They didn’t fit Fielding’s vision either. Parson Adams is the only character that represents what Fielding considers to be the proper role for the clergy. He believes that the proper role for the clergy is that they should give moral guidance and they should be virtuous and

Vacation to a theme park can be complemented by various goods and services. One of which will be air tickets. For example, when prices of air tickets fall, demand for air tickets will increase. In addition, people will be more attracted to flying to the theme park to spend a vacation there. Similarly, another complement good is hotels. When hotel rates fall, people are more able and willing to live in a hotel and thus will be able to afford to stay in the hotels in or near the theme park.
